I thought it would be a cool idea of we could have a topic where we could teach each other words/phrases of your home languish or simply any languish you know (especially for those speaking English as first languish).

So, I can start. I come from Sweden so here is some Swedish phrase/words.

"Hej, hur mår du?"

would correspond to..

"Hello, how are you?"

Obviously this is not a direct translation word for word since there is none for this phrase. I guess a more direct translation would be:

"Hi, how do you feel?"

Hello = Hi = Hej
du = you
mår = feel
hur = how

"Jag heter ...., vad heter du?"

translates as approximately

"My name is ......, what is your name?"

heter = named
Actually "name is" would correspond to "heter"

jag = I
my = mitt
vad = what

You say "Jag heter" in Swedish but in English you say "My name is"

LOL, his is more difficult that I thought, and for so simple phrases! I just realize that you can not translate directly because there are different grammar and such...

portuguese:

Oi = Hi
Olá = Hello
Tchau = Bye
Adeus = goodbye
Eu = I
Tu = You
Ele = He
Ela = She
Nós = We
Vós = You
Eles = They

"Oi, como você está?" means "Hello, how are you?"
"Eu te amo" means "I love you"

I'd love to post how to pronunciate it but I don't know how to write it and make you understand
