I called 7 Cedars Casino with a few questions.

1. I asked about the type of lighting in the room where the concert will be held:
*Regular lighting. If there is any type of special lighting, it will most likely be furnished by Taylor.

2. The concert is being held in the 'Bingo Hall' of the venue: Approximately 1,000 seat capacity.
It looks like half the hall is filled so far.

Table seating: They don't like to see people standing; but know there may be a few who will.

3. Pictures: Not sure about that. It may be limited to 'no-flash' pictures.

Just a little over (2) weeks ahead. :bls :cs :bls :cs :bls

Just got back. Exhausted! uploading a few partial vids I took. OUTSTANDING CONCERT. No sleep in 38 hrs. recap 2morrrow and pics.

mouser --I got a copy of the setlist but Taylor changed it up from the sound check and added one he had crossed off and of course tags. The crowd was so enthusiastic it may have contributed to the changes. Taylor and Wynn were in THE ZONE. Ü

7 Mile Breakdown 7 Cedars Resort Sequim WA 9-25-10 feat Wynn Christian

My 4G card was full right at the end. Drats! I missed the harp solo and I was so bummed I almost missed watching the end. Gotta get a 16G card for next time. The connection between Wynn and Taylor was amazing. They feed off each other and the whole band reacts and the crowd went nuts. Which made it even better as the band reacted to us too. I always wondered who those crazy women were screaming on the vids and now I know as I can hear myself. LOL Ü

Great Review from The Other Chad :

Concert Review: Taylor Hicks Live at 7 Cedars Casino, Sequim, Washington, 09/25/2010

Taylor Hicks, backed by a six piece band, played to an enthusiastic crowd September 25th at the 7 Cedars Casino in Sequim, Washington. He commanded the audience's attention for the roughly ninety minute performance, delivering a mixture of original tunes and covers. Soaked in sweat by the end, Hicks earned every bit of applause as he invested his customary passion in each song. He played rhythm guitar on most numbers, breaking out his trademark harmonica at several key points.

Performing nearly half of his most recent album, The Distance clearly dominated the show. Having honed these tunes on the road over the course of many performances, they all sounded even better than their already impressive studio versions. "What's Right Is Right," a hit on the Adult Contemporary chart last year, especially seemed to take on new life with a bravura vocal performance. "Nineteen," preceded by an emotional tribute to the men and women serving in the United States Armed Forces, traded some of its country-and-western flavor for a more traditional R&B sound.

One of the quietest moments of the night was a sterling rendition of the very best track on The Distance: "Maybe You Should," written by Hicks with Mike Reid. The song featured the simplest arrangement of the concert, allowing the audience to focus on the nuances of Hicks' expressive vocal. Dipping back to original songs from his Early Works compilation, "The Deal" and "Hold Onto Your Love" both turned up, with the latter being one of the more jaw-dropping performances. Augmented by some stunning saxophone solos, the song transformed from its familiar Latin groove into a blues stomper.

A hallmark of Hicks' approach is the inspired way he weaves pieces of other songs into the one being performed. The slow-burn groove of "Seven Mile Breakdown," a blues-rock highlight on The Distance, morphed unexpectedly - but seamlessly - into The Beatles' "Get Back." It then took a left-turn into Jackson Browne's "Running On Empty" before returning to where it began. Similarly, Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away," introduced drolly as "a song I did on that show," segued into "The Runaround," from 2006's Taylor Hicks.

Among the covers was Delbert McClinton's "Going Back To Louisiana," prior to which Hicks' cited McClinton as a mentor. Derek & the Dominoes' "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad" sparked instrumental fireworks amongst the band members. The cover tunes were all well chosen, playing to Hicks' strengths as a singer.

Although Hicks' powerhouse vocals are easily enough to sustain an entire concert, his band shines equally bright. Longtime associate Brian Less demonstrated his mastery of the keyboard more than once, gracing several numbers with extended solos. Wynn Christian, playing lead guitar, has a long history of working with Hicks. Christian wrote "Seven Mile Breakdown," originally recording it with his own band Spoonful James. Christian contributed some blistering leads throughout the night, most notably on "I Live On a Battlefield."

Saxophonist Jeff Lopez brought a small arsenal of horns. He switched between tenor, alto, and sopranino saxes as well as flute. The sopranino was a particular treat considering that it's a seldom utilized, and very difficult to play, member of the saxophone family. At one point Lopez played his alto and sopranino simultaneously. Filling out the band was the very skilled rhythm section of Brandon Peeples on bass, Leif Bondarenko on drums, and percussionist Matt Kimbrell.

Immediately following the final tune (a cover of La Roux's current hit "Bulletproof"), Hicks was out at the merchandise table greeting fans, posing for pictures, and signing autographs. This is a regular occurrence, no matter how understandably exhausted he may be after the show. It seemed nearly everyone in attendance queued up, waiting patiently as Hicks bonded with the fans one by one. Making that personal connection with his fans is obviously very vital to him.

