Well flipping something is just an illusion really. If you manage to shade the element and then decrease it's width or height towards the middle or center, and then increase it again, then you can get a pretty good flip effect. No doubt it will require a lot of CSS, but you can do it.

As for rotating an element, there are different ways for IE and Firefox. Although I never actually tested them fully, but they work on the very basics of elements. I won't go into details in them though, but those effects are somewhat built-in. =P It really comes down to whether you know them or not. And it seems odd to me that you're requesting me to explain how you're going to do this when I'm the one requesting it.

And remember, you asked for it. I told you it's a pain in the ass. Fundamentally, they aren't too hard. The only reason HolySavior and you aren't getting it is because you've never used them before or you aren't familiar with them.

You mean the flip on that page? :ermm:

https://developer.mozilla.org/web-tech/2008/09/12/css-transforms/
And that's a rotate.

They're so alpha that there would be no point even testing it. Not to mention there would be even more CSS than javascript, like you mentioned. I don't think anyone would be interested in having a rotate effect on their page. It would be sorta disconcerting to see things spinning around.

I have in fact used rotate before. I recreated a jQuery plugin that allows you to rotate elements with your fingers on the iphone to practice iphone web app development. I wasn't getting it because it doesn't make sense to give a tutorial on. :P

No, the flips on that page sucks! It doesn't even flip the way I mentioned it to. :P

And the rotate is fine if you use that one, but not the method I had in mind. The reason I suggested it is not so people can have things flying around. It's so when someone make a code that have some floating DIVs, it'll be eye-catching to see some sort of animation. The rotate and flip are not going to be used alone. It's not like I'm going to rotate something 50 degrees and keep it there. I want something to rotate 360 degrees for the effect. And I wouldn't flip something once, but twice to get it back to its original state. All these tie together for an entry or exit effect, not to transform a page so it's difficult for someone to use.

An introduction about how it all works and how to actually put things together to creat funtions. I think that will be most helpful.

I don't like that idea, seems really quite pointless.

Nothing is pointless if you know how to use it. Maybe it's useless to you because you wouldn't know how to use it even with a tutorial, or you would never use it in your life. Either way, it's not pointless. And I didn't ask for your opinion, it's a request whether it be fulfilled or not.

You want to know what I think is pointless? Your post. <_<

Okay that was a bit uncalled for, so I'll get back to something more related. thbp's request on the $ is pointless to me because I would never use that tutorial since I know what $ is (in terms of jQuery). Is that better? But does that mean it's pointless? No! Just because I won't use the tutorial doesn't mean it won't help someone else.

Why would you ever want to spin an element 360 degrees? Unless the element was square it could mess up your page in the process. It just seems like a silly idea because there are better attention grabbing alternatives out there which are easier to achieve also, so would be more suited to a tutorial.
