Is there going to come a day when invisionfree goes away completely? My concern is that eventually there will be no host and/or support or any sites left that offer codes and such suited for if. I'm just trying to decide whether or not to convert to zeta.

There will always be people around using IF, or at the very least the software IF uses. I don't think this be a problem for a long, long time. So, enjoy it and don't stress over it ending. ;)
If you're having trouble deciding, register a test ZB board and see which you like better first hand.

I never thought to register a test board...that is a great idea.

i'm sure IF will always have its loyal devotees, but the resources and support may dry up eventually.

Well, yes, the new ones to an extent. There will always be what has been created lying around at the least.

I'm not convinced InvisionFree will last more than another year or so. There are a few hardcore fans, but eventually they will have to wake up and realise that Zetaboards is a vastly superior and more popular software.

I think some miss the fact that there are lots of invisionfree boards and users who don't advertise their boards, but continue happlilly and invisibly on in their private communities. We can't really track how large a group that is.. A lot of those are quite content to remain where they are, and in fact, will likely not ever want to "advance". I'm on a board like that....the members there don't ever want anything to change. And there are users who genuinely prefer the IPB-based invisionfree software.

I think that as long as the software is availalble, it will be used and new boards will be started on it. Maybe not as many as ZB boards, but I think it will remain a viable option.

So to a novice, such as myself, what is 'vastly superior' about zetaboards?

Well in technicalities, ZB is better because it has a bunch of built in features that IF uses from codes and stuff; slowing it down a bit. But, really it all comes down to preference. There are some people who still prefer IF over ZB, and then there are people who love ZB. It's tough to say that one is better than the other; there are a lot of coditions.

Considering we've gone through 5 rounds of conversions, it is hard to say that one is better than the other. There are still plenty of boards on both. I think at some point, yes, InvisionFree will become the less supported message board. Brandon made ZB because of IF's limitations, but hopefully IF will still be around for a long time.
