Here are some of the things that we're likely to see tonight:

• The finale has a history of going over its scheduled time of 8-10 p.m. Eastern, so if you're recording it, manually set the record time to end at 10:30 instead of 10, just in case.
• There will be another Lee/Crystal duet. Even though "Falling Slowly" was well received a few weeks ago, I personally hope they sing something new and different.
• There will definitely be at least one tribute to judge Simon Cowell, who will appear on the show for the final time tonight. The rumor is that Paula Abdul will be involved, and possibly past contestants such as Taylor Hicks.• Lee and Crystal could likely be prostituted in some kind of promo for a new Fox summer movie.
• You will see some solo performances and a group performance involving other members of this season's Top 12. Yes, even Tim Urban.
• Lee and Crystal will each have a performance with a superstar performer, likely someone with a similar style. Last year, Adam Lambert had a memorable turn with KISS.

IT IS INTERESTING TO NOTE THAT ONLY TAYLOR'S NAME WAS MENTIONED AS A PAST CONTESTANT WHO WOULD BE THERE.

ALSO NOTEWORTHY : IT SOUNDS LIKE THE TRIBUTE TO SIMON WILL OCCUR IN THE LAST HOUR OF THE SHOW RATHER THAN THE FIRST . I DOUBT THAT TAYLOR AND COMPANY WILL HAVE MORE THAN 30 MINUTES OF AIR TIME, BUT THAT IS JUST SPECULATION ON MY PART.

'Idol' duets, former finalists, veteran rockers all part of Season 9 finale
May 26, 2010 | 1:26 pm

"Idol" producers, ex-contestants and the show's host Ryan Seacrest are all hinting at "big surprises" for Wednesday night's Season 9 finale. Thanks to various tweets and Facebook messages, we already know that Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson and Season 3's Fantasia will perform a duet on the song "Together We Are One," a dedication to Simon Cowell. Other winner pairings could also be in store, what with Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks and Kris Allen all in town.

Among the veteran acts reportedly lined up to perform: Hall & Oates, Chicago, Joe Cocker and Janet Jackson, who's expected to sing a Simon send-off of her own. Naturally, the much beloved judge will be a big focus of the finale -- and a teary one at that -- with all sorts of friends expected to turn out in person or via video. Among them: former judge Paula Abdul. Will she reclaim her seat at the judges' table for one night only? Maybe she can critique her replacement, Ellen DeGeneres?

Keep an eye out for all sorts of ex-contestants, including rockers such as Carly Smithson, Constantine Maroulis and Michael Johns and game-changing runners-up such as Blake Lewis and Bo Bice.

As for favorite Adam Lambert? Apparently, he's sitting this one out, but a surprise appearance wouldn't shock this "Idol" blogger. (I know nothing, pure speculation -- or wishful thinking -- because someone needs to blow the roof off the place.)

All will be revealed soon enough, including this year's winner! Did you vote last night? Who will it be: Crystal or Lee?

FOR ME , TAYLOR WILL "BLOW THE ROOF OFF THE PLACE"..... THE HECK WITH ADAM LAMBERT.

HOW ABOUT A GAME OF "SIMON SAYS" ........THAT WOULD BE A HOOT. !!!

The prematurely gray winner of "Idol" on Season 5 (watch his audition) was named People's "Most Eligible Bachelor," although later there were setbacks. He has gained fame in this role on Broadway (watch some clips). Do you remember his fans' nickname? This TV celeb jokes that Hicks is his son.

Crystal Hunt (born Crystal Clarese Hunt on February 5, 1985) is an American actress. She is best known for playing Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light from 2003-2006. She played the role of Stacy Morasco on One Life to Live from February 2009 until March 2010.
Hunt owns a high end pet boutique in her hometown of Clearwater, My Pets Dream Boutique.
Am not sure how he met her or if she is an arranged date, but her Pet Boutique is about 25 minutes from my house...... now if Taylor came to visit the shop, I would go and dog goodies for my Granddog, Abbie.

He hugged Mykala Gordon and bounced around alot , but no interview. He did interview with several "microphones" but these were probably TV channels??????????

