One year ago many fans were at Millersville University for one of Taylor's best concerts. It was an intense and memorable appearance. He is always passionate about his music. Millersville videos prove that! Relive this great concert with the videos, pictures and Bus Stop memories on Take 2... Thanks, Gypsee, for taking us back and sharing your thoughts and memories of Millersville. http://z15.invisionfree.com/TaylorMade/index.php?showtopic=6106&st=0&#entry8766740 Edited by san, Oct 11 2008, 02:37 PM.

Shoofly pie (or shoo-fly pie) is a molasses pie considered traditional among the Pennsylvania Dutch and also known in Southern cooking. The dessert has earned quite a reputation in the "Dutch Country" of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where its distinctive flavor and texture is quite alluring to tourists. courtesy of luvmytaytayShoo-fly pie And apple pan dowdy Make your eyes light up And your stomach say "howdy. It has hosted numerous PSAC and NCAA championship events for basketball and wrestling during its history. The gymnasium also serves as an arena for special events including commencement ceremonies and concerts. In 2001, the MU volleyball team moved permanently from Brooks Hall Gymnasium to Pucillo for intercollegiate competition. In addition to the main court, three practice courts are available for tournament play. The main gymnasium consists of three levels: main floor, balcony, and basement. The main floor contains a regulation-size basketball court with collapsible bleachers, two instructional basketball courts, and eight badminton courts. During the summer of 1996, the basketball floor surface was completely resurfaced and remarked with new lines, court perimeter markings, and an attractive 'Ville logo in the center jump circle. Also located on the main floor are faculty offices, six spacious locker rooms (including those for the MU men's and women's basketball teams), and fully-equipped training and equipment facilities. The balcony level has four sets of collapsible bleachers. When collapsed, the balcony floor is used for gymnastics and track practices. Faculty offices and classrooms are also located on the balcony level. A spacious gymnasium press box balcony provides an excellent vantage point for media to cover Marauder basketball and wrestling contests. The basement houses a specially-constructed wrestling room with a foam-padded floor and walls to ensure safety. The gymnasium is named in honor of Dr. John A. Pucillo, who served with distinction as coach, athletic director, and administrator at Millersville from 1925 to 1957. The trophy cases in the main lobby were donated by the friends and family of Elwood F. Finley III, a Millersville graduate who died at age 24. As a student, Mr. Finley was a member of the football and men's track teams and served as manager for the men's basketball squad. Total gymnasium seating capacity for basketball and wrestling is 3,000. OPENING ACT: Alumni Services has sponsored a 'ville Idol's Contest. REVEIW AND MEDIA: ![]() A HERO COMES HOME TO MILLERSVILLE A couple of months ago, I received an email from Soldiers' Angels. There was a man in the Air Force stationed in Kuwait, 20 miles from Iraq, who was looking for a Heart Full Of Soul book by Taylor Hicks. I hadn't checked my troop drive email for several days, and when I did check it, there was an email from this man to me too. He knew about the Proud Of Our Troops drive and wanted to read Taylor's book. So off went a box of goodies, including Taylor's Heart Full Of Soul book, to my new buddy Ted. We corresponded via emails, and then another twist of fate took place. Ted told me that he was from PA, and he went to college in Millersville before he was called overseas for active duty. He was set to come back home shortly before Taylor's concert, and he wanted to know if I knew of any way he could get tickets to Taylor's Millersville concert. Being in Kuwait, there was no way for Ted to buy the tickets to the concert. All I could think was "Wow, this is fate!" I proceeded to tell Ted that I run the Proud Of Our Troops drive by myself, but what a coincidence because I was also part of Taylor's Angels, and that is part of what our group does. Not a problem, I told him. If he wanted to go to Taylor's concert, then he would go. I prayed that Ted would arrive home safely, and also that he wouldn't get last minute notice that he had to stay overseas longer than he expected. I pestered my Taylor's Angels group with questions and worries. "You don't think he'll get notice that he has to stay longer, do you?," I'd ask with worry. My Taylor's Angels group lovingly and patiently answered the same questions over and over to keep me from worrying. Then the email I was waiting for finally came. Ted had arrived home safely! I was so happy for him! His active duty was finally over and he could start his life anew. Taylor's Angels kicked into gear to get Ted and his family to the concert. He was excited that he was going to his first Taylor Hicks concert. A reporter contacted him to do a story on him. The story has yet to come out, but hopefully when it does, we can put it here. The wonderful hearted concert promoter was so touched by Ted's story that he also wanted to do something nice for Ted. He got Ted and his family meet and greets! How exciting for Ted! He was going to meet Taylor! Although I did not go to the Millersville concert, Ted told me that he had an awesome time. Fate had struck once again. A man so far away wanted Taylor's book and a way to get concert tickets, and he ended up talking to the very person who ran a Heart Full Of Soul book drive to the troops and was part of a group who could get him the concert tickets. A man who spent years in a hot desert, doing his part to keep our country free, was finally home safe and sound, and got to do some very special things. God bless Ted. God bless the troops. Jean (PurpleButterflies) SOUL PATROL MEMORIES: courtesy of wmarine 1. Gypsee ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! By far one of the most relaxed and fun shows, ....He was playful with the audience, sang his heart out, and just was totally terrific..... Dark gray shirt, blue jeans, scruffy hair....nice casual look. You could just tell he was having fun up there....He played with the audience a lot and it so evident he was in high spirits, it just infected the entire place! 