'American Idol': Taylor Hicks set to make results show announcement "American Idol" has been very good to its own over the years, and based on what we are hearing now that is going to continue with Taylor Hicks during Thursday night's results show. In a new post on his Twitter account, the season 5 champion revealed that there is going to be at the show to make a rather big announcement (likely pertaining to his own career): "I have some exciting news to announce tonight on@AmericanIdol !" Hicks also spent some time at the CBS lot Thursday with another former winner in Kris Allen, who is getting set to perform his new single "The Vision of Love" during the show. It's unclear what sort of announcement Hicks is going to make, but we admit that there is a part of us subtly hoping that he will be landing some sort of TV hosting gig with his engaging personality. credit to KA http://www.examiner.com/article/american-idol-taylor-hicks-set-to-make-results-show-announcement Taylor shows his support for the Final 7 on American Idol before making his BIG ANNOUNCEMENT . ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Birmingham's Taylor Hicks to perform 40 shows this summer at Bally's in Las Vegas Published: Thursday, April 19, 2012, 10:14 PM , April 19, 2012, 10:34 PM By Mary Colurso -- The Birmingham News al.com BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- Taylor Hicks on the Las Vegas Strip. If that sounds catchy to you, well, you're not alone. Hicks -- a singer-songwriter, Hoover native and former "American Idol" winner -- has booked a summer engagement at Bally's Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. He'll be there for eight weeks, starting June 26, at Bally's The Indigo Lounge. Hicks will perform five shows per week, at 7 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through Saturdays. "Vegas is where Sinatra’s Rat Pack and America’s greatest talents make musical history," Hicks said in a statement. "To join those ranks is both humbling and thrilling. My goal is to live up to that legacy of live showmanship." Hicks, 35, is the first "Idol" winner to sign a deal for a residency in Las Vegas. And, in a way, he's coming full circle. It's the city where Hicks auditioned for "Idol" in 2005, earning a golden ticket to Hollywood and a chance to compete on the 2006 season of the Fox TV reality show. During Wednesday's episode of "Idol," Hicks made a brief announcement about his Las Vegas stint during an interview with series host Ryan Seacrest. He also announced one of the musical guests on the program, 2009 winner Kris Allen. "Excited about performing @ballysvegas this summer!" Hicks said on his Twitter feed, shortly after his "Idol" cameo. Tickets for Hicks' concerts at Bally's go on sale by phone at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21. Prices are $29.99 and $59.99, plus service charges; they include a meet-and-greet with the singer. Call 888-746-7784 or 702-777-776. On May 15, tickets will be available at the Bally's box office and website. Note: Alabama folks who can't make the trip to Vegas will be able to see Hicks this month in his home state. He's performing April 29 at the Panoply Arts Festival in Huntsville. http://www.al.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2012/04/taylor_hicks_las_vegas_ballys.html |

A place to talk about TV by Amanda Miller Man, just when you think you have Idol down to a science… Welcome to tonight’s bottom 3 which unfolded precisely as I called the previous night. Hollie and Joshua got summoned first, Hollie was dumped into the bottom 3. http://blog.timesunion.com/television/american-idol-well-that-was-a-results-show/4376/ Taylor Hicks will soon be performing in Vegas. (Photo credit: (nz)dave) Kris Allen performed, Taylor Hicks introduced him, and I still think Taylor Hicks is awesome. (Yes, my family voted for him. My baby niece would clap and giggle everytime he was on screen, so we wanted him around. She would fuss a bit whenever Kat McPhee was on screen, which is pretty much how I felt.) Elise and Jessica were summoned next, and Elise was quickly banished to the bottom 3. I said to my co-watcher that because Ryan had told us that tonight was going to be a shocking result, that whoever was in the bottom 3 with them was the one going home. So finally after some ridiculous repetitive song called “Sorry for Party Rocking” that made me want to punch everyone involved (LMFAO I am looking at you), Ryan Seacrest summons the final three – Skylar, Colton, and Philip. Skylar’s an easy safe, but then Ryan puts MY prediction for winner since Top 24 in the bottom 3. And that kids, is how your dreams crumble in 30 seconds. As you may know, spoiler alert, it was Colton whose Idol journey ended. I was shocked but at the same time, the judges threw him right under that bus last night. Elise got sympathy votes for her dog and people who want to see more of that handsome soccer scuse me football player kept Hollie around. So who IS going to win it? And how much longer can Elise and Hollie hang on? I think at this point it’s probably very likely that it’s Philip who will win this by virtue of being