Mom died peacefully Sat Dec 6 at 1PM

Posted by: Bob_Wilkin

Mom was still alive when I arrived Friday night. On Saturday just before noon we decided to take off the supplemental oxygen. Mom’s life slowly ebbed away over the next 90 minutes. Her blood pressure and pulse gradually decreased. Her respiration was very slow. They called it agonal breathing.

After she died her doctor put it well. He said she’d lived 96 full years and was mentally sharp with a good sense of humor right up to the end. Which of us wouldn’t think that God had not blessed us richly if we had that type of health and long life?

The funeral is set for Wednesday at Noon at Risher Mortuary Chapel in Montebello, CA. There will be an obituary in the LA Times tomorrow, Tuesday Dec 9.

Having a spiritual perspective on Mom’s death is very helpful. She still exists. She has simply departed this life. While I’m not sure she is with the Lord (see my previous post), I have reason to believe she may well be. God was so gracious to keep her alive these last 6 years. She nearly died just before her 90th birthday. I wonder if He kept her alive so she’d learn the saving message and come to faith. Our God is very gracious.

I would appreciate your prayers that the service glorifies the Lord Jesus and honors Mom. Also my sister Pam and I are co-executors of Mom’s estate.

May God strengthen and give you peace during this difficult time Bob. One Day when all is said and done we will understand it all. Whether she is with Him or not we will understand and view the eternal destiny of our loved ones and the world as He does. Perfectly. She has indeed been blessed with many days.
I too hope she has believed in Christ for life everlasting. Jesus knew better than anyone the challenges of evangelism within one’s own family. Be encouraged!!
