With virtually every inch of its interior plastered over with vernacular art by largely untrained Southern artists, this Grand Strand version of the House of Blues franchise is by far the most aesthetically interesting bar, restaurant, and musical venue in Myrtle Beach. You'll recognize it by a design that emulates a rusted hulk you might have found deep in the Mississippi Delta, the kind of battered venue that might be appropriate for a religious revival and the laying-on of hands. Redolent of bourbon and live jazz, however, it's more urbanized and hip than the folk-art setting would imply. The labyrinthine interior features indoor/outdoor bars and several dining areas. There's even a rear veranda where a collection of antique hubcaps is elevated to a kitschy, and very charming, art form. Culinary fare includes fish, burgers, salads, steaks, ribs, and all the Southern staples you can handle. Awesome show. Awesome band. One of the best concerts I've ever been to. Taylor sounded great and is one of the best live performers to come along in a long, long time. He worked the crowd and had the entire place rocking for the whole show. The band is tight and talented. Each musician had several extended solos. Is was the best possible combination of talented, polished professionals...that were also jamming and improvising. Overall...great concert. Highly recommended. posted by thomasdb courtesy of cydterCameras were not allowed in the theater. 2. Shadowstroker I was so excited throughout the entire concert that I can't remember a thing. I will say that I wore earplugs the entire time and it didn't affect the sound at all. In fact, I think I could hear everything better because they filtered out all of the chatter in the venue and, my ears didn't ring at all when it was finished. All I can say is that I don't really like the cd, but after hearing the songs live, I have a new appreciation of the music. I wish he had a live cd of the same songs because the ROCKED!!! He did perform my favorite, Hell of a Day, although I didn't like the almost disco-like feel to the baseline. When he sang Heart and Soul, though...ohhhhh it was great. I'm so glad that he was able to perform his old songs. I tried my hardest not to sing along...I wanted to hear and feel the music. courtesy of cydter3. cydter He got all sentimental when he walked out 4. avergrl It was a jam-packed house that night and the crowd was really into Taylor's performance. About halfway through the show, Taylor turned to Josh and said "I really love this". You couldn't hear him on the microphone but I was first row and mesmerized and I could definitely tell what he said. The connection between Taylor and his audience was so satisfying both ways. That made me realize how much he loved performing for us that night. I gained a lot of respect for Tay because he was doing what he loved best and we were loving what he was doing. |
