Zagreb Rocket Attacks - Serbian paramilitary launches rocket attacks using "Orkan" 262mm multiple rocket launcher systems, dropping at least dozens of rockets with cluster warheads on Zagreb, Karlovac, Osijek and other cities as retaliation for Operation "Flash"; 7 civilians killed, 214 wounded (17 years)

One of them cluster bombs fell on my school - they still haven't patched it up properly...

Ironically enough, it seems that Karadžić might finally receive the punishment for his crimes today, on this anniversary.

The end of the Battle of Vukovar - Croatian Thermopylae fell to the Persians of the Modern Age 22 years ago.

Perhaps appropriate, as it was written only a few days before the end:

Quote:

The Story of the City (Siniša Glavašević, 4/11/1960-19/11/1991)

I give up my search for all justice and truth; I refrain from attempts to put my life before my ideals; I give up everything that until yesterday I considered essential for some good beginning or good end. I would try to give myself up, but alas, I cannot. For who will remain if we renounce ourselves and flee into our fears? Who will inherit the city? Who will guard it for me when I am gone, trying to find myself in the ash heaps of human spirit, while I all alone, staggering without myself, wounded, tired, feverish, while my eyes begin to wax before my personal defeat?

Who will protect my city, my friends, who will carry Vukovar from the dark? There aren't shoulders stronger than mine or yours - and if it isn't too much for you, if there still remains in you a youthful whisper, join us in our darkest hour.

Somebody has taken away my parks, the benches that still have your names carved into them, that shadow in which you gave and received your first kiss - somebody has simply stolen it all, because how do you explain that not even the shadows are gone? There isn't that store window in which you admired your personal joys, there isn't that movie theater in which you saw the saddest movie - your past has been decimated and now you have nothing.

You must build anew. First you must find your roots, your past, and then your present, and then, if you still have the strength - invest it in the future. And do not be alone in the future. Do not worry about the city, it has been with you all this time. Only hidden - so that the murderer couldn't find it.

The city - it is you.

As far as I am aware he is the only one to have ever been elected for anything, so %100 of the time that we are elected, we are elected for life.

It was meant to be a joke y'know.
