1. Yes, it is. 2. Yes, you can. Successfully, I don't know. 3. Varies from person to person |

I really don't know a good place to learn jQuery. And even if I do, it may not fit you because everyone learns things differently. For me, I learned it through the official jQuery website. You just need to know that those websites are meant for REFERENCE, not so much as to teach you. I learned through practicing and experimenting. Eventually, and I don't care how great of a tutorial you read, that's how you will learn as well. |

.hide is just method (function) they wrote. The coding is fairly short too. If you create jQuery in a "world" (coding world, not the Earth world) where there is immutability and all functions return a type of jQuery object, then you can design hide() very easily. One way:
Another way would be to use a prototype, but in the world I mentioned above, it's not needed, and it wouldn't make sense to do so. But since I don't think jQuery is all immutable, they probably used it as a method above or a prototype. Not sure. Feel free to look into the jQuery source code. |

Well if you can find a quality book on it, but no. jQuery is constantly being updated so it's hard to find a book that covers everything. What you should do is find a code you've written for ZB or IF and convert it to jQuery. And if you need help, you can ask us.