2. TaylorHicksFanForever What an amazing concert last night.... My family and I went to see Taylor for the first time ever last night, and it was so awesome!!! I..... When anyone doubts he should of won American Idol, just send them to one of his concerts.... He is a true Artist!!!! Great Concert Taylor!!!! courtesy of cochem3. emmax Now for the drummer story. The song was LWH and you know how at the beginning there is lots of drums and then Taylor does the harp well this guy started the song you know its like 2 or 3 times well this guy takes the opportunity to keep soloing at the beginning part and Taylor and Loren were cracking up. Just when you thought he was done he did it again so now its like 6 times and the band is laughing hard now and then the guy throws the stick in the air after the solo and more laughing and finally Taylor says something 'OK enough of him' omg it was priceless. 4 Mandy “Take the Long Way Home” was going to close the show. Taylor’s harp was the best I’ve heard yet. I’ve always wanted to see Taylor play the harp off the stage, and tonight that’s how he ended his performance. He continued to play as he walked across the stage, no wave, no good-bye, just walking and playing. As he descended steps behind a curtain, I later heard him say “Thank you, guys. See you later”. The band finished the song, and then the concert was over. When the lights came up, it was obvious the ending tonight had touched a lot of people – quite a few people around me were expressing the emotion with tears, including this ringmaster! 5. txavier ..., the concert itself was beyond wonderful. His voice was strong and he was very loose. These highlights stand out for me: His version of The Right Place was very bluesy and almost dreamlike. ....I had tears streaming down our face during this soulful performance. I also loved the way he did the back and forth with Brian playing horn and him mimicking with his harp. He was more experimental with the harp several times it seemed to me. I was right next to the stage for his acoustic solo and was in awe watching him put his soul into the performance. courtesy of PayTheDevil6. marcy I also felt that this show was more like the AI shadow shows...so loose and comfortable...I especially love it when Taylor is raw and bluesy...the more, the better! 7. blueberry Comments by blueberry who brought two neophyte gentlemen to the show. I thought Taylor was very energetic and talkative, most of the songs he sang were off Taylor Hicks or his originals, I think the two exceptions were Happer With Him and Take The Long Way Home. Guy #1 was impressed with the orginals, he thinks that's Taylor at his best - hard to argue with him, he actually listened to the Taylor's first two CD's post concert - My Friend and Heart and Soul, his favorites. Guy #2 (band guy) couldn't take his eyes off the band. I've read that some people didn't think the band was as tight this time, but he kept saying that he didn't expect the professionalism or talent that he saw, he wondered who put the band together! Josh and Al kept his interest and the few times I glanced his way, he was moving and very intent on the show. I told him to expect some harmonica and I was getting a bit nervous it wouldn't materalize, then the bit with Taylor and Brian happened, he said that alone made the trip more than worthwhile! Big smiles from everyone on that one! the "Soul Patrol" shout outs, while maybe not my favorite thing, were well played and not obtrusive at all. They were well received by the crowd. They work. The first song in the encore, Happier with Him, leaves no doubt that if he scales back the band next year, he'll still give a hell of a performance! 8. LindaJ from England Taylor's voice was incredible very strong and in great tone he was pitch perfect I didn’t hear a single bum note...I would have heard because I feel every off note Taylor makes it pierces me just like a dagger. There is something about his voice that moves me in a way that few artists can and Taylor get’s into this zone when he performs, cutting off everything but his intense concentration on his music I’ve never seen anything like it.... this I can’t get out of my mind...... it’s haunted me since my return from America. .... Just before “Runaround” Taylor asked “How many of you from Millersville” and Mary lent over and whispered “He’s going to mention you” Then he asked “How many are not from Millersville” which got a huge response.....Then it came “Well one of you is from England and I appreciate you coming all the way over the pond”....he was able to locate me in the crowd because the girls were all pointing at me “When did you fly in.... last night? And you got here for me today” then he pointer to me and said .......”Fellow Englander Soul Patroller” He’ll never know just how much he touched me doing that and thanks to EJ and Jaxnative I have it on video and have screenshots for eternity. Thank you both once again! Edited by mouser, Oct 12 2008, 03:25 PM.

What wonderful memories you all put together from Millersville, which was the last time I saw Taylor - Of the six tours I saw last year, Millersville was my very favorite! I was just amazed at the depth and intensity of his music that night - it was truly my most memorable performance of them all (but of course I loved each of them separately) - Thanks for a great look back at a very special night - |
