I am just wondering if Kelly Clarkson's new cd dropping on the same day as Taylor's will have any impact on his sales? Her cd is being released by 19 studios and is definitely very pop. I don't care for this style of music but lots of the youngins do. Lately she has gone to more of a loud rock/pop style with rather pointed lyrics on being jilted. Probably won't have much of an affect as her fans are not the same fans that Taylor has. What do you think? Any thoughts? Ü |

The only connection those two have is the fact they were Idol winners. If people are really into the music and not the show ( American Idol ) than they will chose the genre(s) they enjoy more. If both Kelly and Taylor satisfy their musical tastes than people can buy both . I wouldn't buy a hard rock CD regardless of who was recording it ( well , if it were my kid, maybe ) . Kelly is the one who changed her release date to the 10th of March making it fall on the same day as Taylor's drop. I would be more curious in finding out why she did that???? |

Coming from someone who doesn't own a Clarkson cd (or Underwood, or Ruben, or Fantasia, or Sparks, or even Daughtry - yeah, I know - I'm the only one left on earth who didn't buy his debut) - I really don't know who her fans are. Probably the younger pop crowd. I dread the inevitable comparisons in sales. Maybe 19 is still trying to prove something - moving up the date to match Taylor's. Irks me! BTW 20-30 years ago, nobody would have named an album what she called this new one. Crass isn't it. I wish I could say it might help Taylor's sales but with the economy down - people may just buy one. And she has more "hits' under her belt. However, it may be that WRIR will be moving up the charts by that time. (smile) He so deserves a big hit. |

I wonder what other artists are releasing on Kelly's original March 17 issue date? My uneducated guess is that the label wants Kelly's album to debut in the #1 spot, and that she has the best chance to do that with a March 10 release. |

The ONLY CD I'll buy is Taylor's -but I'm curious-WHO prompted Kelly to change her release date? She is with 19 records-right? This smells fishy to me!! |

I'm confused, her website and amazon both list her release date as 3/17. I was just there and checked. Isn't Taylor's the 10th? |

I don't know about you guys but even with Kelly having a great set of lungs, she has become so much like the other 'plasicized' pop stars. Her image ~ for me at least ~ has become boring & tacky. Only time will tell tho. As for musical attraction, Taylor wins 'hands down'. There will be another Taylor cd gracing my office soon!

I have not bought any music of these artists. I would have loved to see Fantasia in "Color Purple" and I like some of Ruben's gospel songs....but I had rather buy more than one copy of any of Taylor's albums and give them as gifts to people. I don't know what to say about release dates...other than I am gonna just keep praying for Taylor and all aspects of his career. |

Wow! There's two of us! hahaha Let me say that I have nothing against Mr. Daughtry, I'm sure a nice person and family man (I learned that on AI) - this "new" rock music just not my bag. I heard "Home" on the radio one time and didn't even know until the announcer told who the song was by when it finished. Voice just not distinguishable in my book - i.e. GooGoo Dolls, Matchbox20, Creed......all sound the same to me. But that's just me. One thing about Taylor, with that voice of his - you know it's him. He doesn't sound like anybody else. I love that! When I hear Ray, I know it's Ray, when I hear Otis, I know it's Otis, Elvis, Roy Orbison......well, on and on you get the picture. Taylor's voice is like that. Edited by powderpuff, Jan 26 2009, 05:15 AM.

Tayfan84: Keep us posted on what you find about Kelly 's release date. I know there was an announcement that she was changing her date to the 10th of March, but stranger things have happened. Let us know what you see and hear as the drop date gets closer. Thanks |

Well Girls ~ Move on over cuz I'm #3! There are a lot of good artists out there But nothing really to set them aside from what is already there. The word 'Distinguishable' is Perfect in description for Taylor. We musn't forget 'Stage Presence' also. Admitable ~ he sets any stage performance on fire ~ 'Naturally!'My $$$ will be heading to 'Taylorville'!

Here's No. 4! I don't have any of those artists. You are right, they all sound the same to me. Taylor definitely has a distinguishable voice and his music is also not the run of the mill pop sound! I don't like the new pop singers of today. Thank goodness we found Taylor! hehe!! |

If you look on her new Official site, it has March 10 http://www.kellyofficial.com/ I don't think her release will have any effect on Taylor's sales one way or the other really. I'll be buying both, I'm a Kelly fan also. ![]() I hope Taylor does well with this new album, I'm just happy for him he got to do it his way.

Yes, that is where I checked the announcement I had seen about the date being moved up. Make me #5 as I also don't have any of their cds. BUT I have eclectic tastes and the last 2 cds I purchased were: Gabe Garcia's (runner up on Nashville Star) indie album and Amanda Overmyer's new album (AI contestant). She reminds me of Janis and Gabe is similiar to Geo Strait. Ü |
