WEEK OF JUNE 14 - JUNE 18, 1976 Mrs. Lum, posing as Mrs. Carpenter via a phone call, introduced herself to Kitty as her long-lost mother... Nancy gave Frank an ultimatum: Find a job or join her in Chicago... Ruth moved out on Joe and told David she needed him more than ever... Erica didn't score points with Chuck when she told him he was making a mistake trying to reform Donna. WEEK OF JUNE 21 - JUNE 25, 1976 Paul broke the news to Anne; her tests were positive... Donna wanted to ditch her studies after Ty ranted and threatened; Chuck was insistent she continue... Linc and Kitty finally met her "mother." WEEK OF JUNE 28 - JULY 2, 1976 Phoebe didn't take kindly to Brooke's boyfriend, Benny. But she has no choice after he found out about her scheme... Kitty decided to spend more time with "mother"; Linc's suspicious. WEEK OF JULY 5 - JULY 9, 1976 After sneaking out of the hospital, Donna was back in business with Ty. She's having second thoughts and a bummer of a leg... Thanks to Erica, Phoebe learned of Donna's reputation and had a scene with Chuck... Mrs. Lum is on to Phoebe's game... Charles informed Anne of the consequences of she doesn't get an abortion. WEEK OF JULY 12 - JULY 16, 1976 note was made of pre-emptions during the week for the Democratic National Convention. Chuck went looking for Donna and found hooker Estelle, who played dumb. Mrs. Lum intercepted Linc's calls to Kitty. Kate got huffy with David. Nancy and Frank's wies got crossed. Paul and Anne decided against abortion. WEEK OF JULY 19 - JULY 23, 1976 Phil returned. David asked Ruth to move into his cottage. Ty beat up Estelle then threatened Lettie Jean, who squealed. Ty offered Donna the No. 1 spot in his stable; she agreed. Chuck was left to face Ty's boys. Mrs. Lum used a fake heart condition to keep Kitty. WEEK of JULY 26 - JULY 30, 1976 Chuck recuperated from his beating. Tara found out, blamed herself, and returned home. Linc admitted to Kitty he thought Mama Carpenter was a fake. Joe interrupted a chat between David and Ruth, then accused Ruth of using his office as a lovers' meeting place. WEEK OF AUGUST 2 - AUGUST 6, 1976 Anne led Linc to Kate, who knew Mrs. Carpenter 20 years ago. Ty beat Donna when he discovered her phoning Chuck. Frank agreed to return to Center City with Chuck. Ruth told Ted she still loves Joe. WEEK OF AUGUST 9 - AUGUST 13, 1976 Ty forced Estelle to tell Chuck that Donna moved to New York. Phil accused Tara of returning home for Chuck's sake. Mrs. Carpenter hire eccentric Nigel Fargate to pose as her physician, Dr. Jones. Erica made a grand play for Chuck, but he's wise to her. WEEK OF AUGUST 16 - AUGUST 20, 1976 Nick got it on hot and heavy with Erica, then brushed her off. Linc sent airplane tickets to Mrs. Carpenter, her bogus doctor, and Kitty. Anne grew despondent about her failing health. Nancy is jealous of Caroline and furious with Frank. WEEK OF AUGUST 23 - AUGUST 27, 1976 Ruth agreed to marry David, but asked to keep the engagement secret. Kitty made her choice: Mama rather than Llnc. Donna ran away froM Ty and arrived at Phoebe's. Anne's illness was diagnosed as psychosomatic. Brooke turned from Benny to Danny. WEEK OF AUGUST 30 - SEPTEMBER 3, 1976 Tara and Phil argued over Ruth and Joe. Kate and Ruth had a tiff. Ty threatened Frank. Chuck tended Donna in Phoebe's house, much to the chagrin of Phoebe, Tara, and Erica. Mrs. Carpenter's "doctor" plan was stalled. WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 6 - SEPTEMBER 10, 1976 Tara met Donna; sparks flew. Tara's concern for Chuck caused a split with Phil. Ty discovered Donna was in the hospital under an assumed name. Nancy and Caroline came to grips over Frank. Mrs. Carpenter foiled Linc's camera plan. WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 13 - SEPTEMBER 17, 1976 Dr. Christina Karras, Anne's new pediatrician, recognized David from San Francisco. Brooke got it on with Benny. Phoebe threatened, but Benny blackmailed her. Frank told Nancy he wouldn't leave Pine Valley for the Chicago job offer. Ty plotted to get even with Donna. WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 20 - SEPTEMBER 24, 1976 Chuck forbade Donna to meet Ty and went in her place. Ty stabbed Chuck, but Frank saved the day and the police were called. Erica suspected David's secret past as a