Having interviewed him the day before, I really gained insight into the seriousness with which Taylor Hicks approaches his craft. I was fortunate enough to continue this discussion after the show, as Hicks invited my wife and I to spend some time backstage. What becomes clear from speaking with him, especially face to face, is the clarity of his vision of himself as an independent artist. "I've had a plan for my career arc right from the beginning," Hicks explained, "which surprised a lot of people." He's well aware that some are quick to dismiss his success on American Idol as some kind of accident. But instead of worrying about those critiques, he'd rather expand his audience by demonstating his capabilities. Says Hicks, "It's all about the music."

It certainly was all about the music at the 7 Cedars Casino. The audience witnessed a thorough demonstration of said capabilities, with more sure to follow. For additional information about Taylor Hicks and his upcoming appearances, see his official website.

And to mouser ... thank you for posting that very favorable review of Taylor from "The Other Chad." It certainly sounds as though Taylor and his band threw a little of everything into this amazing concert, and hit it out of the park!! So nice to read such a glowing review of Taylor ... not only as the sterling performer he is, but as the remarkable person he is!! He is surely deserving of this great review!! :ld

Recap of 7Cedars concert:
This trip to see Taylor was suppose to be an adventure for Gr8ful♥ and I but it turned out to be not what we expected. Gr8ful♥ heart went to ER at midnight hrs before she was to flight out and meet me at Sea Tac. I did not sleep that night as I had to be at the airport at 4:30 am. As my flt was called for boarding I got a call from her sis and she told me that Gr8 was in ICU with chest pains. I shudder to think of what would have happened if she had been on the plane or in the car with me on that rather lonely rd headed to Sequim. I was in shock as I boarded the plane wondering if I could possibly cancel while I’m already in the line; should I cancel with everything paid for; the car rental with the special rate is in her name; I’d have to travel by myself and go to the concert alone. I was dead tired but my mind was whirling and I couldn’t sleep. I checked and, of course, Hertz would not honor her reservation for the rental without her. I asked if they had a car with GPS and if someone could give me instructions on how to program it. They did and I took off. Thankfully I had used my bros GPS last time I was in DC.
Arriving in Sequim now totally drained from lack of sleep I was extremely gratified that the owners of the Quality Inn were very accommodating and let me check in at 10:30 am. I couldn’t sleep & I remembered that a fan from another site had pm’d me that they would be staying at a different motel so I went there and left a message asking them to call me. Finally at 7 pm I went to sleep and slept 12 hrs. The next day I decided to visit friends that live on Whidbey Island. I took the ferry over and spent a few hrs. On the way back I stopped to scope out the 7cedars. There were security guards at the entrance to the event hall where Taylor was to perform. As I was walking back out to the car I heard Taylor singing. I located the source and hung around a back door. I heard WRIR, 19, ILOAB and Bulletproof. I tried to take a pic of the flashing electronic marquee announcing Taylor’s concert but I couldn’t get my camera to take it so you could actually read it. So I sat on the grass and took pics of my red painted toenails with black musical notes. LOL I left and decided to stop at the motel and see if they had checked in yet I was told they had not. I thought that was strange. On returning to my motel and doing a few things I noticed that the message light was blinking. There were two messages from them and they had been in Sequim since morning. The last message said they were at the Casino. They were already there when I was there earlier. I called and got in touch with the husband and he said they were at the front of the line holding a place for me and the line was quite long. He said I’d better get my red toe nails over there fast. I was not dressed for the concert and had been riding a ferry and hadn’t eaten. I rushed to throw myself together and raced back to the Casino 7 mi away praying I’d make it in time. As I raced through the parking lot I noticed Taylor standing out behind the casino talking to some people. I rushed inside to the front of the long line and of course I had never met them before so did not know who to look for. I grabbed my cell and redialed their number and when a phone started ringing I stepped over and introduced myself and showed them my red toes with the black musical notes and my cell calling their cell. They let me in line and 2 min later the gates were opened and we got front row seats! Praise God for the Soul Patrol! They were very nice people (dnjmorton; husband and wife) and they introduced me to 3 other SPers: Bonnie, and Pam & Mike that had arrived to see the show with them.
The show started promptly at 8 pm after Taylor, behind a screened off area, was photographed with various employees. It was a high energy show from the start. By Taylor combining his talents with the talents of "his guys" a synergy is formed which is unbelievable and beautiful to observe. The sum of all their combined musical expertise feeds from one to the other and they become an unstoppable musical phenomena. It’s hard to believe that it can get any better but with each song it does build and build until the encore of Bulletproof at which time you jump from your seat and join into the dancing wondering how the time has flown so quickly. Surely it can’t be over you just sat down. Taylor was totally at ease, relaxed and quick witted. He, as usual, encourages each band member to play a solo and each one was outstanding. Jeff is always amazing on his horns which he told me he doesn’t usually let anyone touch but pretended I was playing one in a pic that was taken of us. Jeff is a great guy and very personable. His solos are fantastic and he was highlighted in a few songs. Brian was also highlighted and is also magnificent on the keyboard. I hadn’t seen Matt, Brandon or Leif in concert before. Matt is an excellent percussionist. I believe he is as good as Jay Steele who I saw at the Roxy. Leif did a great solo and Brandon appeared to be in awe of all the talent and Taylor’s performance. I saw him grinning and having a good time. They all seemed to be really enjoying themselves and at times lost in their own interpretation of each song. The audience appeared to be 500-600 people and was exuberant throughout the entire show and showed it with much interaction; this encouraged the band to let loose. I noticed Taylor giving the others lifted eyebrows at our reactions. Maybe You Should was delivered perfectly in a heart gripping performance. I hope someone videoed it and you all get to see it. Battlefield was also delivered at a slower tempo and beautiful. WRIR was changed completely and very dynamic. The performances by Wynn were undeniably some of the high points in the concert. His blues guitar solo in HOTYL was pure pleasure to watch. Sensuous is the only way to try and describe it. Watch my video full screen at http://youtu.be/qrBsKMblWi8 to see what I mean. He did a few other solos but that one was my fave. The other concerts I’ve attended were great but more rock. This one with ‘Tay’s Guys’ back together was more blues influenced and it seemed that Taylor has found his groove.
Taylor ended the evening signing a long line of autographs as it curved around two sides of the venue. I had been able to get Gr8’s unused ticket and when I told him what had happened he seemed to already know. I had sent him a tweet earlier so I think he does read our tweets. He graciously signed it: To Evelyn. I had a few gifts I was to deliver and in all of the confusion I forgot. I asked Clay if he’d give them to Tay and he said sure. I also told Clay that I had brought a pic of Taylor and I, taken at the Roxy, but had forgotten to have it signed and would also like to get a better pic as that one has us both looking in opposite directions. Clay said he’ll do it. I had a couple of pics taken with Jeff and one with Wynn and one with Brian These pics was taken by someone else so I’m waiting to get them. I talked with Matt and encouraged him to get Taylor to come to the NW more often. Jeff told me that they would not be playing anywhere else that night as they had to leave the next morning very early to get to their plane. One of the guys told me that there is going to be another benefit concert in Minneapolis MN soon but it hasn’t been announced yet. When I was at the end of the line two attractive younger gals in front of me told me to go ahead of them. I shook my head and said “No”. One of them said “tough gal”. At least she didn’t say old gal. LOL I told them I had things to deliver. They wanted to be last in line to talk with Taylor. I noticed them later trying to go through the curtains where he was but the security guards did their jobs. dnjmorton’s hubby found an extra set list and gave it to me. He was a very nice man. He takes all of the pics while she gets to watch the show and he floats around picking up various tidbits of info; fun couple.
Addendum: I just talked to Eve and she was once again ambulanced to a another hospital in the tri cities where she was given a heart cath and GOOD NEWS….IT WAS NOT HER HEART BUT THEY THINK IT’S TORN MUSCLES UNDER HER RIGHT BREAST. Praise God!

