Hmmmmmm....well, we hadn't heard that Taylor may ride in the Pace Car...although the disclaimer indicates some doubt about that. We'll have to wait and see. It's been a while since we've heard him sing the Anthem...I'm looking forward to it. |

He is in Grease that day and night in Toronto, so I don't know how he is going to maneaver himself through the friendly skies. No announcement has as yet been made to indicate that he will not be appearing on the 11th of April. Edited by mouser, Apr 2 2010, 06:55 PM.

I hope Taylor will be at the Indy car race, since that's the only reason I'm planning on going. If you look at the Grease dates on Taylor's Ning site, April 11 is not listed so I would think that would mean he won't be performing in Grease that day. |

This is being televised on our TV carrier, so if they show the anthem I will be able to capture it in good quality, as well as anything else they show of Taylor. |

Bobbing in when I can. I've had the 11th marked on my calendar for a few weeks, so I'm looking forward to hearing/seeing Taylor again. Will also be looking forward to any pictures that might show up. Does Taylor look the same?

That will be great Gypsee: The Retirement Systems of Alabama gave hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of complementary advertising at the Raycom television stations it owns across the country. The race will be televised in 184 countries televised and on the Versus channel in the U.S Since the series inception, IndyCar Series events have been broadcast on several networks, including ABC, CBS, ESPN, Fox, FSN, ESPN2, ESPN Classic, and TNN.[6] However, beginning in the 2009 season, Versus began televising the races which will air for the next 10 years, televising at least 13 races per season. ABC continued to broadcast the Indianapolis 500 until 2012, as well as four additional races. Versus began airing one hour pre-race shows the day before the race. April 11 Indy Grand Prix of Alabama Presented by Legacy Credit Union Barber Motorsports Park Birmingham, AL 3:00 PM Versus IF YOU GET DIRECT TV, IT SHOULD BE ON CHANNEL 603 ----------------------------------- Barber Motorsports Park IndyCar Race Track Profile Posted by Bruce Martin on 2/2/2010 at 12:00AM Pick A Side~fireup-a-tag~Fire It UpFire It UpWho: Barber Motorsports Park What: 2.38-Mile Permanent Road Course Where: Leeds, Alabama When: Sunday, April 11, 2010 Where to stay: This magnificent facility is located in the hometown of former NBA great Charles Barkley. But Leeds is a western suburb of Alabama's largest city, Birmingham, which offers a wealth of outstanding hotels fitting any price range. In fact, I've been staying in Birmingham for the past 10 years when I've been assigned to cover the two NASCAR races a year at Talladega Superspeedway rather than paying the jacked-up rates near Talladega in Anniston and Oxford. There are plenty of hotels near Leeds but Inverness Parkway is tough to beat with the Marriott Hotel, Courtyard by Marriott, Fairfield Inn and Residence Inn all located off the parkway. But a true road racing fan brings an RV or a camper to natural terrain road courses in order to get the full effect and appreciation of watching a race, road course style. What to do while there? Central Alabama is quite picturesque and Birmingham has plenty of culture. But the "Official Food of the South" is barbecue and that means a trip down I-59 to Tuscaloosa and a trip to the original Dreamland Barbecue. Tuscaloosa is the home of the University of Alabama but Dreamland is not a campus restaurant. It's located off Jug Factory Road and it's basically a "shack." But it doesn't take a newcomer long to figure out why this place truly is a "Dreamland" as pit masters arrive early in the morning to start cooking the slab of ribs on the pit. The menu is simple - ribs, Wonder Bread, barbecue sauce and beer or soft drinks were the only thing on the menu until recently when a few side items were ordered. But skipped the soft drinks and order the "Sweet Tea" because it's the true Southern recipe. And save enough room for the ‘Nana Puddin' - something that folks outside of the South would call Banana Pudding. If a trip to Tuscaloosa is too far, there is Jim and Nick's Barbecue, Blue Moon Barbecue on Inverness Parkway which claims to have the "Best Butts in Town" and Golden Rule Barbecue - a chain with many locations in the area. "Celebrating the Legends ~ Tom, Charles & Randy" I looked at the three legends that Taylor met or will meet tomorrow--Tom Hambridge whom he met in a Toronto diner, Charles Barkley (I was there for his heyday with the Phoenix Suns and recalled what he said about role models. He was never boring!), who will be Grand Marshall tomorrow, and Randy Owens who will sing "My Home's in Alabama." The best part: Taylor sings, "My Home's in Alabama" from the Alabama Theatre, 2007 http://thetaylorhickscommunity.blogspot.com/2010/04/taylor-hickscelebrating-legends-tom.html Edited by san, Apr 10 2010, 11:55 PM.

I love hearing Taylor sing this song! I have my DVR set to record the race from the start, so if they show him singing the anthem, I will definitely get it. Hopefully they show it all and maybe some other shots of him at the race. |
