Oh, I may wander, but when I do I will never be far from you. You're in my blood and I know you'll always be. Arkansas, you run deep in me. "Arkansas" Wayland Holyfield March 20 Tuesday 8:00 The Robinson Center Music Hall 7 Statehouse Plaza ( Markham @ Broadway) Little Rock, Arkansas 72211 501-376-4781 TICKETS: $39.50 SEATING CAPACITY: 2609 ![]() HOTELS AND RESTAURANTS: http://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-6614...BjqSJTaCgSnUWoL http://www.littlerock.com/dining/ THE ROBINSON CENTER: ![]() The most notable architectural feature of the complex is the south façade of Joseph Taylor Robinson Municipal Auditorium (since referred to as Robinson Center Music Hall), adorned with columns that echo the Greek Revival style also found in the centerpiece of the plaza, the Old State House Museum. Additional meeting space complementing Robinson Center's offerings are located to the east of the Old State House, inside Statehouse Convention Center. The center is named for Joseph Taylor Robinson, a powerful former U.S. Senator and Congressman and Arkansas governor, and is one of several locations and facilities that bear his name. The Robinson Center Music Hall and Performance Theater is the primary performance space for the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, traveling productions of popular Broadway plays and musicals, and various concerts throughout the year. It seats 2,609. The adjoining exhibition hall and meeting areas host conventions for a wide variety of organizations. Robinson Center is administered by the Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau, a city government division which maintains its main office there. Enjoyed the concert. He's got a strong, whiskey-tenor voice and the band is excellent. WOW to the keyboard and lead guitar players. Lots of great harp from Taylor too and some cool Sam Cooke tags. Taylor thanked his American Idol fans ("thanks for voting for me"); nice to see that he appreciates those fans and the AI show. He seems like a good guy along with being one heck of a musician and performer. Michael Warren was a solid opening act, I really liked his version of "Ain't No Sunshine". courtesy of mystaria2. Explosive is putting it mildly, Hicks is on fire!Taylor commands the stage and the audience the moment he arrives. He is mezmerising and his energy is contagious.I DEFY ANYONE TO SAY THAT THEY WERE ABLE TO SIT STILL THROUGH THIS CONCERT!We have waited a long time for someone of Hicks caliber. The IT factor is written all over him! OUTSTANDING CONCERTS! courtesy of Janet-PA3. I was one of those who enjoyed this show. The talent that Taylor has is his ability to "read" the audience and then improvise a song to fit the mood. In other words, he is never predictable, he never sings a song the same way twice. He is at his best of course when he sings the songs that are closest to his own genre -- GONNA MOVE, SOUL THING and of course the song Ray Charles would have recorded had he not died -- THE RIGHT PLACE. He paced the concert very well giving the audience both fast, energetic upbeat music ( e.g. HEAVEN KNOWS -- his tribute to Ray ), dramatic ballads ( Just to Fee That Way ) and gritty blues ( HEART AND SOUL ). There really is nothing like watching him perform live. If you limit yourself to just listening to him, yuo're missing half the fun. He is more a visual entertainer than anything else.
