The plane ride had been hectic. Jaejin had never been a fan of cramped spaces, and he had spent the majority of the time catching up on as much sleep as he could. He knew once the mission started that sleep would be limited. The worst part of the trip had been the switch in Moscow. He didn’t speak Russian, so his language skills were incredibly limited. He had been to Moscow airport before on a previous mission, so he did have basic knowledge of how to find his way around. It had taken him about fifteen minutes to finally find his connecting flight, and then an hour long wait before actual boarding began. Then another short flight before he landed in Samara. Now, tired and somewhat jetlagged, Jaejin left the plane with his carryon in tow. He felt somewhat dirty, as he had been on a plane without showering for quite some time. Normally he would have changed into a different set of clothes by now, and he was itching to do so. Unfortunately, that would have to wait until he got through customs. Naturally, he was used to airport systems. He had been to several different continents and countries over the span of his mission career. That didn’t mean that he liked it. Formalities such as these were more annoying than anything else. It took him nearly an hour to get through everything before Jaejin finally felt like he could breathe. Now in the main area of the airport, Jaejin’s first quest was to find something to snack on. He was starving and for such a short and insignificant mission, SPHERE had issued him no food packs. He didn’t much mind. Instead of dealing with vendors, Jaejin immediately went to a vending machine. There he purchased a bottle of water and a Nutri-grain bar from the lineup of snacks. Most of the snacks were candy or salty chips of some sort, thoroughly unappetizing and unappealing. Jaejin knew a grain bar wouldn’t hold him for long, but it was enough to curb his hunger until he got out into the streets, situated and knew where a good restaurant was. After he consumed the bar (with two bites) the male downed his whole water bottle and discarded them in the trash. He then dropped down onto a nearby bench and withdrew the cell phone he had been issued. It was a nice cell phone; not too fancy (mission phones never were) but it was constantly linked to SPHERE. He knew they could track him with just the touch of a button, which mentally bothered him to some extent. Jaejin loved to text rather than to call, so he was exceptionally good at typing on small phones. However, he did not need an extensive message to announce his arrival. Instead, he simply typed “Destination Reached,” and sent it off back to SPHERE. Then, with a stretch, Jaejin nestled against the back of his chair and let his head flop backwards. He closed his eyes and stifled a yawn. The quicker he could get this mission over with, the better, |

Jaejin’s head shot back up from its position the moment he felt his phone vibrate. He shifted forward and pressed a button to view the text message. As always, it was brief and relatively concise. SPHERE always provided very little information when it came to missions. It was almost always the BoP’s duty to gather the details they would need in order to effectively carry out the mission. SPHERE was just set up to create BoP’s to carry out the missions. They weren’t in charge of actually doing anything for the missions. Then again, if the BoP didn’t have to gather any information, then what would be the use of the mission? Jaejin would grow incredibly bored if he was given an address, told to go there and shoot someone, and then returned. There was no fun in that. The male placed a hand over his mouth as he yawned again and stood. He snatched up his bag and threw it over his shoulder, stretching as he did so. Jaejin figured he would make it to his hotel before he started to do anything else. That way he could relax a bit before he actually had to complete the mission. Jaejin was all about relaxation, especially after a long plane ride. The male needed a good shower, some clean clothes, maybe a bit of alcohol. A smirk grew on his lips as he contemplated delaying the mission for a day and going out to party. Unfortunately, he dismissed the thought. It would be better to get work done and then play. That way SPHERE couldn’t bitch too much. After all, they would know his movements throughout the entire trip. He decided to walk to the hotel. It would do him good to get some fresh air and to stretch his legs. Russia was an interesting place to come to, but definitely not one of the spots Jaejin would choose for a vacation. If he could choose, he would of course go to Korea. He wanted to retire there (if SPHERE allowed retirement- he was unsure of their policies in that area). However, until that time came, he would have to settle for a vacation there, and unfortunately, vacation could only come once he was a rank one. If he