Music Soothes The Soul of The Beast

It is daybreak. You awaken to a sense of restlessness...an unfulfilled sleep from the previous night...anxiety hangs its dark cloud over you. The Beast threatens to arise, to spew its negativity on your brand new day. What was it that kept you from sleep? What is it lurking around in your subconscious that cannot allow the Beauty that is your unique Life to surround you?

Sometimes we cannot find the core of the cloud. Sometimes when we do find it, we are fearful of probing it, lest the cloud release a Beast we cannot stop and it devours us. When my cloud threatens to spill onto my world, I turn to the muse of music to soothe The Beast....

Here are some of my musical umbrellas against the clouds of doubt and anxiety...

"From A Distance"...Bette Midler
"Pachelbel's Canon"
"Because You Love Me"...Celine Dion
"Dancing In The Street"....Martha and the Vandellas
"The Distance"....Taylor Hicks"Chiquita".... by Gipsy Kings
"Zorba's Dance"...Mikis Theodorakis
"Just A Touch of Love"....C&C Music Factory, from the movie "Sister Act."
"The Rose"....Bette Midler

What are some of yours?

I love both Distance songs...

It was many years ago, so my memory is fuzzy, but "From a Distance" was written by Burt Bacharach and first performed in Congress where a group of young people were trying to save and clean up a river...it was an environmental song. Burt Bacharach was there and performed the song with the kids. I fell in love with it then and still think it is one of the greatest songs ever. Ms. Midler does it justice. One of my absolute favorites.

Taylor's "The Distance" has an equally important message of hope that the differences and distances that separate us will "fade away."

Thanks, Mouser. This has a great message as does the music.
