Or you could just get all the info from "c_mark" which could be updated every 24 hours as Viral says. That would be the easiest way. Unless someone goes out of their way to make fake post counts and mess with their site just to get on top... then I don't know what to do in that situation.

Not sure what you mean reid. When someone submits the board, it will automatically add their stats without them needing to. Dorith, it checks stats with JavaScript turned off therefore whatever someone does, this will get the correct amount.

Well, seems like you've got everything under control and thought of (as usual :P) So I'll just wait to see the finished product before I go poking my head around suggestions. Heh.

Ah, I see. Well then, every time someone would submit one it would have to grab the stats manually first or run the full update thing again. I was saying you could avoid that by putting a short waiting period.

No, the update function has a parameter where I pass the boards into, so I would only pass one board when someone adds their forum into the directory if you know what I mean.

Ah, neat. I assume if the parameter is some random thing (like "all" maybe) then it updates all of them?

No, I just pass it an array with the boards to update.

The directory I was working on is finally complete - bar a few layout issues such as the submenu links and stuff. This is a really advanced directory with a complex ranking system. Every 24 hours it searches every forum in the directory and grabs some stats like the forum post count, member count and the new posts and members in the past 24 hours. These statistics are used in the ranking system. On the home page you are shown 18 genres. You can navigate between the genres and you will be presented with a list of forums (in ranking order). You are able to sort them yourself, by the amount of hits, posts, members etc the forum has. Each page shows up to 10 forums. There is also a 5 star rating system which contributes to the ranking system. At the top of the website, there is a drop menu which has some top 5 lists. When you click the lists you are shown information such as the 5 forums with the highest ranking, hits etc.

The main thing I want you all to know is that it is still in a beta stage. If you notice any bugs, then please post them here.

I have already added a few forums for testing.