wanted to go now he would have to ask Hawk to take him, and that was the last thing he wanted to do. The hotel wasn’t too far away so he got there, checked in and headed up to his room. The room was relatively plain (there was no necessity for anything fancy). A large case had been left for him – standard rifle equipment. It was the same routine he was used to; Jaejin had been on a lot of assassination missions, most likely more than any other BoP in SPHERE. Even Hawk, who had more missions completed than him, had fewer assassinations under her belt. She preferred close combat missions. Jaejin disrobed and slipped into the shower. It felt refreshing to get rid of all the airplane residue he felt sunk into his skin. Once he was done he stepped out and donned some fresh clothes. Stretching, Jaejin stifled a yawn and dropped down onto the bed. He withdrew the laptop he had been issued from his bag and propped it open. Once loaded it immediately connected to the wireless SPHERE had set up for access everywhere. Before actually proceeding to the first part of the mission, Jaejin checked his email. There was another message from Keita, from a few days ago (Jaejin hardly checked his mail) bitching at him for leaving a dirty towel on the rack in their bathroom. Jaejin rolled his eyes and ran a hand through his damp hair. He clicked out of his email, cracked his fingers and got down to business. The first thing he had to do was look up the names of the hotels around the area. Once he had the five major hotels stationed near him, it didn’t take him long to start hacking into their databases. He started with the largest and worked his way down. It wasn’t until the fourth hotel that he actually found his target. The businessman was staying in a low-grade hotel room, which definitely noted his lack of superiority. Jaejin wondered briefly who had enough money to request this man killed via SPHERE. Jaejin knew SPHERE charged quite a bit for assassination. This man must have done something that pissed someone off horribly. Once Jaejin secured room number and so forth, he shut his laptop and tossed it to the side. The lanky male flopped back into the bed and closed his eyes. There was no necessity to inform SPHERE of his discovery. Jaejin was on his own now, and he had decided that after a quick nap he would get to it. |

With a yawn, Jaejin awoke from his nap and stretched. He shot a look at the clock nearby and realized that he had slept a bit longer than he had originally intended. He sighed and slowly shifted upward, slipping his legs off the bed. Jaejin figured he might as well finish the mission that night so he could get back to SPHERE quickly. He was on a mission of his own: to complete as many missions as quickly as possible in order to advance to rank one. In order to do that, he had to get away from his innate laziness and start working a bit faster. In the back of his mind he could already hear Hawk criticizing him for sleeping instead of just getting the mission over immediately. But damn, he was tired from a long flight. He was incapable of her whole adrenaline capabilities, so he couldn’t give himself an energy boost when he needed it. With a sigh, Jaejin ran a hand through his now-dry black hair and slipped off the bed. He briefly bent down into a squatting position and shifted back up, stretching his leg muscles. It was already dark outside, which was good and bad. While it decreased visibility a tad (though his eyes were refined enough to get past the darkness), it also meant that the man he was to assassinate would be more likely to be in his hotel room. Then again, Jaejin didn’t know much about this man, so he couldn’t say for sure. It didn’t matter. No matter how long he would have to wait, Jaejin would get the job done. The first thing he needed to do was get to the top of the building next to the hotel his target was staying in. Jaejin had been lucky this time- his target was staying on a relatively low floor, which meant that he needn’t set up on the top of a tall, secured building in order to set up. After repacking his laptop into his backpack, and folding everything neatly, Jaejin threw the backpack over his one shoulder and picked up the black case via its handle. It was relatively light (to him). He should have checked it already, but Jaejin knew everything was in order, as it should have been. He proceeded to make his way out of the room, aware of the security cameras in the hall (he was always wary of them, even if he needn’t be). Thus, he kept his face directed away from the camera. His caution most likely wouldn’t be needed. He wouldn’t be shooting from that hotel anyways. He checked out at the front desk, making sure to thank the hotel staff gracefully in English. A small part of him wished he concentrated on languages a bit more and learned more than what he knew. Then again, he had better things to do with his