the only white guy with a guitar left. If not him, it will be Jessica because girl can sing. Are you down with the Philip train? Who are you backing for the title of American White Dude With Guitar Idol? ---------------------------------------- CBS Celebrity Circuit http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-31749_162-57417626-10391698/american-idol-colton-dixon-exits-six-singers-remain/ Next up is season 8 winner Kris Allen, singing "The Vision of Love", his new single. I'm a fan of his, and I really like a lot of the stuff I have heard for his new album. This performance really showed how much he's grown since his American Idol days. I hope the song does well. (He was introduced by Taylor Hicks, which was interesting since Taylor is usually not seen on American Idol much anymore, but it was great to see.) ----------------------------------------------- BroadwayWorld.com http://lasvegas.broadwayworld.com/article/Broadway-Veteran-Taylor-Hicks-to-Play-Ballys-Las-Vegas-in-June-20120420 As announced on “American Idol” last night, Taylor Hicks, winner of the show’s fifth season, will have an eight-week engagement headlining at Bally’s Las Vegas beginning Tuesday, June 26, 2012. Hicks will play in The Indigo at Bally’s Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. Hicks appeared in the 2007 Broadway revival of GREASE as 'Teen Angel.' Ticket prices are $29.99 and $59.99, which includes a meet and greet with Hicks. Additional service fees apply. Advance ticket sales begin Saturday, April 21 at 10 a.m. and are available by calling (888) 746-7784 or (702) 777-7776, and will be available in person at the Bally’s Box Office and online at www.ballyslasvegas.com beginning Tuesday, May 15. |

Taylor Hicks Does VegasLas Vegas : NV : USA | Apr 21, 2012 By Sherrill Fulghum Taylor Hicks with a live performance of "Do I Make You Proud" Returning to the scene of the crime, the silver haired season five winner of “American Idol” – Taylor HicksTaylor Hicks – will become the first Idol alum to have his own residency – although rather short – in Las Vegas. Beginning June 26 for five nights a week Hicks will begin an eight week residency in the Indigo Lounge at Bally’s Las Vegas – a casino on the Las Vegas Strip. Hicks will be performing on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights beginning at 7pm. Speaking on his impending residency Hicks said, “a residency in Las Vegas is one of those opportunities an entertainer dreams about. Vegas is where Sinatra’s Rat Pack and America’s greatest talents make musical history. To join those ranks is both humbling and thrilling. My goal is to live up to that legacy of live showmanship.” Hicks first revealed the coming concert stint on the April 19 – Now and Then Results show – when Ryan SeacrestRyan Seacrest spoke to Hicks in the Idol audience. Included in the deal Hicks has included a meet and greet with his fans. Hicks began his Idol journey at the Las Vegas auditions in 2005 when after receiving a free airline voucher for anywhere in the US, Hicks was trapped in New Orleans with Hurricane Katrina bearing down on the city. Taking a chance; Hicks chose Las Vegas, and as the saying goes, the rest is history. The Birmingham, Alabama native first won over the Idol judges and later the fans – known as the Soul Patrol - with his blue-eyed soul to eventually win the title over singer/actress Katherine McPhee. Hicks’ self titled debut album was certified gold and later platinum for selling one million copies. His debut single “Do I Make You Proud” topped the Billboard singles charts. Since winning Idol Hicks has shared the stage with Willie Nelson, Snoop Dog. Gladys KnightGladys Knight, Earth Wind and Fire, The Allman Brothers, and played the role of the teen angel in the hit Broadway show “Grease”. He has also performed with James BrownJames Brown, Tom PettyTom Petty, Jackson BrowneJackson Browne, Robert Randolph, Keb’ Mo’, and Widespread Panic. Advance ticket sales for the Taylor Hicks Las Vegas show - $29.99 and $59.99 - are now available from the Bally Box Office, by calling 888-746-7784 or 702-777-7778, or online at www.ballyslasvegas.com. 'American Idol' Winner Taylor Hicks gets a Gig at Bally's Las Vegas Taylor Hicks had created quite an impression when he had won the 5th installment of “American Idol”, anyone who had listened to him then had expected him make his mark in the music world. Simon Cowell too had seen the potential star in him. Unfortunately for Taylor though, things didn’t turn out as well as he would have probably liked; this despite the fact that, he is a great singer. Success as they say is 99% perspiration and 1% luck, and it’s probably this one percent that was sorely missing as far as his career graph was concerned. But it’s recently been revealed that Taylor has managed to bag his very own show on the Las Vegas Strip. Although it’s a shot term show, the fact cannot be denied that, this is a great opportunity for Taylor to remind people of how good he is and why many of them had like him on American Idol 5 and thus had voted for him. An announcement was made by the officials at the casino where he would