Way down in Missouri where I learned this lullaby, When the stars were blinkin' and the moon was climbin' high, Seems I hear voices low, as in days long ago, Singin' hush-a-bye. Missouri by J.R. Shannon ST. CHARLES, MISSOURI March 21, 2007 BOTTLENECK BLUES BAR / SOLD OUT Ameristar Casino 1260 South Main Street St. Charles, MO 63301 800.325.7777 or 636.949.7777 SEATING CAPACITY: 300 HOTELS AND RESTAURANTS: http://www.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&...=local&ct=title RIVERFRONT / ST. CHARLES The Riverfront and historic Main Street is a charming area where the people of St. Charles and surrounding cities gather to celebrate several events throughout the year. It is a central meeting place and focal point for the community featuring both residences and businesses open year-round. Each block features shops, restaurants and offices that visitors and locals frequent. Much is planned for the development and improvement of the area, including Northward extension of the KATY Trail, residential and commercial development, parking garage expansion, casino expansion and new hotels. BOTTLENECK BLUES BAR Designed as a 1930s theatre revived into a jumpin' Delta blues club, the Bottleneck Blues Bar is creatively themed throughout with vintage-style chandeliers, playbills, folk art and other artifacts reminiscent of that colorful time and place. The BBB also presents live music with a line-up that includes ticketed national acts and free shows featuring the best in local and regional talent. The veneue was small, there were a little over 300 of us by my count. But the performance was pure dynamite. If you love Taylor's eclectic taste in music, you will love this show. It has everything for everyone. He is also very generous with his time after the show during the meet and greet ( even when he looked clearly spent after his high energy performance ). courtesy of strawgirl2. I went to the show to see Taylor Hicks and didn't realize how much I would enjoy his band too. They are serious musicians who love what they do. Taylor is a singer and entertainer but first he's a musician. These guys are great together! courtesy of sunnydey3. No opening act at this intimate venue, just Taylor and his band giving us their all for almost 90 minutes. It looked like Taylor was enjoying the club vibe and being close to his fans. He talked with us a lot and danced even though the stage was small. And he joked with us too:"who says folks in Alabama got no rhythm?". He sang with passion. You know, until he was drenched in sweat and than gave us some "Let's Get It On". OK, that was perfect. The band was tight, loose, jamming and professional. Yeah, they were all those things at once! Taylor is a very charasmatic live performer. I read that off stage he is quiet and reserved, as many entertainers are. But when he takes a stage, he's on fire. |
