What can I say? This cat and mouse chase is what sucked me in further to the series and has me waiting on the edge of my seat for the 9th book.

Sorry I was distracted by your avatar....lol. I think that I really started to get drawn in with them when they were looking for Bill and she got staked. He went with her to the Kings house and totally seduced her and me at the same time.....lol

The avatar is lovely, isn't it? I loved that part in book 3 also. Damn that Bubba for barging in! Eric's emotions were all over the place in that book.

I love his humor. That's one of the main things that makes me love him so. He and Sookie "get" each other.

I love the fact that he caters to her without losing control or compromising his character. And I love that she is a strong woman to the core. She may be fragile and mortal but she is more than able to hold her own with the little that she has.

I just love the pull between them. There is so much to explore, and seeing their relationship grow step by step, book by book is really intriguing.

Seeing Eric confused by his feelings for Sookie, yet not being able to help himself and his pursuit of her. Seeing Sookie's attraction for him at the start, and how at little moment, her thoughts turn to him is absolutely lovely.

They have some good internal angst, and all these forces that would try to keep them apart. I'm a sucker for good story, and they have it in spades.

Internal angst definitely. I think Bill is the obstacle set up for Eric and Sookie. In the books at least we can see that although Sookie has hooked up with different people it's Eric in his purest form that she longs for. And he has always been there for her without her having to ask for his help so many times. I really can't see where the love interest would be with anyone else.

You know what gets me is that I'm so used to disappointment in my shipping, that I always hope for the best, but expect the worst. I think it's clear to me that each book has built on the last and the path is straight to a relationship with Eric. Every relationship she's been in or contemplating to start have been compared against Eric, whether she wanted to do that or not. It's that she doesn't even want to do it but she can't seem to help herself. Eric, who she hasn't even been in a relationship with.

In the last book I thought it was very interesting that she pictured Eric as a potential mate.

"Hadn’t I always had a soft spot for Eric, who made love like a train thundering into a tunnel? Didn’t I have beaucoup
evidence that Eric could defend me better than anyone I knew? I could hardly summon the energy to be shocked at myself.

If you find yourself considering who to take for a lover because of his ability to defend you, you’re getting pretty close to selecting a mate because you think he has desirable traits to pass along to future generations. And if
there’d been a chance I could have had Eric’s child (a thought that made me shiver), he would have been at the top of the list, a list I hadn’t even known I’d been compiling. I pictured myself as a female peacock looking for the male peacock with the prettiest display of tail, or a wolf waiting for the leader (strongest, smartest, bravest) of the pack to mount her."

 Really interesting...
