Hi all,

I'm sorry I have been unavailable sporadically but I'm climbing the walls with this connection problem - particularly as I don't know what's causing the problem...BT, my telephone line per se or my ISP, Plusnet.

It can go off for 6 straight hours and then flickers on and off sporadically meaning I can't post anything for eons. Then Hotmail keeps flunking.

I'm tempted to sack this ruddy broadband catastrophe and revert to dial-up. At least I got undisrupted connection for two hours with dial-up per session and I can live without YouTube

That stinks that you're internet's down. I'm currently using the neighbor's wireless (i'm in New York, and the neighbors are really close ^_^ ). I remember when we had dial-up at my house. It wasn't terrible, but it was kind of a pain considering my sister was always wanting to use the phone.. <_<

Hi Lo.

Sorry tp here that you are having connection problems just for interest sake what make of Router are you usung is it that or problems with the Telephone Lines.

Have you changed your telephone Filter as that can sometimes cure a connection problem when it is not the Router at fault so I hope you are able to get it sorted out quickly as I know only to well how you feel when the connection goes down

Hi, Dolphin,

Thanks for your interest. I phoned BT and they got me to plug the phone directly into the socket and it seemed the line was clearer but not for long - it was just coincidental that the line was clear when talking to BT and this would definitely indicate a fault with the telephone line since later calls were crackly. If they send out an engineer and he deems the line to be fully functional though and it's my equipment at fault, I will pay a penalty fee of about £150!!! O.O

So I have to make sure I am certain that the line is at fault.

Believe me, I have used three different ethernet cables and tried a few alternative routers. I have a Thomson router and it's generally very good but come weekdays I can be knocked offline for hours at a time - ironically, between 10am and 4pm so there's definitely a BT problem. I rarely get disconnected on a weekend. Funny that....
