Given Name: Ranmaru Other Names: ‘Ran’ Race: Half-Saiyan Physical Age: 25 Actual Age: Unknown Hair Color: Light Brown Eye Color: Green Skin Complexion: Lightly Tanned Alignment: True Neutral Body Type: He stands roughly 5’11”, and weighs in at 190lbs, leaving him to appear rather ‘light’ given that he’s a guy. He’s normally seen in casual clothes, typically t-shirts and jeans, and barring any unusual situations or that he’s working, he keeps himself neat and clean. Perhaps the most unusual thing is that he has no scars on his body. He doesn’t have a tail. History: The result of a forceful joining of a saiyan member of the Mystic Order and a female human, it can be said that it’s nothing short of a miracle Ran’s still alive. Despite the horrific way in which he was conceived, his mother chose not to abort the pregnancy due to religious beliefs. Ran would never have the opportunity to know his father, though, for not only did the man not care about his victim or her to-be child, but while he was still in the womb, Cephra and Ranlyn led their march over the Mystic Order, and Ran’s father was killed. His mother knew nothing of just what a saiyan was, though, living in a small community where anything non-human was very rare. It was so small that it essentially came out of the war intact. But during his early years, a half-saiyan who was assisting in the reconstruction effort happened to stop in the community to check on it. He did know enough to recognize what Ran’s tail meant, and after some discussion, his mother decided to have it removed. The half-saiyan made another offer before he left, as well. He offered to return every couple months to teach Ran of his heritage and what his bloodline was. So began the education and training of a half-saiyan, who until now, thought himself straight-up human. Alex, as the half-saiyan called himself, pressed upon Ran the importance of his saiyan blood, and the need that he learn to defend himself. Ran’s mother pressed upon him the need for an education—he decided to focus on medicine, and began prepping for a medical degree from university. But life as he knew it would take a spin when Ran was seventeen. While he was out gathering herbs (he greatly preferred natural herbs to synthetic chemical-medicines), he happened across a young blue-haired saiyan-looking woman who was badly injured. She had quite the fiery attitude and tried to turn Ran away, but he was stubborn and persistent, and refused to leave her there to die with those wounds. After several minutes of arguing, they came to an agreement, and he carried her to a cave he knew of and over the course of the next couple weeks, treated her injuries. The woman, who he learned was named Zephyr, became a central part of his life during that time. It was the first chance for him to apply what he had learned in the real world—to make a difference and help someone. And she was the second person of saiyan blood, and the first female, he had met. He spent nearly all of his free time looking over her for those couple weeks, and though he was so afraid to admit it, began falling in love. When she was fully recovered, she thanked him for what he had done for her, and told him that she needed to return to her home—though, obviously, with a much longer explanation. It was while she was talking to him that he realized, from her words, the look in her eyes, facial expressions, and gestures, she had feelings for him too. He couldn’t help but protest her leaving, and finally told her of his feelings for her. She acknowledged the protest but made it clear she had to go, and she also let him know that she too had feelings for him. They would spend one night together, and when he awoke in the morning, she was gone. He didn’t bother searching—she had told him she was leaving the planet. And while it was a difficult concept to grasp, he accepted it as truth; after all, she had no reason to lie to him. With the time they shared as a pleasant memory, he went back to his life and continued his education. He had received a scholarship at a rather acclaimed medical university and gladly accepted, moving to an apartment in the city in which it resided and took up a job in the hospital for an income. But he couldn’t forget her, though. Not that he wanted to. He dreamed of her often, and as time passed and relationships failed, he realized he was still very much attached to her. It was then that he decided that he would wait for her to return—something told him that she would be coming back. And he was right. He was twenty-one and had received his undergraduate pre-medicine degree, and he was preparing to enroll in a graduate program for medicine, when he got this feeling that Zephyr had returned. Unable to shake it, he scrambled back to the cave, knowing that if she was there for him, that’s where she’d be. And he was right—filled with joy, he embraced the woman that was his ‘high school sweetheart.’ With some persuasion, he convinced her to move into his apartment with him. The two married a couple years later. And not much more than a year after that, Ran received his graduate degree in medicine. After graduating, he, with his wife, moved off to a small community some hours away from where he went to school. There he serves as town doctor with his ‘different,’ albeit very successful, herbal and natural treatments. |
