SOUL PATROL MEMORIES :

Kat finishes - and the place goes dark, and all of a sudden, my husband is practically BEATING me, going" Jen!! There he is !!! .... and I look up..... he is RIGHT at the TOP of OUR STARS.

I start shaking, and my knees are locked...
He's coming down the stairs, and the screaming is DEAFENING.

I'm not screaming because I don't want to disrupt him while he 's singing, and I don't want to freak him out - so I'm silent.
My husband starts pushing up against me going" Touch him Jen ! He's right there !.

So ....I touched Taylor right there on the shoulder. and I looked right at him - and he had his head down, and his eyes closed, and the BIGGEST FREAKING SMILE on his face... and he smelled so freaking good...

He was singing JYR and as he walked away from me ...I starrted to crumble.

It was very very obvious at the Staples center who they came to see.... it was DEAFENING in there...and he did NOT disappoint - he was in FULL VOICE, EXCELLENT!!! and he did HOLLYWOOD NIGHTS !!! YOWZA !!!

Since its stellar opening in 1993, the world-famous Viper Room has hosted the likes of Johnny Cash, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Stone Temple Pilots, Bruce Springsteen, Oasis, Counting Crows, Lenny Kravits, Pearl Jam, Iggy Pop, Porno For Pyros, Sandra Bernhardt, Sheryl Crow, Dennis Rodman, and Hunter S. Thompson, as well as an array of other internationally-established artists and the cult favorites of America's underground. This intimate nightclub, owned by Darin Feinstein, Bevan Cooney and Blackhawk Capital Partners, Inc. is styled in the fashion of Harlem's great jazz clubs of the 1920's.

To those who have never visited the Viper Room before, you will find it surprisingly cozy, holding only 250 people. Giving fans the opportunity to see national headlining artists that sell out arenas perform for them in an intimate environment has become one of the club's trademarks. Another tradition that the Viper Room has consistently upheld is to treat unsuspecting patrons to outstanding surprise performances and special guest appearances. Customers here will find themselves treated with the same professionalism and hospitality as those familiar faces of the Hollywood limelight that may be standing next to you at the door. These character traits have set this club apart from the multitude of Hollywood nightspots, and guests here can be assured that they will leave having had a unique and memorable experience.

The club is divided into two floors. In the upstairs main room, you will find live performances, a live DJ, an open dance floor, booth seating (limited) and a full bar. The downstairs lounge opens to the public around 10:30 pm nightly and is designed like an intimate parlor. The lounge also hosts a fully-stocked bar.

Taylor Hicks' Viper Room Romp

Posted Aug 28th 2006 3:17PM by TMZ Staff

TMZ has already reported that Taylor Hicks, Bucky Covington and Elliott Yamin skipped out on their "Idol" tour after-party, full of autograph signing and kodak moments with the kiddies, to obtain some serious music industry cred by playing at the notorious Hollywood rock club Viper Room.

Well here's what went down inside. Taylor jammed with the Little Memphis Blues Orchestra, along with members of his own band.

Hicks sang, played harmonica .... in front of a sold-out crowd that wasn't interested in hearing any pop music covers or standards. Amen!

Elliott and Bucky also got in on the action to the delight of the packed house which included tons of screaming fans, but unlike their earlier gig at Staples Center, none of the 12-year-old variety.

CAST OF CHARACTERS:

Sam Gunderson, guitar
Mitch Jones, bass
Zippy Dietrich, drums
Brian Less, keyboards
Jeff Lopez, sax, flute
Rick Carter, guitar
Elliott Yamin, guest vocals
