CHAPTER 1- THE CALL OF DESTINY
Nero swung his sword over his head, aiming to cleave his skeletal opponent in two. His body was nearly as frozen as the Arctic seas he was fighting beside, but his purpose drove him on. With a single strike, the skull of his target was sliced in two, and the dark power that animated its icy bones for their last fight was lost to the winds. Eravius knew that this victory meant nothing, for before him was an entire skeletal army of lifeless undead. He knew that this was not a battle he was likely to win, so he backed towards the rope bridge that spanned a thousand-foot plunge into the icy waters of the Zifreon Ocean. The skeleton army of the Brotherhood of Fyron was too much for a single warrior, no matter how heroic or powerful.
Soon he was standing on the worn planks of the bridge, and with a quick glance through the boards he knew that he would never survive a fall. His hand, frostbitten and scarred, was projected infront of him in a final stand. His palm erupted with a blue flame, which coiled around his fingers like serpentine tendrils. An inferno of brilliant azure flew gracefully from his hand, and scorched the marrow of the oncoming legion. But they marched on, burned and blackened by the magical fury that is the power of the eternal flame.
He turned and ran, as fast as his battle-worn legs could carry him. His brown parka fluttered in the wind, as if animated by the same energy that drove the army trailing him. But his skeletal enemies were one step ahead, and began cutting the ropes of Eravius' only lifeline. Every slash of the rusted blade resounded with a noise so horrible that he felt as if he would die before he even hit the bottom. The ropes shook, and the bridge fell into the gastly depths.
A frozen, gloved hand grasped its way over the edge of the fallen bridge. Destiny has its own way of intervening with human lives, but Nero had met destiny far too many times for it to be just luck. Nero looked across at the skeletal fiends that had nearly cost him his life, and for a moment one could have sworn that they saw a glistening smile on the frostbitten face of the Knight of the Dragon Fang.

Infinite in mystery is the gift of the goddess

CHAPTER 2: HEART OF DARKNESS

Neon and purest white lined the streets of Harriston. The city is a living metropolis, with cars and passers-by acting like precious blood, moving all about, not caring where they are or where they end up. And between the buildings of the City of Light, there are the alleyways and dark places that hide secrets that the average citizen does not know, nor care about. For betwixt the hallowed halls of the daily grind are those who are wise enough to know better than to ignore the outside world. Warriors and scholars, modern magicians and inventors, witches and warlocks. All travel through the city on a daily basis, taking odd-jobs and getting by on their own wit and wisdom. And so it is not unbelievable for unusual people to wander down the alleys and crossroads of the city unnoticed.
That is exactly how a young woman by the name of Tina slipped through the light of the early morning to deliver a package to her father. She wore a metal gauntlet on her right hand and a black glove on the other. Her pitch-black hair was highlighted with streaks of red and purple. She was dressed entirely in black, with little of any other color even showing in the slightest bit. But even then, the most unusual thing about her was the fact that she wasn't unusual at all. People like her streamed through every hour, charging small fees for black magicks and various curses and trinkets. But she was not thinking about money. She was making sure that her delivery made it to its designated recipient. She ran down a flight of stairs into what seemed, to outsiders, to be a decrepit basement. However, as with most of the city, it was not what it seemed. As she passed through the rusted door, everything turned black. But Tina was used to darkness, as for as long as she could remember she always lived in it. Two red eyes grew out of the darkness, glowing with hatred and the souls of millions.
"Do you have the shard?.."
"Yes, father."
Tina placed the box down infront of her, and opened the lid. Inside, suspended in the air inside a glass case, was a glowing blue crystal.
"Excellent.. The first of many to come. This will be retribution for all that my brother has caused me.. Soon, darkness will overpower Ultima's light, and the uprising of Drannhilate will begin!", roared the gigantic beast.
"Yeah, yeah, retribution and all that.. I'm tired with always being the person who gets to complete all your plans. Don't you get it that they never work?", mumbled Tina.
"Silence! You must seize the other 5 shards, and this time don't fail me!"
"Why does it always have to be shards, or crystals, or orbs, or keys, or stars, or Pure Hea-"
"SILENCE! You will follow my commands, or else!"
"Or else what? You'll banish me to Erebus for the hundreth time? Know what, send me there now, I think I'll like it more than picking up your ancient laundry. I'm out of here, scales.", muttered Tina, wandering out the door. But as soon as she walked a single step, her feet stopped moving. Her muscles froze on command of her shadowy father.
"Enough! You WILL obtain the rest of the shards, and you WILL help the uprising of the Army of Shadows! Do it, or I will make sure you never come out of the endless void!"
"Fine.. I'll go and get your shards or whatever.. Just keep my room clean while I'm gone."
And with that she disappeared into the shadows.
"For the first time in all of eternity, the power will shift to the shadowy claws of I, Drannhilate!"

