Just a little tip. Don't know if you are already doing it,but I thought I would pass it along anyway. I put a return" stick on" address label on the back of my cell phone so if ever I lose it there is a chance it may be found by an honest person. Also reminds me where I live |

You Kids with your newfangled Technologies and Words. Why Back in My day they didnt have no add-ress Stickers on no Cell Phones. why if you lost your phone.....it was your own fault....Have it disconnected and buy another. Now to be serious...No I never thought of a sticker....I used have my address as the message that was viewed when you turned the phone on tho. With pretty much the same hopes if It got lost. But Alas I traded in my cell phone so I could Afford Internet. |

Ironically, I never take my mobile phone out with me. When I'm out, I'm out. I managed to survive 30 years without being contactable and I see no urgency to carry a phone now although it is handy if you are worried about becoming separated from your friends/family in a large crowd at some show I suppose. But nothing irks me more than people texting the whole time and speaking on their phones in the damn supermarket. I'd like to see how today's younger generation would cope stranded on a deserted yet plentiful island in the middle of the mediterranean for a few months with no electricity, no generators and no battery power

Mine is mainly for emergency. Actually if someone wants to call me from home the # is on speed dial. For $15 for 3 months and when the $15 is added if theres anything left over from the previous 90 days its simply added to the latest $15. If I get low I just "TOP UP"on the PC or phone or a top up card' Same price per minute ANYWHERE in the USA. Nothing fancy, just texting and talking.I never was one for all those "bells and whistles" Anyway I did accidently leave my phone in the supermarket when I had a coffee.Did not even know I "lost it". Was funny really because my son called me up from his cellphone and was so surprised when he got a reply"Hello this is "Price Choppers" How may I help you"? Edited by PeterB, 8 Sep 2009, 03:13 AM.

The one thing that can be usefull regarding the Mobile Phone is to inserrt the words I C E which is an accronym of ( in case of emergency ) and then followed by the number of one of your family members should it be required by the emergency services. ( ie ) The Fire Brigade The Police Or Ambulance. There are parts of the world that do this but not as much in the U K so to me it sounds a good idea should it be required in the Case of Emergency Circumstances should the occasion arise. Dolphin. |

An excellent idea Dolphin. Thanks for mentioning . Don't know if its the same in the U.K. but in the U.S. there are very few public call boxes left. In the city where I live (pop about 45,000) there are only two left ,which are side by side at one of the supermarkets. btw if you ever here in the States the emergency # is 911 for ALL emergencies.Fire /police/medical. |

Hello Peter B. Yes it is same here very very few public call boxes in the Uk left now as most of them were taken away and sold off but some have been retained in some villages around the country just to retain a bit of British History and posteritory. Most people just have the land line for their ISP connection only and use their mobile as their main phone. I have never been to the U S but do have relations who live in Boston a neice so my brother goes there twice a year to visit them and they keep in regular contact. But apart from the U S I am well travelled to other parts of the world the Far east and all the Baltic capitals and Europe. I recieved the I C E message in an email so as you say its a good idea so I thought it worth while passing on to folk who want to use that system. Thanks. Dolphin. |

Yes I noticed that in the UK the last time I visited. The most overseas travelling I did when I lived in the UK was thanks to being in the army. I have a second Cousin ,a Niece and a Nephew still in the UK. I live about a hundred miles from Boston (aka Beantown). |

I only have cell phones and no landline. With my bad health my phone goes everywhere I go plus I like the fact that no matter where I am I can be reached especially with my dad so ill. |
