Just for fun I thought we could discuss our personal favorite 2009 Shadow Tour performances if we saw one or saw a good video-- Obviously mine is from WorkPlay-the 11 minute version of SMB-its my fave because it was the first time using my new JVC Everio camera, I had just found "zoom"-moved to a better location, filmed Taylor all night-and when I got home and uploaded everything to my computer and saw this it blew ME away-and I TOOK it!! Fortunately the techie peeps here helped me get it posted-and I thank them for that-- Here's the link-once again for your enjoyment- 11 minutes of UNCUT LIVE TAYLOR doing SMB at WorkPlay- Now your turn-- http://vimeo.com/6882849 |

What can I say but: "you took the words right out of my mouth, OBG!" Seven Mile Breakdown ~ WorkPlay ~ Friday night ~ September 25, 2009! I wish with everything I have, that I could have been there in the crowd; movin n groovin. But~videos will have to do & there are some really good ones for all to enjoy.Of course, there have been Many special moments with other performances; some with the same energy as SMB; some tenderly crying from within the heart. I think of 'Maybe You Should'. Thanx to all who captured the WorkPlay weekend. So many have been blessed by your generosity in sharing your captures. Thanx OBG, for the link Edited by Gr8fulheart, Jun 23 2010, 08:10 PM.

Only got to go to two last year, and both were killers in very different ways. Ram's Head stuck a knife in my heart, straight in. I was fine until Taylor started to sing, "Lodi" and for once, I was glad I was not right under the stage. The people in the audience who laughed when he tagged that song ... they just twisted the knife deeper into my heart. I could not believe that they laughed. That was the most emotional show of Taylor's I've ever seen, emotional for me, I mean. WorkPlay was another story. Joyous all the way. Nothing makes me happier than seeing Taylor happy. Got to reconnect with some great friends again in person. Met some other great people. Got to see Ona perform (I lost my mind). Got to see Billy Earle make that guitar weep (I lost my mind). Got to see Mitch Jones again and was so glad to see him looking so happy and sounding so great with Buffalo Black. My only regret that trip was that my friends and I did not get to see Erin Mitchell and Sam perform again as we'd so wanted; they were on the same time that Taylor was in a different venue, of course. Best-est moment of WorkPlay: New Found Freedom. The very, very end, where Taylor spread his arms and in lieu of singing the lyric, "And fly", he wiggled his fingers, as if he were going to take off. Almost as if the words were too flimsy to convey the emotion, so he just mimed it. My heart took off with him. Gr8tful, hang on. Taylor Hicks is going to be keeping us happy for the rest of his life with his beautiful music and many appearances. I hope we can meet up one day in person. You will never be the same.

Gr8fulheart never has been 'the same'! And YES, Kat ~ How could anyone forget 'New Found Freedom'. Shame on Me for letting that slide-by. Definately, one of my favorites too. He just has too many stellar performances to choose from. I CAN handle that!

The ones attended are always the most special because live Taylor beats video Taylor every time. So every single song from the few Shadow tours I was able to attend stand out : location location location. "Ya had to be there " , takes on a new meaning when dealing with the manic , whirling dervish that is Taylor Hicks. Right now , I can't get " Back To Louisiana" out of my head, but I have said that about so many songs I have heard and seen on video. When you are smacked in the eardrums by a Hicks' song, you don't forget it. |

Without question, my favorite two are: "Maybe You Should," done for the first time at Magic Bag. "Border Song," in Madison. Simply unbelievable! |

Wow! This is a great idea.... Can I take Kat's bestest moment! No, I'll come back and think about WorkPlay. I only saw WorkPlay and Roxy's. Roxy's was a difference experience for me...high overlooking LA and standing at the stage where I could have tied his New Balances. I agree with Cath, you had to be there. This is fun to relive these times. I'm sitting here smiling as I remember... |

Great memories of all the performances mentioned so far, either live or in person! Thanks OBG, this is fun, and thanks also for the link to the video - really memorable! For me, being there was the best, of course - the only Shadow Tour I saw live was Rams Head, and it was a truly a wonderful performance! |