OMG!! I nearly had a coronary when I saw the picture of Taylor with Michael McDonald. Michael, his wife, son & son's friend had a concert in Oregon on February 21, 2008. I had planned to attend, but weather conditions prevented it. My sister, who lived in the area, brought a large poster home for me. They all had penned a greeting & signed it. It hangs on the wall in my office; right across the room from all my Taylor stuff.
One of the main reasons I wanted to attend; besides really liking Michael, was to approach him to ask if he & Taylor had ever connected.
AWH~this is true bliss seeing them together in this picture! :bls :ld

And Mouser ~ I too thought if the roof was gonna be raised, our guy would be the one to do it. Now watch the television audience number soar! :cs :cs :cs

Alice Cooper was the first guest singer who joined the top 12 in a song.

Kris Allen sang his new single.

The Bee Gees join one of the contestants

The beginning of a tribute to Simon with little blurbs of his "nasty " comments and a little "roasting and toasting" of Simon.

Michael McDonald sings "Takin' It To The Streets" ......... NOW HE SOUNDS GREAT , JUST LIKE TAYLOR... Michael Lynch not as good as Taylor's rendition.....

A song set to some of Simon's greatest insults : A cute idea gone bad?????

The female contestants sing a song or two and than are joined by Christina Aguilera

Lee Sings, Casey sings , the rest of the boys sing "Man Eater" .......yawn. Hall and Oates join the group with You Make My Dreams come True....... this one I like.

Crystal sings : Joined by Alanis Morissette

Carrie Underwood sings ,wearing quite an outfit and sounding very rock country.

PIMPING FORD CARS

Casey James sings and is joined by : Bret Michaels

Medley of hits from Chicago

More Simon roasting

"Pants on the Ground" guy singin' his song. This is one I just don't understand

Paula Abdul speaks about Simon , then she shows up on the stage...........she looks great.

All the Idol winners come out to sing : YES TAYLOR IS THERE ........ then all the past finalist join them on stage dressed in white

Simon comes onto the stage and seems genuinely moved by seeing all these people clapping for him . Taylor is center stage , which is nice for us.

The contestants sing again: joined by Janet Jackson she sings and dances

Joe Cocker sings with Crystal and Lee , " I Keep Trying with a Little Help from my Friends"

THE WINER IS LEE

I'm waiting in the West to see it, but still reading this, so I will know what to expect. Can't wait to know what Taylor does. I rushed home from work and saw the glimpse of him on the Red Carpet.

We never get anything "live" in the West...even when it happens IN the West!

:)

This has been a great couple of days for Taylor so far. All the media is exciting. I'm sure he is having a great time.

The Idol winners' song to Simon is already on YouTube-notice on the last note Taylor points to Simon-no matter what the situation he stays focused-

and the line of the song Taylor sang fit him so well:
"With a lifetime's preparation there's no time to be afraid"

Was it just me, or did anyone else hear Taylor over everyone else? His voice is so delightfully distinctive.

I was a bit disappointed that Taylor didn't have a bigger part in this. I thought for sure he would do a bit with either Michael or Joe. Oh well~it was worth watching just to see Taylor. :ld

Was glad to see Lee take the win. I remember in an interview where Taylor made a comment about a 'dark horse' taking the win. Have we got a smart guy in Taylor, or what!!!

Good Night :wv

I do see the bright side of this appearance by Taylor. He got a lot of pre Idol press by being interviewed by many TV and radio shows. He showed he is a team player and loyal to the show that gave him his opportunity regardless of the relationship he might have with them. Millions of people saw him on TV and ,as Gr8fulheart said, his voice was BY FAR, the most distinctive of any of the Idols. He got to be in the company of Michael McDonald and Joe Cocker and I am sure he made the most of the opportunity . He represented us , his fans, well, being a gentleman and gracious to those he met. He presented himself well , as a respectful individual , grateful for everything that has happened to him.

On the dark side : I was less than satisfied by the entire evening. I was disappointed that we did not get to see Taylor demonstrate his talent for the throng that was there . It was 2 hours of my life : not well spent.
