Staff Member Positions

Posted by Jonathan (The Jonathan) at Apr 7 2009, 06:11 PM. 7 comments

Hi people!

This thread is gonna be stating and describing the Staff Member Positions in Community 99. There are 4 Staff Member Positions but only 3 of these positions are open for anyone to fill.

  • The Jonathan
  • Community Manager
  • Global Moderator
  • Moderator

The Jonathan
Okay, as you can see that this position is ONLY for me xD. Basically I'm the ROOT Admin of this Forum (and website if I plan to expand). ROOT Admin just means that I'm the #1 member of this forum and I have complete authority over this forum.

Not to worry though. I promise to work in a team, when I find people to pick up the other positions. For now, I assume the role similar to a dictator. I hate saying that but it's true. Don't worry, I'm open to all kinds of criticisms.

Community Manager (3 Spots)
The Community Managers will be also be Admins of this forum. They'll help me run this place and there will be loads of discussions about what to add to the forums, what to change, and these people get to pick the Global Moderators.

Global Moderators (Number of spots depends on forum activity)
Global Moderators are like discipline teachers in this board. They're the ones of make sure that you, members, follow the rules. They're allowed to warn members (with specific guidelines).

Moderator (Number of spots depends on how many forums are there in this community board)
Unlike Global Moderators, Moderators have a specific forum to "govern". So there will be a Music forum Moderator, a Debate forum Moderator, and so on. They're allowed to warn members too (with specific guidelines).

And oh! Community 99 will be practicing democracy as YOU, the members, get to choose your forum Moderator. So there will be submission of nominations and polls for voting.

If you have any questions about these positions, please post them here. I'll be more than happy to answer them.

No positions are open YET!

To-Do List

Just for everyone's information, this is my To-Do List for this young community board:

  • Changing links of buttons for the skin uploaded
  • Create a catchy yet simple banner for this community board
  • Write a lengthy and elaborate Rules for this community board
  • Get at least a Community Manager and a Global Moderator

If you want something else, please suggest at the Helpdesk forum =)

Posting Rules

Posted by Jonathan (The Jonathan) at Apr 5 2009, 06:33 AM. 0 comments

When there's a community board, there's always Posting Rules!

Since I don't have a sufficient amount of time to actually sit and write a comprehensive Rules and TOS and Regulations and whatever you wanna call it, I'll post some BASIC Posting Rules here.

So Ladies and Gentlemen, READ, UNDERSTAND, and ABIDE to these rules.

  • No Spamming - It's nice that you're posting on the forums but please, no flooding a topic or forum with same topics and comments. This also include mass website promotion. Only promote your website in the forum provided or your signature!
  • No double posting - Very self-explanatory rule. No double, triple, multiple CONSECUTIVE postings in a thread. Use the frigging EDIT button!
  • Bump Topics - Okay, the one time that you can double post in a topic is to BUMP a topic so that discussion of that topic doesn't die completely. BUT, you can only do this after 24 HOURS of no reply to the topic. Even if it's 23 hours and 59 minutes after the last person who commented on that topic, WAIT for one more minute before "bumping" the topic.
  • Images, Links, and Signatures - Your photos, avatars, signatures, images posted, and links shared on this community board, MUST be clean! Clean as in, NO PORNOGRAPHY, NO VIOLENCE, NO RACIST PROPAGANDA! I know I didn't include vulgar languages but, please be considerate =). I'm fine with vulgar language being used here but if you start pissing other people off, I'll warn =).
  • Backseat Moderating - I like vigilantes. They help their neighborhood stay safe and peaceful. But when a person starts acting like the authorities, I'm sure other people wouldn't like. So, NO Backseat Moderation, means, no telling others NOT to do this or trying to correct someone when a rule is broken. If you come across anything sketchy or suspicious or you KNOW that a rule is being broken, please use the REPORT button. That will be so much helpful than saying "No double posting" or "No Spamming in FORUMS!".
  • Try not to go off topic in a thread. No one likes it but it happens naturally sometimes. So, just try to stay on topic.

Those are the basic Posting Rules. Any other rules on other actions aren't on this topic will be decided by me whether it's alright or not for now till I write a lengthy and elaborate (plus consequences xD) rules and guidelines.

I know, I sound like a dictator but we need order in a community. I'm open to suggestions, comments and complains! Don't PM them to me, but post them in the Helpdesk forum =).

PS: I'll be posting a topic on hiring Global Moderators and Moderators soon if activity continues to grow. The Community Manager posts will be personally chosen by me, for now.

New Board Theme

Posted by Jonathan (The Jonathan) at Apr 5 2009, 06:14 AM. 0 comments

Hey peeps!

How are all of you digging the forum? I personally love it, that's why I chose it xD Haha! The images aren't all uploaded yet so, give me like 2-3 days and you'll see matching buttons and badges on this skin.

Just for your information, one of the awesome features of this forum software is the Theme Choosing selector located at the bottom left of main content of this board. This allows you to select the theme that you prefer from OUR theme database. Now, there are only two themes on our database. If you think that's boring, please visit ZB Theme Zone or some other resource forum (I'll post some links to awesome resource forums). Just browse through their database and let me know which theme you wanna use on Community 99 (please submit suggestion to the Helpdesk forum, there will be a guideline posted up real soon with links to a few resource forums).

Good day,
Jonathan

Help in Promoting this Forum =)

Before I really go to sleep, I would just like to ask all of you for a favour.

Can you guys promote this forum? xD

Post it on your blogs, send IMs on your Windows Live Messenger or Yahoo! IM Service. Do anything *legal* that would work =).

Please and thank you!

Unorganized?

Posted by Jonathan (The Jonathan) at Apr 4 2009, 10:14 PM. 0 comments

Feel that this board isn't organize? I know, it's a new software that I'm using and I'm trying to get a hang managing it =). Give me time and I'll eventually organize everything!

PS: I'll start "hiring" Staff Members soon, so please be attentive to announcements on this forum if you're interested =).

Avatars

Posted by Jonathan (The Jonathan) at Apr 4 2009, 10:01 PM. 2 comments

The feature of having an avatar on your profile is kinda one of the most used feature of any community forums. Avatars let people know about your interests, your mood, and sometimes your personality. Knowing how important this feature is to ALL of you here, I enabled this feature.

BUT (yes, there's always BUTs on this forum >.<), I disabled uploading avatars on this board as the space is limited for the forum account. So, please use free image hosts out there such as Photobucket and Imageshack. They're super reliable and provide a reasonable amount of bandwidth =).

Sorry for the inconvenience. There are some awesome features on this forum software that might take up additional space so, I prefer allocating super duper amount of disk space for those features. One of them is your own personal BLOG on this forum (Preferences>>Edit Profile>>My Blog) =).

PS: Avatars max size is 100px X 100px

Community 99

Posted by Jonathan (The Jonathan) at Apr 4 2009, 09:44 PM. 2 comments

Hey you!

Thanks for visiting this community board and taking some of your time to actually read this announcement. I would just like to welcome you, whether or not you're a registered member.

Why the name, Community 99? I will post about it in a different topic when I have the time =).

This is my first time using Zetaboards so please help me by reporting bugs, suggesting what you would like to see on this board, and most importantly, POSTING AND STAYING ACTIVE!

As you can see, that there's no special banner, or a "nice" skin on this forum YET. This is because it's 3:42AM here and I'm planning to go to bed soon (hopefully xD). I opened this forum for registration so that I can get incoming hits and registration and not to forget, the excited-ness of running a forum once again!

Hope to see a healthy and friendly community in this board =)

Jonathan