time, and he never stayed in countries for too long; so there was never any real necessity for excessive language knowledge. It was just useful. From there he headed to the hotel his target was staying at. It wasn’t a huge hotel, but it was a nice one. He assessed the surrounding location, including the buildings nearby. He had to pick one on the same level as his target, and one that would be relatively easy to get to the top without being noticed too much. Jaejin couldn’t help but smile a bit. Fortune was definitely smiling on him. The most perfect building was nearby- the exact level that he needed, and it was already shut down for the night. Now all he had to do was get to the top. Jaejin shifted from foot to foot before he began to trek around the building. He cocked his head and glanced to the building next to the one he was surveying. There was a fire-escape ladder on the building that led to the topmost window. Jaejin bit his lower lip before he made the snap decision he needed and hopped onto the ladder. He quickly made his way to the top of the ladder, careful not too make any sound. He then glanced up towards the rooftop. It was about eight feet above his head and thankfully had no protruding ledge. Thus, he shifted the case he was carrying above his head and gave a gently jump. At the peak of his jump he managed to place the case on the ledge before he fell back down, quite softer sounding than one would expect. From there he jumped again, grabbed the side and hoisted himself up within seconds. He made sure to keep himself relatively low and unseen. The last thing he needed was some witness the next day spouting about a man jumping on buildings. Of course, Jaejin still had to get to the next building. The one he was on did not present the best position in order to carry out his mission. So, with a quick check, Jaejin mentally calculated the distance between the buildings. It would be an easy jump, even with the case in tow. So, he glanced down below to check how many people were out and about, and once he deemed it safe, he took the jump. Jaejin landed in a neatly crouch and dropped down immediately. A small smile curled onto his lips. There. The hard part was done. He was where he needed to bed. Jaejin proceeded to situate himself near the ledge that faced the target’s room. He propped open the case and began to assembled the gun. It only took him a few seconds- Jaejin was pro at this kind of stuff. He took weapon design and knowledge to the extremes, alongside his desire to learn more about combat. The only skills he didn’t care much for were technical skills. But then again, he still perfected what needed to be perfected. Jaejin was a well rounded BoP. He needed to be, in order to be successful for his missions. Once he had assembled the gun he set it up in a manner that made it relatively hard to see. He was glad for the night cover (though the surrounding lights did prove to destroy some of the darkness), as it made it a bit harder to see that he was there. Jaejin zeroed in on his targets location. Agitation arose as he realized that the room was dark; his target was not currently in his hotel room. Of course, this meant Jaejin would need to wait longer than he had originally intended. Jaejin didn’t mind waiting, but he had liked the prospect of finishing his mission early. He wanted to at least have a few drinks before he headed back to SPHERE, where alcohol was prohibited. He had even thought about hitting a club that night. Jaejin sighed softly. Hopefully his target would be there soon. Jaejin hoped that he wasn’t the party type that stayed out all night; he didn’t know if he would have the patience for that. Shifting his legs beneath him, the BoP nestled down for the wait. He kept his eyes constantly trained on his target’s hotel window, despite the obvious lack of activity. He would know the moment his target returned. |

Jaejin was inwardly thankful for his internal clock. He had always been able to tell the time mentally, without the aide of a watch or clock. Because of this, he could time things perfectly. This not only made missions easier, but he could perfectly time lessons, sleep time, and so forth. He was even able to set internal alarm clocks (although they weren’t always correct in the time they woke him). At the moment, he was thankful for his ability because it allowed him to calculate the time without looking from his position. He could keep his eyes trained on the hotel room and still know how much time had passed. However, since he was still a bit messed up from jet lag and the time zone change, he couldn’t exactly tell what time it was at the moment in Russia. He momentarily wished he had glanced at a clock before he had made his way to the top of the building he was resting on. Perhaps then he would know the time, so he would have an idea as to how soon his target would be returning. At the