With granite and marble-tiled walls and floors, extra-wide concourses and in-seat, computerized food ordering, this new state-of-the-art indoor venue brings Denver to the forefront of high-tech and luxurious entertainment space. Located downtown, the new home of the Colorado Avalanche hockey team and Denver Nuggets basketball team can hold between 18,000 to 20,000 people, depending on the event. The center also hosts numerous large-scale musical concerts and conventions.
Ground was broken for the arena on November 20, 1997, on the 4.6 acre site. Its completion in October of 1999 was marked by a Celine Dion concert.

Herman's Hideaway was the stop for LMBO, Taylor , Ace, Elliott, Bucky and Katherine after their American Idol Performance:

Rockin’ Denver for over 25 years and getting S. Broadway drunk since 1962! Herman’s has hosted +25,000 bands with 3-5 bands a night every Wed.-Sat. The Venue has a capacity of 500 and has helped launch the careers of groups such as Big Head Todd and the Monsters and Opie Gone Bad. The Hideaway stage has been rocked by the talents of Faith No More, 311, The Fray, Dave Matthews Band, Widespread Panic, Phish, Brett Dennen, Tab Benoit, Doug Kershaw… Today, newcomers get a chance to break into the scene in a weekly showcase of new talent on Wed., and on busy nights, the dance floor is a swirling mass of grooving chaos. On the weekends the only thing that you can count on is the music will be good and that the dance floor will be full of the happiest people in Denver!

A casual crowd and friendly, family-feeling staff make Herman’s a fun place to go even if you don’t know who’s playing. And even if you don’t like the act on stage, you won’t want for entertainment: Sooner or later, someone will get drunk and provide a sideshow. Just don’t let it be you.

Herman Roth passed away November 21, 1997 at the age of 91. Herman’s son, Allan Roth, and Grandson, Mike Roth, are keeping the tradition going to this day. Allan started booking musical acts into Herman’s in 1982. Allan has made Herman’s the venue of choice in Denver for new bands on their way to the top. Thanks to the Roths you’re always guaranteed a good band will be playing whenever you come to Herman’s.

Hickifino and myself got the Herman's Hideaway gig for LMBO. We worked with LMBO's manager to set everything up. AmericanIdol.com even published a story on their front page about the shadow tours that LMBO was doing, so I'm going to guess that the Idols were not breaking the rules by showing up at these gigs. Kat did seem uncomfortable, but I'm not sure why. The people at this gig were very well behaved. She did go to back and downstairs to the band room. It was a small space and pretty smoky. Maybe that is why she didn't stay long
