I am not so sure that SAM's could have caught up with this one.. To bad it was cancelled.. It was manly to be sure.

The bursting altitude for a SAM-2 was 60,000 feet. The B-2 cruised well above that..

B-2? Thought this was about the B-70.....

And according to wiki that had a ceiling above 70,000 and was shelved due to SAM missile developments. Especially after the U-2 was taken down.

Not a favorite of mine, no heart and soul. But for it's time it was pretty advanced. It looks more like it came from a sci-fi show rather than something that came from Boeing.

Powers was shot down because his U-2 broke and the SAM caught him below 60,000 I know what Wiki said as I have seen it.

Sig may be right about the nuclear tipped SAM's. Hopefully the heathen russkies were not EMP hardened.