moment, thirty minutes had passed without any show of his target. The room was still as dark as it had been before. The thought that his target could have been sleeping briefly crossed his mind, but Jaejin crossed it off his list of possible reasons. He had arrived at the airport early in the morning (very early) and he knew he hadn’t slept too long. Thus, it wasn’t exactly time for bed yet. Then again, his target could be napping, or be an incredibly early sleeper. Jaejin mentally smacked himself for not taking better care of this mission. He had already made the mistake of not researching his target a bit more (in his hurry to get the mission done) and it had caused him to be unsure about the current situation. Oh well. It didn’t matter now. If Jaejin had to wait till morning, he would. However, waiting for a long time increased the possibility of him being seen. So, if he could get this mission done within the next few hours…he would bee incredibly happy. Another fifteen minutes passed in silence, save for the distinct grumbling of his stomach. Jaejin hadn’t exactly eaten a decent meal in quite a long time, and he was starving. After he was done here, the first thing he was going to do is hit up a restaurant for some food and a drink. Then maybe he’d hit a late night club. Jaejin had always found foreign girls cute, and here was no exception. Sadly, the male was slightly shallow and preferred the pretty ones over personality. His tastes included the tastes all men naturally held- big breasts, cute butt, long legs, skinny; etc. SPHERE had several BoP females that fit that description, but it was nice to get some fresh scenery every now and then. Despite the fact that Jaejin had his heart set on Hawk, he still liked to look, especially since it was clear Hawk didn’t return his feelings. While Jaejin knew he would most likely never hook up with anyone inside SPHERE or outside of SPHERE, he liked to play the field while he could. As Jaejin continued to gaze through the scope on his gun, the male gnawed thoughtfully on his lip as his thoughts zeroed in on Hawk. The last he knew she had failed to pick up on any of the missions that had been offered, which was somewhat odd to him. Usually Hawk never failed to take any missions that had not been taken. He knew she thoroughly hated to see missions go unfilled. However, since their last mission together, Hawk had been slacking in her duties. He couldn’t blame her. He had been the same way. For a month afterwards, Jaejin had kept almost entirely to his room (which is mostly the reason why Keita had developed a habit for sleeping in Hawk’s room. It was also the reason why he had not advanced to rank one again. The last mission he and Hawk had done together was a large mission, a mission that had cost them a lot of points when they failed it. Their failure was entirely Hawk’s fault, and he could admit that openly. Because she had failed to maintain SPHERE protocol, because she had broken some of the most sacred rules…BlackEagle had been forced to contact SPHERE regarding the dangerous nature of their mission and Hawk’s unstable condition. At the time he had been so fueled by his emotions that he hadn’t stopped to think of the consequences of his actions. He had not informed SPHERE of what had gone on, he and Hawk wouldn’t have been so severely punished. Had he not informed SPHERE of Hawk’s misconduct, she wouldn’t hate him as much as she did now. It severely hurt him every time he saw her, and he regretted his actions more than anything else. Then again, he also hated Hawk for what she had did, and her past actions still fueled his anger even now- a jealousy ridden anger. Ever since that failed mission, Jaejin and Hawk hadn’t talked normally. Every time they met each other in the hallway they just stepped by as quickly as possible and ignored each other. Occasionally they broke out into verbal fights, though Hawk was never one to scream too much and always ended the fight in a way that made it appear as if she had won. Even thinking about her now, thinking about what she did, brought a sneer to his lips. If he hadn’t loved her then, if he still didn’t love her now, her actions would not have affected him so. He wouldn’t have cared so much. But now…Ah! The light in the hotel room had switched on, immediately snapping Jaejin’s attention back to the present. As he peered into his scope he caught sight of his target pulling off his jacket and tossing it onto a nearby chair. He appeared as if he had been drinking, as there was a slight sway to his step. Jaejin shifted his legs a bit to get into a better position, his hands coming up to grip his gun with ease. He adjusted the aim, taking care to target the most vulnerable spot on his target; the head. Jaejin didn’t want to have to shoot more than once. After he took into account the angle of the gun, the distance the bullet had to travel, the current state of the window, and the effects of gravity, Jaejin made sure he was positioned properly before he fired. It was an anti-climatic type of shooting. His target wasn’t moving too fast, so keeping a lock on his head wasn’t hard. Unfortunately, Jaejin knew the glass would shatter upon impact of the bullet, which meant that someone nearby might hear it. Jaejin would have to make a quick escape, but he didn’t mind. This mission had almost been too easy. The lack of interesting things to do had led him to think about the unpleasant past. Now he really needed that drink. Better yet, make that two drinks. |

