| Appearance: | | | With a tall yet skinny physical build, Alex is most certainly stronger than he looks. His not-too-pale skin complement his dark ocean-blue eyes complement his natural good looks. His facial features are soft but not too gentle, giving him a determined yet friendly appearance. His hair is usually kept short-ish, and is naturally a very dark brown, looking almost black. When at work he usually wears grey trousers with a black belt, and a plain white shirt with a dark blue tie, and a light-grey trenchcoat to finish it off. However, when out of work Alex tends to wear a pair of dark-blue jeans and a long-sleeve coloured t-shirt with a short-sleeve black shirt worn open over the top of the long-sleeve t-shirt. On his left wrist is a gold watch given to him by his parents when he finished school, and around his neck is a little star made out of diamond on a thin gold chain hidden underneath his clothing that he wears all the time in memory of his lost brother. |
| | Personality: | Alex is a positive yet determined kid who always tries to look on the bright side of things whilst still trying to remain realistic. When he was younger his happy-go-lucky nature, when combined with his naturally-social nature, easily made him numerous friends in school. However, age and life experiences changed him and made him more down-to-earth. Although, he still has those personality traits of old buried inside of him, and they sometimes do resurface if he gets particularly excited or happy or enthusiastic about something. Alex is also reasonably intelligent - while he's no Einstein, he still is reasonably smarter than your average 17-year-old. Also, Alex is a very trusting person who will easily put his trust in those around them. However, his trusting nature does tend to allow him to be easily influenced and easily encouraged to do things against his will.
| | Relatives: | | Gordon Lethbridge | Father | Gordon Lethbridge was born in the UK in a town called Ealing in Greater London but grew up in the outskirts of Manchester. Computers had always been his passion ever since he was a child. He met Kate at his first job - a junior technician for a web hosting company. He now works for a major software company in the town of Stourbridge, in the heart of England, as a senior technician. He cares deeply for his now-only son, Alex, and has a deep respect for him. He shares a deep bond with his son, and would do anything to protect that bond. | | Kate Emberson | Mother | Kate Emberson was born in the UK also, in a town called Northwich, which is not far from the city of Crewe. She moved to Manchester for work, and joined as a general secretary and receptionist. She now works as the lead editor for a newspaper called the Metro. Kate also cares deeply for her son Alex, however she worries that the bond between her and her son is not as strong as it is between Alex and his father. This is mainly because of her demanding job which means she doesn't get to see Alex as much as she would like to. | | Sam Lethbridge | Younger Brother | Sam was born exactly 7 years after his older brother Alex, just after the family had all moved to Stourbridge. Sam was loved by his parents, and shared a deep bond with his older brother. Together, he and Alex would go explore the town as Alex had done with his dad. When Sam started school, he easily made friends. This was mainly down to the bright and cheery atitude that he had gained from spending so much time with his older brother. Sam's disappearance during the Easter before Alex's 17th birthday left a major hole in the family which most certainly could never be easily filled. |
| | History: | Alex was born to a proud pair of parents who were proud of their son right from his very first moments alive. Alex at first grew up in Manchester as a happy, healthy kid with a thirst for knowledge and adventure. All seemed to be perfect in the Lethbridge household, and looked set to stay that way. Then, when Alex was six years old, Alex's Dad got an offer for a job in the town of Stourbridge, which was miles and miles away from where they were living. After moving to Stourbridge in the summer, Alex then started school there. He found it reasonably easy to make friends as his parents had taught him to respect others but not to fear them. When Alex was seven years old, his brother Sam was born. Alex vowed he would keep a close watch over Sam and help take care of him. Alex knew that his parents would be busy a lot of the time with their jobs and would need his help to look after Sam. As the years went by Alex followed his promise by looking after Sam. Alex cared a lot for his younger brother and spent a lot of time with him. Sam loved his older brother and developed a deep respect and admiration for his older brother. While Alex was at school, he became particularly strong friends with a boy his own age called Tom. Tom was a similar build to Alex and had a similar personality, but as he grew older he seemed to gain an addiction to having his hair dyed black instead of his natural bright-red, and slicked-back with loads of hair-gel in a style remeniscent of the 1960s. Alex and Tom got on really well together and spent a lot of time together both in school and out of school. Alex's dad taught Alex a lot about computers and Alex then passed this knowledge on to Tom. In return, Tom taught Steve how to play the guitar and the harmonica. Tom also sometimes helped Alex to look after Sam. Alex found out that Tom didn't get on well with his parents, so he often invited Tom over for a few nights so that Tom could get away from the anger, at least for brief periods. All was great in Steve's world - Steve had a younger brother who he cared deeply for, a caring best friend who he felt he could trust his life to, and a pair of loving parents who cared greatly for him. He wished things would stay like that - but things never do stay perfect forever. After Alex and Tom finished school together, they both applied for a job in a local supermarket. They both knew that it wouldn't be glamorous work, but they both felt they'd rather head into a job than into a college. They both worked together on the checkouts and instantly became the comedic double-act of the store's staff team. Tom was still having a hard time at home. Two months after getting the job at the supermarket, he suggested that he and Alex got a flat together as it would keep the costs down if there were two people to pay the bills. Alex still really cared for his parents and his younger brother, but felt that the time had come for him to move on and become more independant. Alex accepted the offer, and the two moved into their new home a month later. Alex was happy - OK, the job wasn't the most glamorous in the world, and the flat wasn't the most beautiful home in the world, and the neighbours weren't exactly the most talkative people in the world. But none of that mattered to Alex - he was just happy to be sharing a house with his best mate with a stable job... But then Alex's whole world turned upside-down that fateful Easter night. Alex and Tom and Sam were all in Alex's parents' back garden, sitting on a bench together nibbling on chocolate eggs and just talking about things. They had had a great day - the best Easter that Alex could remember - and were in the best of moods. Suddenly, the power in the entire street went out - all the lights and everything for the entire neighbourhood suddenly died. The three boys were confused by this, as power-cuts were so rare where they lived - especially in Spring. But stranger things were yet to come. As the three boys were talking about the power cut, there was a sudden flash of insanely bright light that looked almost like a lightning fork had shot across the garden. A couple of seconds later the power came back on. Light flooded the garden to reveal that Sam had completely vanished, leaving only a black burn mark where he had been sitting. Alex and Tom were so shocked by this that they just sat there, open-mouthed, staring at the spot on the grass where Sam had been for over 2 hours. It was only when Alex's parents came out into the back garden to find out why they were so quiet that the realisation of what had happened hit them. They found it hard to explain to Alex's parents what had happened that night when they didn't really understand it themselves. One minute Sam had been there, the next he wasn't. At first, Alex's parents blamed the two of them as they were the only ones there when Sam had disappeared. Alex was so filled with both grief and guilt that it felt like it would rip him in two. However, he did have Tom still, who helped him through the pain and guilt. If it wasn't for his friend, Alex would never have recovered from the loss. Alex never did give up hope that he would eventually find his little brother - or at least find out what happened on that fateful night. Alex still retained the determination, and it was that which helped him keep his hopes alive even though the odds seemed almost impossibly high.