I have never heard of identifying oneself by red toe nails, but why not. I will not embarrass you by asking to see a pic, but I am sure your twinkling toes were lovely.

A great recap.......a wild trip...... but obviously worthwhile.

Tell Ev that her heart was probably beating so fast in anticipation of seeing Taylor that she tore that muscle......... thank goodness it was not a heart attack.............. Am thinking gr8fulheart is resting comfortably.

Thanks for your vids, your recap and now I am waiting for pictures.

;wh Wow, Medo, I am practically speechless!! Your recap was positively riveting ~ you are so eloquent and surely have a way with words! I was mesmerized by every word, as you brought us with you through your entire trip and then brought us along to the concert as well!! Despite your "wild ride," you managed to capture so vividly every aspect of what was surely a very memorable weekend for you! Thanks for one of the best recaps ever!! :thumbsup

And thanks also for that incredibly amazing video of Wynn's HOTYL blues guitar solo ~ there just aren't the right words to describe that performance ~ I believe you are right when you say that "sensuous" is only way to describe it! I was blown away by that vid, and know that I will be heading back to watch it again as soon as I finish this post!! It is AWESOME! :guitar

As for your pics .... they are fantastic! The quality of your photos is amazing ~ I love them all! What a great pic that is with you and Jeff ... so cute! And your pics of Taylor ~ well, that man just cannot take a bad picture! They are all wonderful ~ thanks for sharing them with us!

And another thank you for the latest update about Gr8ful ~ Praise God that it was not her heart! That is very good news, but it sounds as though she is in some pain from the torn muscles. Hopefully, she will be given medication to make her more comfortable. May God Bless Her with a speedy recovery! :ht

Thanks again, Medo ~ I have really enjoyed your recap, pics, vids and all the "treasures" you took the time to capture and share with us! Kudos to you!! :cp