be performing that, Taylor who hails from Alabama will get an opportunity to entertain audiences for eight whole weeks. The show will raise its curtains to an audience on June 26th. Hicks, is basically returning to his Mecca of sorts when he returns to Las Vegas, with him having won his coveted title in this very city back in 2005. In American Idol, he had stolen the hearts of the audiences by exhibiting his finesse with renditions of the Blues, R&B, Country and Southern Soul. Another fact worth mentioning is that, Taylor is the first guy amongst all American Idol winners or finalists to have bagged a gig at Las Vegas. Hence, it wouldn’t be surprising if Taylor pours his heart and soul into every performance, as this is clearly his moment under the sun. http://www.tvrage.com/news/839/american-idol-winner-taylor-hicks-gets-a-gig-at-bally-s-las-vegas |

Today News Gazetter Taylor Hicks In Las Vegas Posted by Staff on April 22, 2012 Fans of the American Idol season five champion Taylor Hicks received some exciting news from the man himself during the April 19th Idol results show. Hicks will bring his winning brand of soul to the Las Vegas Strip for an eight-week residency at Bally’s beginning June 26th. For five nights a week, Bally’s Indigo Lounge will host the harmonica-playing blues-belter. Hicks has kept a relatively low profile throughout 2012, making the Las Vegas residency all the more significant. With his extensive touring experience prior to his 2006 Idol win, Hicks has always been at home on the road. Forty shows in Las Vegas will give existing Soul Patrol devotees a common destination to see him perform, while offering an extended opportunity for the singer to build his fan base. “It’s not every day that a property on the Las Vegas Strip can announce that an American Idol winner will be a headlining act,” said Bally’s Las Vegas President David Hoenemeyer in the resort’s press release. As an added bonus, the shows will include a meet-and-greet with Hicks. The singer’s eagerness to connect with fans has been an important aspect of his performances, including his own shows as well as the 18 months he spent touring as Teen Angel in Grease. “I literally hand-delivered 25,000 copies of my last record [The Distance] directly to fans during the Grease tour,” Hicks told Blogcritics during an exclusive interview last year. “I couldn’t believe that, but I loved it.” __ http://todaynewsgazette.com/entertainment-news/taylor-hicks-in-las-vegas/__ |

Yahoo Music. com Taylor Hicks Talks Vegas, Baby, Vegas!. By Lyndsey Parker Reality Rocks – Fri, Apr 20, 2012 9:14 PM EDT .... American Idol" Season 5 champion Taylor Hicks reared his famous silver head on this past Thursday night's "Idol" results show, not only to very excitedly introduce guest performer Kris Allen, but to announce his upcoming residency on the Las Vegas Strip: Taylor will headline an eight-week run at Bally's, kicking off June 26. Reason for a road trip? Anyway, Taylor is the first "Idol" alum to get his own Vegas show, and it seems like a good fit for the goofy and gregarious showman. It's also a full-circle career move for him, since his first "Idol" audition was actually in Vegas. Back in 2005, Taylor was stranded in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina, and when his flight was cancelled, he was given a free airline voucher; he used the voucher to fly to Vegas, auditioned there for "Idol," and the rest was history. After his Vegas announcement, Taylor headed backstage Thursday, where he chatted briefly with Reality Rocks about his Sin City plans, how the nice new "Idol" judges compare to Simon Cowell, and his forthcoming country album. Soul Patrollers, enjoy! http://music.yahoo.com/blogs/reality-rocks/taylor-hicks-talks-vegas-baby-vegas-011434320.html The Interview ![]() ![]() ![]()

ONTHEREDCARPET.COM http://www.ontheredcarpet.com/Taylor-Hicks-of-American-Idol-gets-Las-Vegas-concert-series-at-Ballys/8632159 Taylor Hicks of 'American Idol' gets Las Vegas concert series at Bally's by Corinne Heller Taylor Hicks, an Alabama singer dubbed the "Silver Fox," is making "American Idol" history about six years after he beat "Smash" star Katharine McPhee to win the FOX singing contest series. From June 26 to August 21, Hicks is set to perform five gigs a week at the Indigo Lounge in Bally's Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. The 35-year-old blues, R&B and rock singer had announced the news in person on "American Idol" last week but did not specify dates. He is the first show alum to secure a Las Vegas residency. It marks the most prominent concert series of his career. "A residency in Las Vegas is one of those opportunities an entertainer dreams about," Hicks said in a statement. "Vegas is where Sinatra's Rat Pack and America's greatest talents make musical history. To join those ranks is both humbling and thrilling. My goal is to live up to that legacy of live showmanship." Other singers who have secured ongoing Las Vegas gigs in the past include Celine Dion, Elton John, Bette Midler, Shania Twain and Cee Lo Green, a co-mentor on competing singing contest series "The Voice," which