Hey guys, have any of you ever used any kind of subtitle maker? You know, a little program that lets you control where and when you can add subtitles to a video. I'm not too picky, but I need something that's userfriendly and easy to use. (I've tried SubtitleCreator and it just crashes my computer). It doesn't necessarily have to be free, I'm just looking for something that works. (I use WinXp if it matters).

Doesn't Windows Movie Maker do that? Otherwise, no suggestions at the moment.

WMM can't add subtitles, just credits and titles. Shame really...

Ulead VideoStudio is a good program to use for that kind of thing. You can determine how long the subtitles remain on screen and their position on screen. Only problem is, it isn't free. Hope that helps.

One idea, Janny, is to look for some TR clips (the amusing ones), on YouTube and ask the creator how they applied theirs. I've seen a lot of funny comments added although some take up the entire screen, annoyingly. That said, I guess you want the programme to add the script subtitles or do you mean you write them in yourself? :ermm:

Just a thought but the Tube is probably a good start. I'll let you know if I come across any with subtitles on my frequent visits as I don't know squat about media applications!

Where's my head at? Check versiontracker.com. I use it all the time, I just didn't think of telling you. It's a great listing of software for various platforms. I just searched for "subtitles" in Windows software, and several freeware title were listed. I haven't tried any, but you ought to find something. Good luck.

Thanks everyone! With a little luck I'll finally get the subs up and running.

Haha, not likely, I'm making subtitles for the sitcom Friends for my father. They'll be in Romanian so I doubt any of you will find it interesting XD
