Oh my, such vibrant colours! I am not very adept at gardening but can keep certain indoor plants although for some reason they never flower for me even though some are supposed to! Thank you for those, Michelle. It's like a fairyland. Absolutely stunning

Very nice, Michelle! I don't know much about flowers, but I certainly can appreciate the beauty of flowers and your photographs. I'll have to post some of mine sometime. |

Lo, thanks for your reply.![]() I must confess I am a total "plant nerd". We own a small nursery and we grow exotic plants. Even for us, some of the orchid flowers on display seemed almost unreal. Ruum, Thanks! Please do post some of yours... I'm waiting. Just kidding. Edited by michelle, 1 Mar 2009, 01:52 PM.

Hi Michelle, I agree. I actually saw some Orchids in the garden centre shop a few weeks ago and my mother remarked on how real they looked. Erm, that's because they were ![]() But as you insinuate, some can look almost artificial because they are so uniformed and colourful!

These Orchids are so beautiful and colourful and the photos you took are amazing thank you somuch for posting these, sounds like an amazin place to visit, not long now before the colour returns to the British countrysides and thats the best part of the year to see all the colour and greens of the trees and gardens coming out in bloom. Wayne, Thanks for your reply. So glad both of us "plant nerds" found each other. If you're into strange and exotic plants, you can check out our website - www.sunbelleexotics.com Edited by oOwayneOo, 2 Mar 2009, 04:36 PM.

Lovely site and i adore the deep red coloured Orchid, didnt grow any like this when i was growing plants for a living, mainly roses and all bedding plants and im kinda an expert at hanging baskets aswell, had to make up 150 for councel and i took pride in seeing my baskets around the county. Think Baas in Holland would be amazing Michelle, thats another country that can grow stunning flowers, but these in Florida are amazing, if i ever return to the states i must visit this Orchid show in Miami, i think id feel right at home there. |

Lo, Thanks for making my link work. The Sunbelle website is not for orchids (though we love them and grow many as yard plants). All of the photos of plants on our website are carnivorous plants. We grow the types commonly called "pitcher plants" (everyone thinks of a venus fly trap -which we grow as well, but the pitcher plants are a little different). They eat insects and whatever else falls into the trap. Wayne, some of the best pitcher plant hybrids are mass produced in Holland. I was there ten years ago and it's mind-blowing. I'm so pleased to have so many nice responses with my post here. Thank you all for your kind and friendly comments. It's funny, I hesitated to post this here. I thought "No one here cares". Boy, was I wrong. There are more comments on this thread than on the forum just for orchids. Our business is known within the community of other growers. I'm active on the online forums for these plants, even a moderator on one site. Some of those other people in the pitcher plant forum have managed to suck the joy out of the hobby. They are some crazy people too. We even had plants stolen out of our greenhouse, and we know who took them. I sometimes equate collecting these rare plants with art collecting. It's so nice to interact with normal and nice people here. I wanted to thank you again for being so kind to me. Everyone, you are truly wonderful! |
