WEEK OF JUNE 14 - JUNE 18, 1976
Leslie died on the operating table... Mike swore revenge on Spence... Anne went bananas with guilt... Ed tried to comfort Joe by telling him there wasn't anything more he could have done to save her... Steve broke down... and now, Bert has the heavy task of getting everyone through the ordeal.

WEEK OF JUNE 21 - JUNE 25, 1976
Justin Marler was rubbing everyone the wrong way, especially Joe... Barbara reconciled with Holly and Adam... Rita tried to get rid of Tim; he got drunk; she had to straighten him out in time for an emergency call at the hospital... Ann was packing to leave town. Mike convinced her she wasn't to blame for Leslie's death.

WEEK OF JUNE 28 - JULY 2, 1976
Pam told Peggy she's leaving town... Barbara made a stab at reconciling with Roger and Peggy... Mike discovered that Spence is wanted for murder... Ann went looking for Spence and found him in a cabin -- with a shotgun in his hands.

WEEK OF JULY 5 - JULY 9, 1976
Spence held Ann and Mike captive at gun point after wounding Mike... Pam accused Rita of leading Tim on and ruining his career; then Pam split town.

WEEK OF JULY 12 - JULY 16, 1976
note was made of pre-emptions during the week for the Democratic National Convention.
Spence turned himself in. Mike went out of town, leaving Hope with Ben. Rita's mother is ill, so Rita can't repay Roger. Ann's son is missing. Bert invited Holly and Christina to Ed's birthday party.

WEEK OF JULY 19 - JULY 23, 1976
Justin and Steve argued over Tim. Rita and Holly met for the first time. Ed confessed he's unsure whether to go through with his divorce from Holly. Rita's mother and sister, Viola and Eve, arrived. Viola's being treated by Sarah.

WEEK of JULY 26 - JULY 30, 1976
Rita enticed Ed and conveniently forgot to tell him Holly tried to get in touch. Viola's condition worsened. Ben called Hope a prude for not going all the way. Mike returned. D-Day, the final divorce decree, arrived for Holly and Ed.

WEEK OF AUGUST 2 - AUGUST 6, 1976
Ed saved Mrs. Stapleton, but lost Holly. Hope debated whether to pose nude for Ben's art class. Tim grew interested in Evie. Ed and Holly discovered that her last-minute call had been intercepted by Rita.

WEEK OF AUGUST 9 - AUGUST 13, 1976
Rita was disturbed to learn Tim is dating Evie, but Rita's making the grade with Ed. Hope declined to pose nude. Sara grew alarmed at Joe's overworked schedule and became impressed with Justin's expertise.

WEEK OF AUGUST 16 - AUGUST 20, 1976
Joe collapsed with his heart condition. Justin saved his life, much to Sarah's relief. Mike confronted Hope with the town gossip about her and Ben. She set him straight.

WEEK OF AUGUST 23 - AUGUST 27, 1976
Mike told Hope he'd seen the nude portrait by Ben. She accused him of not believing her. Evie felt inadequate for Tim, who was promoted by Ed. Rita kept Holly from seeing Ed.

WEEK OF AUGUST 30 - SEPTEMBER 3, 1976
Justin told Joe he couldn't be released yet. Viola wants to return home; Evie resisted. Ben blew up at Mike, who asked to be country prosecutor. Adam and Barbara returned.

WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 6 - SEPTEMBER 10, 1976
Evie decided to stay and study nursing. Roger and Rita were concerned about a man from Rita's past, Malcolm Granger. Ed took his exams and Joe left the hospital.

WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 13 - SEPTEMBER 17, 1976
Forced by Granger's presence, Rita confessed to Ed she's not proud of her past. Ed told Bert of his attraction for Rita. Tim advised Evie about her career. Ben acted cool toward Hope.

WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 20 - SEPTEMBER 24, 1976
Justin allowed Joe to work one hour a day as a consultant. Granger blamed Rita for his father's death. He threatened her and Roger's future and then had an attack. Hope was upset Ben lost his job because of his temper.

WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 27 - OCTOBER 1, 1976
Justin was pressed to sell his property to the hospital. He consulted Mike, but both agreed there would be a conflict of interest. Peggy was on duty when Granger regained consciousness.

WEEK OF OCTOBER 4 - OCTOBER 8, 1976
Granger reacted violently when Rita showed up in his hospital room. Ed learned Holly had wanted to stop the divorce. Justin donated his property to the hospital. Joe learned of Sara and Justin's past relationship. Ben pressed Hope for a commitment.

WEEK OF OCTOBER 11 - OCTOBER 15, 1976
Hope finally made it with Ben. Adam announced that Justin has been named head of the research center. Rita wavered on whether to tell Ed about Granger.

WEEK OF OCTOBER 18 - OCTOBER 22, 1976
Ben and Hope planned a Christmas wedding. Viola realized that Evie loves Tim. Rita was in a frenzy. A nurse at the hospital discovered Granger's support systems were dead.

WEEK OF OCTOBER 25 - OCTOBER 29, 1976
The hospital review board decided no one was to blame for Granger's death, but Granger's attorney is investigating. Ben's brother Jerry arrived in town. Sara gave Joe a surprise going-away party. He's off to India. Hope went back to work at the Metro.

WEEK OF NOVEMBER 1 - NOVEMBER 5, 1976
Ben was interrogated about a robbery involving his car. He didn't tell them he had loaned it to Jerry. Rita warned Tim not to lead Evie on. Holly and Ed agreed to forget about the past and begin a new friendship.

WEEK OF NOVEMBER 8 - NOVEMBER 12, 1976
Evie was shattered to learn Tim plans to leave town. Ben planned to use his and Hope's money to get Jerry out of trouble when Jerry admitted he had committed the robbery. Sara decided to join Joe in India.

WEEK OF NOVEMBER 15 - NOVEMBER 19, 1976
Sara learned about Joe's heart attack. Hope grew suspicious of Ben when she discovered he withdrew their joint savings. Malcolm's family lawyer, Raymond Shafer, grilled Steve and Ed about Rita's involvement with Malcolm.

WEEK OF NOVEMBER 22 - NOVEMBER 26, 1976 (THANKSGIVING WEEK)
Everyone mourned Joe's death. Hope gave Ben's ring back to him and grew despondent at his refusal to tell her the truth about the robbery. Rita tried to cheer up Evie over Tim's departure. Raymond discovered clues that pointed to Rita's involvement in Granger's death.

WEEK OF NOVEMBER 29 - DECEMBER 3, 1976
Tim wrote Rita admitting he loved her. Evie found it and blamed Rita for driving Tom away. Holly dated another man but she can't get over Ed. Steve courted Bert and it looks like wedding bells. Rita's neighbor informed Raymond that Granger had visited Rita and argued with her violently.

WEEK OF DECEMBER 6 - DECEMBER 10, 1976
Peggy told Roger the police are investigating Granger's death. Justin consoled Sara. Then his ex-wife, Jacqueline, came to Springfield with her ill father, Emmett. Justin agreed to take care of him. Ed told Bert he intends to propose to Rita. Holly called and asked Ed to check Christina, who's become ill. Evie had it out with Rita.

WEEK OF DECEMBER 13 - DECEMBER 17, 1976
Rita was thrilled when Ed proposed, but a warrant for her arrest was issued in the Granger case. Holly admitted to Barbara that it wasn't easy to forget about Ed. Roger told Holly he cared for Christina's welfare. Jackie grew suspicious of Sara and Justin.

WEEK OF DECEMBER 20 - DECEMBER 24, 1976
Rita was booked for murder but thanks to Mike, she was released on bail just in time to join Ed as he recited an annual Christmas story to the children at the hospital. Lonely Holly joined Barbara and Adam.

WEEK OF DECEMBER 27 - DECEMBER 31, 1976
Rita felt guilt for not telling Mike the whole story about Granger and his family but insisted she didn't kill him. Roger pleaded with Rita not to reveal their past relationship. The Bauers were upset about the sensational publicity linking Rita with Ed, and Holly felt sorry for him.