And so Drannhilate laughed with a voice that shook mountains. His bellows resounded throughout the halls of his stronghold. And so began the scheme soon to be known as the War of Retribution.

"Why is everything so technical, got me thinkin' mechanical, puffin' on those botanicals, every second so critical. Bored with the human language, pain beat on my mental. Messin' with chemicals, sick as the appetites of cannibals. Far away they shoot a laser from a computer- ricochets off a satellite panel to a missile silo in Cuba. Eyes behold catastrophe, foreseen by Nostradamus. The prophets peep the millennium age of the broken promise. CHAPTER 3: THE AGENCY

Eravius walked through the revolving doors of the Dimensional Defense Agency, paying no attention to those around him. His hands were wrapped in bandages, crimson with his own blood. Atop his head, brown hair spread out in every direction, looking as if it hadn't been taken care of in weeks. His steel-plated leather boots clanked on the pristine marble, drawing the attention of everyone in the room. The man proceeded to hobble up to the desk, at which a woman was sitting. Her brown hair was tied back in a ponytail, with a orange clip pinning it together. She seemed as if she would soon die from boredom if she did not soon get out of the repetitive toil of her secretary job. Eravius raised an eyebrow, confusion apparent in his eyes. "Since when did the Agency get a new secretary?", he said, questioning the woman. She looked up from the book she was reading, the cover of which read "Aliens, Psychics, and Time Travellers: How To Fit In With the Unusual". "Last time I checked, I've been in this boring position for a year. If only I could find another job.." she mumbled, staring the man in the eye. Nero soon stepped back, realizing his obvious mistake. "Oh, Agent Suzumiya. My mind must still be recovering from that awful strike back in the frozen lands." said the man, rubbing the side of his head, "You think you've seen everything, and then someone pulls off their own skull and bludgeons you with it.." The woman giggled, and the life went back into her face. "Mr. Hanekoma is waiting for you in the briefing room." The man smirked. "Thanks for the heads up. See you later, Suzy." With that, the red Ms. Suzumiya's face flared up even further. She went into a sudden rage. "MY NAME IS HARUHI SUZUMIYA! I AM NOT SUZY, OR HARRY, OR EVEN MIA. I AM HARUHI!", she bellowed, rattling the eardrums of Nero. "Yes, ma'am..", he muttered, wandering into a nearby elevator. The metal door closed, just as Haruhi turned to the next man in line. "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT?"

Eravius watched the LCD screen as the displayed digits went from 1 to B6. The door opened into a black marble room, entirely empty. The sole feature that drew Nero's eyes was a machine dangling from the ceiling in front of the opposite door. Its white casing contrasted with the glowing, red, robotic eye it displayed. "State your name.", said a robotic yet feminine voice. "Eravius Vercaccia Nero.", muttered Eravius. "What is your Agent ID Number?", said the machine. The man glared at the cyclopean android. "GLaDOS, you know who I am. Let me in before I take a welder to your motherboard again." The single red eye turned blue, its voice obviously shaken. "Of course, Mr. Nero. Proceed into the facility." Nero smiled. "Thank you." And with that, he ran into the next room. The room was white, with blue wires running along the walls. The wires glowed blue with electricity and signals, snaking around the long room. Dozens of desks stuck out from the floor, giving the appearance of a typical office. A horde of Agents were typing on keyboards, reading dossiers, and writing on various papers. Of course, these were no ordinary workers. A few had horns sticking out of their skulls, while others had wings. Some were not humans at all, but robots. A lone Blaziken was pounding on a keyboard, angrily attempting to type, to no avail, with its stubby talons. Eravius paid no attention, scrambling to a door on the far left wall of the long hall. He walked through the glass door, and into a conference room. A man stood on the far end, his black hair matching his sunglasses and vest. Stubble covered his chin, and a twinkle in his eye showed that he was quite happy at the moment. "Ah, Agent Nero! Welcome! We've got a new mission for you." Eravius suddenly became enraged.

"I nearly fall a thousand feet to my death off an icy cliff, defeat an entire army of the living dead, and save the damn world for the thousandth time, and all you give me in return is another bloody assignment!?"

"Listen up! Let's say you drink too much strawberry milk and have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. But it's cold outside your bed. You don't want to get up, but the urge to urinate is just too strong! You make up your mind to go! You run to the bathroom, stand in front of the toilet, and let loose! You think that all your life has led to this moment! But then you realize! It isn't the bathroom! You're still in bed! That feeling of lukewarm wetness spreads like wildfire! But you don't stop! You can't stop! That's what I'm talking about! That's the truth of the strawberry milk! Do you get it?!"
