The funny thing about puppies.

For the past three years, I have raised a puppy. One each year. And every single time I forget just how much of a pain puppies are! LOL. There is just something about them - I guess it makes me feel very maternal. Riley's about 9-10 months old now, and I'm just starting to get puppy fever again! Arg! And he's still not 100% housebroken.

Gah. I swear. :P

That's interesting! My last pup lasted me 4 years.
I have a feeling that if I plan on another PyreShep as my next dog I am going to put it off as long as possible because PyreShep puppies are H*ll! Constant barking, biting, impossible to housebreak, mud/snow tracking, chewing, etc. Not to mention how hard these little buggers are to train. Ga, I can't wait for him to grow up and mature!

Are paps in general hard to deal with pups?

Nah, Papillons are good dogs. However, they are more difficult to housetrain than other breeds, which is pretty much the only downer with them for me. Riley used to play bite for a few months - it took him a while to stop. It hurt. :P

I raised Oreo and Riley, and a sheltie, Zoey. Zoey is a handful. She has sosososo much energy. And she took a while to housetrain too, because when she got excited playing with Oreo in the house (this was before Riley) she would pee as she was playing. She never indicated she had to go.

But she's better now thankfully. They were all pretty good pups, just huge handfuls. :P

I've never fully raised a puppy, but my Chinese Crested might as well have been a puppy, he wasn't trained or housebroken, and was already four years old (as is kind of obvious, he was a rescue). And he was a pain to train, especially since he was so sensitive, so yeah.

I plan on getting a puppy once I get a place of my own, though, should be lots of fun. =p
