Trial by jury has not been the only method of determining guilt or innocence throughout history. In medieval times, there was also trial by combat and trial by ordeal, among others. How might we see some of these alternate judicial practices survive to modern Europe, and what would they look like? |

We would definitely need a continuation of a large socio political role for the Church, and possibly some carryover from feudalism. Very interesting concept. |

You would definitely need a more religious environment for ordeal. Would it have to be a Christian culture? Would some of the pagan and Nordic religions prove suitable? |

That would suit it quite well. How they would go about surviving the interim period between the Early Middle Ages and modernity is the difficult part. |
