What would be some of the long term implications of Admiral Sir George Tryon not causing and dying in the naval accident of 1893? |

Depends on what exactly happens. We in the west have this notion that it is honorable for the commanding officer to go down with his or her ship even though it is completely illogical to throw away a experienced commanding officer because his ship does not come home. HMS Victoria had a bit of a unlucky stigma, if HMS Victoria goes down and Tryon abandons ship chances are his legacy will be tarnished. If HMS Victoria is not sunk chances are good that some other accident will result in HMS Victoria being wrote off as unsalvageable later on in Admiral Tryon's career. Other changes that might happen include the TA system becoming standard in the Royal Navy. |