doctor. Mrs. Carpenter got the guilts. Anne went into labor. WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 27 - OCTOBER 1, 1976 Phoebe told Mona she would never give Charles a divorce. Anne's baby, Elizabeth, was born, but further tests are required. Mona grew suspicious of Mrs. Carpenter. Chuck refused to remarry Tara. Phil refused to accept her on the rebound. WEEK OF OCTOBER 4 - OCTOBER 8, 1976 David pressured Ruth to ask Joe for a divorce. She chickened out when baby Elizabeth's test results came in. Anne's baby appears to have reflex retardation and may be blind. Erica and Nick got it on again. Mona left for Minneapolis to check out Kitty's "mother." Danny grew more attracted to Brooke. WEEK OF OCTOBER 11 - OCTOBER 15, 1976 Mona discovered that Mrs. Carpenter is Myrtle Lum, but she promised not to tell Kitty. Myrtle agreed to get out of Kitty's life within a month. Ann refused to accept Elizabeth's retardation. Benny moved inot the Tyler pool house. Joe learned David and Ruth may leave town. WEEK OF OCTOBER 18 - OCTOBER 22, 1976 Mona lied and identified Mrs. Carpenter as the real McCoy -- for Kitty's sake. Ruth was ready to leave with David when Joe was admitted to the hospital for acute appendicitis. Chuck became Donna's legal guardian. Caroline advised Frank to reconcile with Nancy. WEEK OF OCTOBER 25 - OCTOBER 29, 1976 David operated on Joe, then realized Ruth still loves Joe. Phoebe received her divorce papers. Tara told Phil she was ready to marry him. Erica protested, but Nick carried her off to bed. WEEK OF NOVEMBER 1 - NOVEMBER 5, 1976 Kitty visited Linc and agreed to marry him if he's move to Minneapolis with "mama." Mona blackmailed Phoebe, who agreed to give Charles a divorce. Joe's off the critical list. WEEK OF NOVEMBER 8 - NOVEMBER 12, 1976 Dr. Jones informed Kitty that "mama" died in her sleep. Linc and Kitty insisted on attending the funeral. Anne freaked out and took drastic action when she realized the extent of Elizabeth's retardation. Kate was wary of Ruth's reconciliation with Joe. WEEK OF NOVEMBER 15 - NOVEMBER 19, 1976 Phoebe decided to investigate Mrs. Lum's "death" by attending the funeral. Erica was suspicious, too. Little Phillip was distraught to learn Tara and Uncle Phil plan to wed. WEEK OF NOVEMBER 22 - NOVEMBER 26, 1976 (THANKSGIVING WEEK) Phoebe was stunned to encounter Myrtle's "ghost," who warned Phoebe that her number would be up if Linc ever discovered the truth. Myrtle then ran off to Hollywood with Fargate. Christina advised Ann not to overcompensate for her retarded daughter, Elizabeth, since it might affect her marriage. WEEK OF NOVEMBER 29 - DECEMBER 3, 1976 Christina was haunted by the ghost of someone she "didn't mean to kill." Donna was refused a job because of her reputation. Believing that Nick is attracted to Christina, Erica resumed her modeling career. Kitty postponed her remarriage to Linc. Ruth moved back with Kate and Joe. Frank confessed his love for Caroline. WEEK OF DECEMBER 6 - DECEMBER 10, 1976 Phoebe went overboard when she learned Kitty is showing her "mother's" picture to everyone and that Kate might see it and would blow the whistle. Chuck convinced Donna to get a legitimate job rather than return to the streets. Erica decided not to resume modeling but discovered that Nick planned to replace her at the restaurant. Paul got testy with Ann for overcompensating for Beth. Little Phillip isn't adjusting to Tara and Phil's upcoming wedding. WEEK OF DECEMBER 13 - DECEMBER 17, 1976 Mona asked Nick to rehire Erica. Phoebe stole Kitty's picture of "mama." David suggested that Christina seek professional help after he heard her talking to herself. Little Phil was distraught when he found Tara and Phil kissing. Frank told Caroline that it's all over between him and Nancy. WEEK OF DECEMBER 20 - DECEMBER 24, 1976 Kate cooked up a Christmas storm as the Martins welcomed the return of Jeff who has been away from Pine Valley for over a year. WEEK OF DECEMBER 27 - DECEMBER 31, 1976 Not too much to cheer about in Pine Valley as David left town. Phil and Tara were married despite a temporary setback while everyone searched for little Phil who had trouble adjusting. Erica perked up when she learned ex-husband Jeff had returned. Benny and Brooke resolved to continue seeing each other despite Phoebe's threats. |
