[Event] In-Game Bot Match

Yes, there is a prize.

What ? In-game Bot Match ? Yes.

Bot, as in robot, is what will be competing in this event. Every competitor should build it's own bot or mini-tank (bots don't always have to be with 2 little legs/arms).

The bot MUST be completely self-built, so no copy/pasting from websites or w/e. Just use your imagination people ! Even simple plates with numpad wheels on it is a bot !

The idea itself came from KjA, he was building an arena but without the idea of making an event of it. But he had some trouble with the arena he was building and it was completely destroyed. So me and Meteor decided to pick up the idea and finish it.

The game master for this event is me. When there's doubt, a second person will be appointed for consulting. If there seems to be a conflict that can't be resolved by 2 people, a general vote will be started.

Next, the bot has some restrictions. They are posted a bit below.

And most important, the goal of the event. How will we decide the winner ?
Every bot will compete in our self-built arena. All the bots will be competing on a floating plate (a quite big one) and the winning bot is the last one remaining on the plate.

So, the restrictions !

- No freezers.
- No grabbers.
- No weapons or any other damage-giving stuff (so no explosives, pewpew, turrets, etc.)
- No flying. Floating is allowed at a certain height, but it can not fly higher than small wheels. Also, no jumping (using thrusters or w/e).
- All wheels MUST be small/medium. There are medium wheels that are still quite small, use them.
- The height of the bot can, at max., be as high as a regular person (in-game models).
- Same rule applies to the width. At max., the width can be the same as the height of a person.
- Bots must be remote controlled.
- No cameras are allowed. They won't be needed, we've built the arena quite good.
- E2 is allowed, but restrictions apply. For example, as said before, floating is allowed, but not higher than small wheels.
- ANY kind of target finding is NOT allowed. Same goes for E2. No target finders, no find() in E2, etc.
- Prop spawning is only allowed after me (Twilight) or Meteor know the reason why, what you want to spawn, and the use for it. With decent reasons, it can be allowed.
- No teleportation
- All values used in wire stuff (thruster strength, etc.) can NOT be typed in yourself. Same goes when using E2. The values can only be as high as the maximum value allowed by the sliding bar.
- No ragdolls/NPCs or whatever
- No facers

For example, for thruster multiplier, the maximum allowed is 10000. This applies to ALL used stuff. When using E2, you must use the normal wire limit. You can't type in your own values.

- Your bot MUST be touchable. You can't use no-collide on everything so that it drives through the other bots.

- When using downward thrusters or other devices to stick your bot to the ground, there is a time limit for using those tools. They can only be used during one second every 5 seconds. Also, for thrusters for this purpose, visual effects MUST be enabled.

Someone asked me, so I'll state it here ;

- The limit on building time is the starting time. 15 Minutes before the actual event starts, as stated above.

- There is no defined round time limit. We will, however, integrate a few functions. You've probably already seen it in real robot battles ; Special tools coming out of secret places/walls ? Yeah, count on it.

- The winner's bot will be investigated to check for any illegal stuff. If it's disqualified, the winner will be the follow-up.

And here's a list of allowed stuff ;

- Downward thrusters or weight tool. There IS a restriction though, read above.
- Forcers are allowed, but only with maximum normal values (as explained above) and a max distance of 100.
- Holos are allowed if they do NOT block other people's sight or anything.
- Weld latches are allowed.
- Adv Pod Controllers are allowed, but the pod can NOT be on your bot.
- Hydraulics. But they can not be used to jump up all the time.
- Hoverballs are allowed, but they can't change height during the battle and your bot can not fly higher than regular wheels.
- Thrusters
- etc.

Now, THE MOST IMPORTANT PART !

THE PRIZE !

The prize will be bought by me (Twilight) and Meteor. Legally, no strings attached.

The winner will be able to choose between one of these Steam games ;
- Beat Hazard
- Foreign Legion: Buckets of Blood
- realMYST
- Half-Life 2: Deathmatch
- Sid Meier's Civilization III: Complete
- Overlord
- Beyond Good and Evil

The event will start this Sunday August, 22 at 20h (8pm) GMT+1.

All competitors must be on the BuildIt server at least 15 minutes before that time.
The maximum amount of competitors is 11 (12 server slots, me not included, so 11).

To see what time it is @ GMT+1, CLICK HERE.

I know that website says "GMT+2", but that's because it doesn't take into account daylight-saving time. The clock on that website is the right one.

All competitors MUST reply to this thread to enter. A current list will be updated as soon as someone enters.

Current competitors ;
- Meteor -
- Karma -
- NeoTech -
- Chifilly -
- Zach -
- Tempest -

I'm hoping the BuildIt admins/members will help advertise a bit (: We'll do our best as well !

If the list of competitors is full, other players are free to wait off the server in case someone doesn't show up. In that case, someone that replied to this thread but wasn't on the competitor's list, will be allowed to play. For this reason, you must add me on Steam so I'm able to contact you. My Steam details are registered on this forum (they are displayed in this thread, on the top, under my username).

And that's pretty much it. Build your bot, and enjoy !

I'll edit my first post with Neo & Karma's names once Chifilly allows me to edit my post without the time limit. (:

I'll give it a go. Will weight tool be allowed? I imagine it would cause some problems if the bots were 50000kg

Weight tool is allowed, BUT those effects are the same as 'downward thrusters'. Read the first post about downward thrusters.