Jaejin’s bullet met his targets head. Through the scope, Jaejin was able to see the result in almost slow motion. The man was set off balance due to the gun shot, and effectively fell to the ground. He was most likely dead before he knew it. Lucky for him. If Jaejin could choose a way to die, death by gunshot to the head would be preferred. It was quick and painless. Once he was assured that the target was dead, Jaejin began to pack up the gun quickly. He did it all within a minute, and moments later he dropped down off the side of the building and hit the ground with ease. His pain resistance kept his from feeling the strain the landing did on his body, but it was definitely not a jump he should keep repeating. However, it did save him quite a bit of time, and he was capable of vacating the area only minutes after his shot. From there he started walking. Jaejin’s next basic mission was to set his gun up for pickup. He started the long walk to a hotel quite far away. It was a small hotel, relatively unoccupied and quiet. It took him a while to get there, as Jaejin always avoided cabs and buses as to make sure that less people saw his face. Jaejin rented a room and headed inside. He then proceeded to change clothes (he had sat around on a dirty roof in his other pair of clothes, and those clothes also weren’t suited for a night on the town). Thoroughly starving, Jaejin had to mentally quiet his stomach as he adjusted his hair. He then slipped the gun under the bed, collected all of his things and pulled out the cell phone he had been given. He typed and sent a text message to SPHERE detailing the whereabouts of the gun, and the fact that the mission had been completed successfully…Well, for the moment. SPHERE never considered missions successful until a BoP returned to the base. Until they did, there was always a chance of capture, which led to failure. They had yet to actually ever have a BoP arrested (BoP’s were notoriously hard to keep in cgaes), but there had been a few rookie BoP that had been spotted by the police and pursued. Jaejin tucked the cell phone into his pocket and grabbed his backpack. He decided he would hit a restaurant and then probably a club and then head on home. So, with a smirk on his face, Jaejin checked his hair once more in the mirror before he headed out. It was the next day before he came to the airport. Jaejin had had quite the night. After gorging himself on the spiciest food he could find (though it had been a bit hard to order since he didn’t know the language), Jaejin had hit up a nearby club for a few drinks. He had danced quite a bit with some resident ladies, picked up a buzz, and basically enjoyed himself in ways he couldn’t back at SPHERE. Now, with a smile on his face, Jaejin headed for his returning flight’s gate. While he didn’t really want to head back yet, he knew he had to. He was most likely going to head back to pick up yet another mission. Hopefully he could get one that was located somewhere he actually wanted to go. Jaejin fought back exhaustion as he flopped down into his seat on the plane. He was nestled near the window, which was a bit cramped, but fine. He would have to connect to another flight in about an hour after this one landed, and that flight had an aisle seat, which would give him a bit more room. However, it was likely he wouldn’t be able to sleep as well (Jaejin was a light sleeper). His first flight was uneventful. Sadly, his connecting flight was a bit late so he had to wait for a while before he could board. He used that time to eat a hearty breakfast (from what he could find) and to run over a few things on his laptop. After fighting back sleep, Jaejin was finally able to close his eyes for good once he got onto his next flight. He couldn’t fall asleep until the flight had actually taken off, but once it did, he drifted off with ease. Despite his inability to sleep in noisy environments, Jaejin was lucky that the passengers of his plane were relatively quiet. Thus, he was able to sleep for the entire flight. In fact, the flight attendant had to wake him to inform him that they had landed and he needed to get out. Now, fully rested, yet once again hungry, Jaejin decided to head for another restaurant before he went back to SPHERE. His return could wait a bit longer. |
