Please make sure to follow all of these guidelines when you first join the site. All these rules are highly simple and easy to follow so there shouldn't be any issues. We do have a warning system set up and below are things that will cause it to increase. Read ALL of the rules in order to get the pass code that is hidden some where on this page. Other than that, please have fun! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask any of the admins/moderators. General OOC Rules: -Respect all Staff members and Regular members. If one is saying something you do not agree to or is annoying you, then please send a message to one of the admins and not a moderator. Moderators only edit the boards. Not the behaviors of other members. -When posting OOC in some threads, don't. Please keep all Out of Character tidbits in posts to personal messaging please. Otherwise its distracting to the reader and I find it just a bit annoying. -Do not spam in the c-box, advertise other sites, or say offensive things such as profanity. I KNOW your IP address and I WILL ban you from the c-box if I catch any of that on it. -What the admin/mod says GOES. Mods serve under the Admin. If the mod is telling you to do something, it is most likely coming from the Admin. So listen to them or risk being suspended for a week or more. General IC Rules: -When it comes to posting amounts, the minimum I will allow is 200 words or 3 - 5 sentences in TWO paragraphs. That way it shows me that you put the time into it rather than being lazy. I will accept reasons why you couldn't type that much other than 'no muse' or 'little muse' etc. I find that an excuse. Even though I do it a couple times myself, but we all make mistakes. What I will allow is 'UNFINISHED' underneath your post. That shows the player that you are not yet done with it and you will come back to finish it. That I will accept on the site. -Please make sure to check GRAMMAR and SPELLING in your posts and be literate! This is a LITERATE role play! There are no powers, no body modifications, no mutations, etc. This is a place where you will learn about wolves as well as pretend to be one. Something I thought would be interesting to try. If you feel you won't be interested in the above, then this site is not for you. -This site has a rating of PG-13! I will possibly have you check with your parents for those under thirteen to see if you are allowed to play on this site. There is profanity in the posts and such as well as violent situations one will go through when role playing on this site. A wolfs life ain't all flowers and butterflies people. Wolves do die from challenges for lands and pack leadership, punishment by the alpha, starvation and from wounds. Wolves do kill pups to be able to breed once more and for food when prey is scarce. Do be prepared to go through those situations on this site. If you feel you cannot play knowing this, then this site is not for you. -Additional events will occur such as droughts, blizzards, lack of prey, etc. for that happens in real life with a wolf. Be prepared for that and role play accordingly. Directions will be listed with the said event you must follow. I expect all members to participate, but this is not required. I thought I would list this here so you know what is offered on this site. -Challenging -There are certain standards when it comes to challenging. The most important thing I should say before I continue; Your character has a chance of dying when challenging for territory. Yes, I said DYING. In real life two wolves would fight to the death for challenging and even trespassing on another wolfs lands if they did not submit to the alpha first. And even they do submit, the alpha has the option of killing the said wolf trespassing on the alphas territory. So if you cross the borders, what will happen the Admins will not control. Nor will the mods. It is under the judgment of the Alpha that rules that section of land. IF you so happen to make it out alive, depending on the wounds you have received you may die from the loss of blood or infection or predation from another animal. This happens in real life. Be prepared for that. If this is something you find you cannot work with, this site is not for you. Admins and Moderators will NOT be watching it to judge. There are no post limits except for when some one dies or gives up. It is up to the defender/challenger to decide when it ends. Please use a fair amount of dodges/attacks. No power playing, god modding, etc. The first sign of those will result in a warning, suspension and banning all in that order if it continues. I do not want to ban people. -Breeding -There are also specifics you will have to use when breeding to. Breeding can happen ANYWHERE in the lands for one. Most like to hold them in dens, though those rarely happen. Most of the time it is out in the open. There are certain times in the year where breeding and birthing happens and birthing will be listed below. Also know that the female decides when she is ready to breed of course. She may test your limits to see if you would be the best for her pups. Once wolves mate, they mate for life. -Birthing -When it comes to birthing, there is a certain time of the year the female will give birth, and she gives birth inside of her den that she chooses if it is right for her pups. Once the pups are birthed, the female becomes incredibly defensive and will attack anything that gets to close. Including her mate. The reason is because males kill young pups as stated above for food or to once again mate. Pups also will die due to diseases, weather and predation. Out of rare occasion, that may happen to your own pups. When you fill out a birthing log, an Admin/Mod gets the stats for your pups and how many the birthing wolf will have as well as what colors it will be and gender. It is your job to pick names and possible candidates to role play your pups if you give them up for adoption. After two months of the pups being born, the mother usually allows the father to come some what closer to the pups as she begins to trust him. Through all that time only the father hunts. Occasionally but rarely, the female will hunt for herself while the father watches the pups. Once the pups are old enough to remain in the den on their own, the mother will leave the den regularly to hunt for herself. The pair switches places occasionally in hunts to equalize the work and the pup sitting. -Packs -In all circumstances you MUST be submissive if you wish to join a pack. Thus this means no crossing the borders if you don't want your wolf to go through a very violent death. And it is welcome to the other pack members if you are caught trespassing to attack and possibly kill your wolf. Typical signs of submission are: -Passive; Passive submission is more intense than active submission. The wolf rolls on its back and exposes its vulnerable throat and underside. Their paws are drawn into the body. This is often accompanied by whimpering. -Active; In active submission, the entire body is lowered and the lips and ears are drawn back. Sometimes active submission is accompanied by muzzle licking, or the rapid thrusting out of the tongue and lowering of the hindquarters. Their tail is placed down, or halfway or fully between the legs and the muzzle often points up to the more dominant animal. Their back may be partially arched as the submissive wolf humbles itself to its superior. (A more arched back and more tucked tail indicate a greater level of submission.) Reference: http://www.animalcorner.co.uk/wildlife/wolves/wolf_behaviour.html You can also go to that site to get the statistics on all the wolf breeds allowed on this site. If the Alpha thinks you are a threat to his pack even if you are not doing these submission types and chases you off the pack lands, then you will have another chance in the next season for acceptance. No if's and's or buts. -All wolves follow under the alpha. If some one were to break a rule, then they will be punished by the Alpha and only him. Punishments start from rank demoting, injury infliction, banishing and death. -Appearance and Breeds -All appearances, heights, weights, etc. will be uber accurate to match those that exist today. Below are the statistics for species and their heights, lengths and weights as well as pelt and eye colors. Please follow them all accurately. They will be listed on the accepted species list on the next thread you will need to read. The password is WolfMoon Edited by Karma, Feb 10 2009, 08:03 PM.
