Sorry Kevin. I didn't think it was difficult, but other people have had problems so I will sort that out.

BCDC++

in the interest of keeping the venerable loveline/adam and drew DC++ hub going, above is a link to the version i use, which has a few must have features.

this .exe has a wizard/installer which should help some people. i was able to help becca get on the hub a few days ago, and am willing to walk anyone interested through the process.

the two most important things you should know is that if you know nothing about port mapping, or not comfortable monkeying with your router settings, choose passive connection in the settings. this means you'll only be able to connect to active users, not other passive users. the last pic in this series address one way to identify A or P users.

also, the hub addy is loveline.redirectme.net

i've put together a rudimentary picture tutorial.

after install, start program

Posted Image

allow firewall to allow program. choose a user name.

Posted Image

under "connection settings" - choose passive if you're clueless

Posted Image

choose a location for your downloads and incomplete files. if you don't, default is within the program in program files in windows explorer.

Posted Image

you can choose to go through other settings, but these are the essentials. click ok. now, click the yellow star.

Posted Image

click "new" - located left, mid screen - favorite hub properties dialogue box will pop up.

Posted Image

fill in the fields the way you see them on this .jpg - then click ok.

Posted Image

check the box - double click on hub name

Posted Image

you're in when you see this screen. here are some tips on how to get files.

good luck.

should i take down the tutorial, and stop talking about the hub on "both" forums because of the situation with westwood one vs. "loveline archive"?

I am slightly concerned they will start going after people sharing on the hub, but the hub itself shouldn't be in any danger. At the same time, I think it is a much more involved process to contact and threaten people based on their IP address, and it is a lot easier to target the owner of a domain/website... This might explain why the websites died. If the people behind the threats aren't feeling up to a lot of legwork, hub sharing should be safe.

in his takedown notice he also mentioned contacting westwood one and trying to get them to fund the archive which is quaint and nice, but in terms of trying to deal with content holders in this day and age it's also incredibly naive. The hub will fly below the radar forever--just don't announce it on the shows. It's like trading files in IRC.

Yeah, I wouldn't be very happy if someone mentioned the hub on one of the shows - but it could happen.

Well, it is Giovanni's fault isn't it? I believe he has mentioned it on the air before.

To say the least.

It's bizarre, almost boarding on delusional, to think that Westwood One / CBS Radio would consider giving money to someone who is admitting to sharing their product without a license and without offering any form of compensation.
