April 18, 1943 (75 years) - Admiral Yamamoto is shot down over Bougainville in Operation Vengeance. Probably the P-38's greatest single accomplishment.

April 21, 1918 (100 years) - Manfred von Richthofen is shot down over France. Although others have surpassed him in raw quantity, he is still probably the most legendary ace.
