Since we don't have a thread where we can ask each other for various sources, I thought it might be a good idea to open one up, in order to bolster our search for knowledge. I do have a fair number of books and articles available now, so if anyone needs anything, feel free to post it here and I will see what I can do. With that said, I will open up with the first request: does anyone know what would be a good source for military academy curricula in the early 19th century? I know it varies from nation to nation, and I could use any of them, though my preference would be French, Prussian and American/West Point curricula. |

An interesting query. I would recommend looking up any online resources about Clausewitz and Jomini and then possibly trying some Napoleonic War forums. |

The only thing close to this that I have in my library is An American Profession of Arms, which is a somewhat rare book dealing with the West Point officer corps for the first half of the 19th century. It would impinge on this topic, but isn't quite what you're looking for. There would probably be some old books scanned on Google. I've run across a few before in the course of looking up data for our projects, but I don't know if they'd meet your criteria. A lot of it would be based on Jomini. |
