Rules are meant to be broken, or so they say. How about long-established traditions? Brides have been wearing white wedding dresses in overwhelming numbers since 1840. That was when Queen Victoria married Prince Albert in an elaborate white gown. Since that time, white wedding gowns have come symbolize purity, innocence and chastity, at least in the West. Are your hips wider than your shoulders? Another familiar term for this body type is pear shape, because you are heavier at the bottom than the top. This shape is easily overcome by taking the eye off the hips and moving it up to your shoulder, bust and beautiful face. Try an A-line gown that starts flowing right under the bust. You might also consider a ball gown that flows dramatically as a result of the fabric, the cut or the embellishment. A third option is the trumpet skirt. Picture a real trumpet turned upside down and resting on its bell. The trumpet gown flares out around the ankles in the same fashion, again drawing attention from the hips. If you are petite bride, avoid the trumpet gown, as the shortened length of the skirt does not always lend itself to a flared hem. If you are a plus-sized bride, stick to the A-line gowns as the most flattering to your shape. While it is true that fashions often change, few sartorial trends have been as consistent as the white wedding gown. However, designers and retailers have reported a slight increase in non-white gowns over the past decade. Most industry insiders believe that the popularity of the white dress has fallen off a bit due to the sharp increase in wedding costs. The cost of the average wedding nearly doubled from the 1990s into the 21st century. But when the Great Recession hit, bridal budgets fell for the first time in decades. In 2008, the average wedding budget dropped by nearly a quarter, down to $21,814. Then in 2009, it fell again, down to $19,581.Why the precipitous decline? Well, it's simple--couples have less money and time than they did before. As a result, they are planning less formal affairs. Not surprisingly, as conventions are relaxed, brides feel more comfortable embracing new trends. See more:https://www.123idea.it/2015/03/dare-la-femminilita-al-vostro-abito-da-sposa/ |