airs on NBC. Hicks was 29 when he won the fifth season of the FOX singing contest series in 2006 and is the show's oldest winner. That year, he released a self-titled pop rock album, which has sold more than a million copies in the United States. However, he did not enjoy the same commercial success as previous "American Idol" winners, namely Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. Hicks was dropped by his record label and he released a follow-up record, "The Distance," independently. The album's songs had more of a blues and country sound and did not do as well, financially, as his previous effort. Like many "American Idol" alumni, Hicks became a Broadway star, making his debut in 2008. Between June and September of that year, the singer played Teen Angel in a revival of the hit musical "Grease." The character is known for his solo song, "Beauty School Dropout." Hicks reprised his role for an 18-month North American tour. McPhee released three albums after her run on "American Idol," enjoying moderate success with the first, while the latter two were flops. She found more success in acting - she is currently starring on the NBC show "Smash," playing a newbie Broadway actress. The series debuted earlier this year and has been renewed for a second season. The most successful singer to emerge from season 5 of "American Idol" is rocker Chris Daughtry. His band Daughtry's self-titled 2008 album has sold more than 4 million copies. Advanced ticket sales for Hicks' shows at Bally's Las Vegas are now on sale and can be obtained by phone at (888) 746-7784 or (702) 777-7776. Starting on May 15, you can also purchase tickets in person at the hotel or at www.ballyslasvegas.com. Their prices range from $29.99 to $59.99 and include a meet and greet with Hicks. |

Taylor Hicks says he's excited to headline Las Vegas shows and Huntsville's Panoply Monday, April 23, 2012, 3:26 PM By Paul Wallen, The Huntsville Times Taylor Hicks says he will include songs from a new country soul album he's working on in his Las Vegas performances. HUNTSVILLE, Alabama -- Taylor Hicks, winner of the 2006 "American Idol", is excited about his eight-week engagement headlining at Bally’s Las Vegas beginning on June 26. Hicks will play in The Indigo at Bally’s on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Hicks, who is from Birmingham and lived in Huntsville for a summer growing up, becomes the first “American Idol” winner or finalist to secure a residency in Las Vegas. "It's a great fit for me," Hicks said. "I always do really well in casinos and have done well in Vegas. It's a match made in heaven." Hicks has a history in Las Vegas. After his flight was canceled in New Orleans the night before Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005, he was given a free airline voucher. Hicks used it to travel to Las Vegas, where the “American Idol” auditions were being held. "It's come full circle," Hicks said. "I auditioned in Vegas and now, six years later, I'm headlining there. He expects to perform many of the songs for that album during his engagement at Bally's and begin recording toward the end of that run. Hicks is performing in Huntsville on Sunday night as a headliner at the Panoply Arts Festival, where he was scheduled to perform last year until the April 27 tornadoes forced organizers to cancel the event. ContactMusic.com http://www.contactmusic.com/news/taylor-hicks-lands-residency-at-las-vegas-hotel_1321622 Taylor Hicks - Taylor Hicks Lands Residency At Las Vegas Hotel 24 April 2012 17:17 It was a chance visit to Las Vegas that led Taylor Hicks to audition for American Idol there in 2005. As he stood in the line "with some very interesting people" little did he know that he would go on to win the contest. And he probably didn't think that he would be returning to the city six years later for his own Vegas residency. That's exactly what happened for Hicks though and the former Idol winner has just announced his very own contract with the Caesar Entertainment-owned Bally's Las Vegas Hotel. Hicks will begin his three month residency on June 26th 2012. He'll play every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Indigo and it marks a huge development in his post-American Idol career. "It's a true full-circle moment for me," 35 year-old Taylor told Hollywood Reporter. Tickets for Hick's residency at Bally's go on sale on April 21, 2012. Since winning American Idol, Taylor Hicks has released a number of successful studio albums, including the platinum-certified record The Distance. Despite being dropped by Arista Records in 2008, Hicks did not let this discourage him from pursuing a recording career. His path to stardom was an unusual one. He was only in Vegas for the initial Idol auditions because he had been fleeing New Orleans at the time that Hurricane Katrina ravaged the city. "I had a free voucher to fly anywhere in the country. I went to Las Vegas because I'd never been there and heard it's a fun place to go. I was just hanging out until my brother called at midnight to tell me Idol auditions were the next day." It turned out to be one Vegas gamble that paid off. |
