I was just looking through the ZB directory at the main site of boards. I hardly see one single board that has signed up in 2009. And most of the 2008 boards are all dead or dying out with hardly anyone active.. It makes me nervous about starting my own board just in case it goes the same way. Did these boards not advertise properly? Or is it just that all the fun of the board has gone? (if there was any).. Whats your view on this? p.s, i think zbcode is great |

Guess that's true. But you look at some forums and there are literally thousands of members. I mean thousands.. even the odd few on ZB/IF.. it just makes me wonder why people have registered all these boards with no intention to use/create a community within them. You know? |

You also have to consider that there are quite a few boards that are specifically used for testing codes, themes....etc. Some ZB/IF users have multiple test boards.

I hope that things will get better. I do a lot of RPG and I have noticed that most use bbphp or Proboards forums instead of Zetaboards. I wonder why? Is it easier or ..

@lirts, i know what you mean, many boards using ZB are pretty much a lot of testing sites. But why make them testing site with official names etc.. anyway, i was browsing earlier this morning, and most good looking boards i came across all had "Board Offline", saying that "We had a long fun run, but due to inactivity and lack of members.." And i was thinking to myself, "Well you've only been around since October 2008.." Your supposed to work on things like that. @stargazer, i know what you mean, some people even use jcink.. i mean whats up with that, invisionfree was better than them. I say that because i am an administrator for a friend on his board (just starting) and the ACP is way too complicated for someone who is new to running a forum. As with Proboards etc.. i think its just people think its better, because a lot of people talk about it, its been around longer. ZetaBoards, ok its been out for a little while but its still new, i guess.. that probably why people choose other. Even though their missing out on a great forum system.. i.e ZB. |

My ZB board only has a little over 50 accounts and it's been around for over a year. You just need to find different ways to motivate your members to come back and join in with the rest of the comunity. Sometimes that can be really, really hard to do because making changes can have either a good impact or a bad impact. You never really know what's going to happen till it happens. Maybe test boards should be stuck in a completely seperate category though so they aren't mixed with others. Would make sense to have something like a test board category. |

When I first converted to ZetaBoards, I was greatly discouraged to find that you could no longer use raw HTML in posts - I don't care about the security issues, I was an admin and it was my choice to do what I wanted - and the way cookies are stored. I used to use cookies in fast scripts all the time in invisionfree, but since they store directory-based, every time they load and new topic, document.cookie is blank. Even if you set up a script to set a cookie each time they load a new page, you can't really store data to access inside topics anymore through cookies, which I found to be a great discouragement on my end. Plus, the HTML thing.. I just can't get over it. It's the admin's fault if their board gets totally destroyed, it's not like HTML from signatures and such can affect the admin CP on IF in any major way - or, if it can, I don't really see how - and saying "the system was designed for idiots" doesn't mean it should be limited for the "experienced" users there. I'm just venting though; I love some of the newer features, I just wish they would let us do certain things.. BBCode is only flexible to a certain extent. |

At first, I thought this topic said "ZBCode Dying". Whoops!ZB was something like "man walking on the moon" for me, compared to IF. I lead a clan using ZB (Artix Entertainment-related), and everyone there pretty much takes advantage of the codes I find in the support forum, here, and a couple of other places. I can't trust other boards for two reasons:
I definitely don't want ZB to die. It's too precious. Edited by SlyCooperFan1, Mar 16 2009, 07:13 PM.
