ADAM 'DJ AM' GOLDSTEIN has been found dead in his New York apartment, after suffering a reported drug overdose. According to TMZ.com, police broke into the 36-year-old's home on Lafayette Street in Lower Manhattan yesterday evening after they were alerted by a concerned friend who had been unable to reach him for several days. The New York Post reports that drug paraphernalia was found in the apartment. The star, who has dated NICOLE RICHIE and MANDY MOORE, battled drug addiction in the past. Earlier this year he revealed that he had attempted suicide while high on crack cocaine when he was aged 24. Goldstein's celeb friends were quick to issue tributes via social networking site, Twitter. LINDSAY LOHAN: "I can't believe this.. i'm in shock. why? why? r.i.p. adam." P.DIDDY simply said: "DJ AM rest in peace." KELLY OSBOURNE wrote: "I just cant believe that adam (dj.am) is gone i dont want to believe it im in shock. he was one of the most genuine people i have ever met!" SHANNA MOAKLER, whose ex-husband TRAVIS BARKER survived a fatal plane crash with Goldstein last year, was among the first to Tweet, writing: "My deepest condolences for DJ AM, you were a great artist and will be severely missed. My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends." His death comes almost a year after he and pal Barker were involved in the South Carolina crash that killed four people. They both suffered severe burns when the Learjet burst into flames after overshooting the runway. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/usa/2613636/DJ-AM-has-been-found-dead-in-his-New-York-apartment.html |

I'm at a loss for words. This one came as a shock to me. Multiple things come to mind. I was reading on perezhilton.com that it had been reported that DJ AM was feeling depressed. Maybe he took the loss of loosing the others in the plane harder than we thought. Causing him to relapse--if that's the case. I'll miss hearing him on Loveline. If it hadn't been for DJ AM--DrDrew wouldn't have his MySpace page. As he's the one who set it up during the 2 hours that Loveline was on the air. He'll be greatly missed. |

He is the second friend on Dr.Drew's myspace and featured in his profile photo. I think you can tell by that, that he has been on Loveline quite a few times, so I am shocked you do not know him plurry. Edited by Emma, Aug 29 2009, 06:48 AM.

i've listened to loveline fairly religiously since stryker left, sharing all of the shows in the post stryker era on the dc++ loveline hub. he must have been on between 2006 and early 2009 when i wasn't in support of the show. just read his wiki, no wonder i hadn't heard of him. he was an ancillary type with pop acts i don't listen to. |

What I hate about all this is that he seemed to be a really, really nice person- but just because he once was engaged to Nicole Richie, people seem to feel they have the right to mock his death. Like dating someone "famous" means you stop being a human being and are a joke to the world? |

dating someone famous is the reason most people know of him at all. |

It didn't seem that anyone was mocking his death from the news stories I've read. I didn't know he dated Nicole Richie and have never really followed him other than when the plane he was on crashed last year. But it is still sad that he died. |

I didn't really know who AM was before listening to Loveline. He was a guest and I listened to the other times he was on Loveline. I think the last time I heard his name came up was almost a year when the plane crashed. And you're right...it is sad that he died. |

It's like Sam Ronson, she was well-known to us music type people years before she got it on with Lohan. Yet all those years of doing well and making good music just go with a click of the fingers. |
