Personally, if there was some sort of incentive to learn to code and more tutorials, I think having something for those who contribute back with codes would be nice. I can't code, which is why I sort of dislike the idea Vitality suggested. But, being completely unbiased, it is a good idea - if you contribute to the forum, you get rewarded. EDIT: I also like your idea HS, at least the structure to it. With some codes, like the Quick Edit, I think if there was also that added perk of being able to use codes like that on special request once you hit 100 posts or like 250 posts, then it would really benefit the forum. Another idea is to have requests that won't be released to the public at like 1000 posts or something. I am somehow convincing myself that there are perks to becoming active here. Boo, I need to learn to code. Edited by Nivexonix, Jan 25 2009, 12:16 AM.

The sooner its implemented the better ! And those who do contribute to filling code request (with a # to reach) should be moved into a group with 'special' permissions even if they are not 'official' staff. one less post to reach 100 !! |

What does everyone think about increasing the postcount requirement of the requests forum to 10 posts and access to the premium codes section to 15?

10 would be good. Premium codes as in staff codes? Perhaps 15 or 20. 50 will get complaints for staff codes. |

I like the idea for exclusive codes for people in the 100 club! Go for it!

Yes. I 100% agree with this. If we could inspire more people to learn to code rather than having everyone request everything we would have more members contributing. I know I was inspired to start when I saw the likes of slayer, Duveaux and gk all posting code upon code. I was blown away wanted to think up my own ideas. And Nivexonix, if you say you should learn, and you feel you're sticking around for some kind of award, you should start learning! That moment when you complete your first working code on your own is very rewarding, and worth the process. That's what kept me going.I think bumping up the request count may be a good idea as well. |

well what type of reward for learning to code? knowledge is the best time of reward not to mention it allows you to do whatever you need when you need it. its hard to reward people when we are the ones teaching you ![]() if you contribute alot to the forum you will definately get rewarded ![]() also its very time consuming to write tutorials. so to do that, complete requests, get the community going and all that is alot of work. plus the more people ask how they could do this or that will result in more tutorials. Feel free to be like. I would like to do this request but could you teach me how to do it. I have no problem doing a code request with anyone. The problem is people have to want to learn and not quit half way through. ![]() keep the ideas coming! i like it! |
