Welcome!

Uh, hi. This is a skintest board for HS, or, well, Mauro, who doesn't really make skins but is basically the only person who remembers this place. >.>

Fantastic!
It's the newest feature on HS. Woohoo, be excited.

Instrument becomes a part of the character sheet. You can fill it in with Voice, or even with None (or N/A). Anyway, you get to choose your own instrument when creating your character. If you have one (if you didn't fill in None), you can start getting the songs. How? Master Quest re-runs of Hyrule and Termina temples. On a side note, songs will also be listed on your character sheet. Be sure to edit both fields in where they belong (check the CS topic for that).

After completing a temple once, you may opt to do it again on Master Quest difficulty. This yields rupees and ranks, the amount multiplied by 1,5. Not only that, but it also yields a special song. The Forest Temple would have the Minuet of Forest as a reward, the Water Temple would have the Serenade of Water, and so on. The Prelude of Light would be obtained after clearing the Temple of Time in Future Hyrule twice.

The songs earned in Termina are earned in their logical places as well, save for the Song of Storms, which is earned by completing the Stone Tower Temple twice (the Elegy of Emptiness is already earned in Ikana Castle, after all).

Epona's Song is a song that everyone starts out with. It can be used to call your pet or mount to you.

All of these songs are in their fifteen-second length, much like when Link plays them.

Now then, what the songs do:

Minuet of Forest: Causes plants to grow. The more you play the song, the more plants will appear, and the more they will grow. Playing it once in your average field will yield a small tree, playing it ten times would make it seem like you're standing in a Kokiri Forest. The plants summoned do adapt to your enviroment: playing this song in the Gerudo Desert would mainly grow cacti and perhaps palm trees, playing it on Death Mountain would give you overgrown lichen. The Southern Swamp yields swamp plants, Snowpeak will spawn conifers. You probably get the picture. Note that once you get too far away from the summoned trees, they will vanish.

Bolero of Fire: Playing this song sets the nearest flammable object on fire. If the object is highly flammable, it will ignite sooner. In other words, you'll have to play the song multiple times in succession if the flammability of the object is low. If the object is highly flammable, it'll combust during your first play. If an object is nearly non-flammable, you'll have to play the song at least five times.

Serenade of Water: Makes the object of choice soaked, plain and simple. You'll always have to play the entire song, never longer, never shorter. This can be used on literally anything solid, including floors, monsters, and even other people.

Nocturne of Shadow: Like the Serenade of Water, this song only requires one play to take effect. After it is played (it's about fifteen seconds long), you'll be surrounded by a sphere (or rather, half a sphere, assuming that you stand on the ground). This sphere lets light through from the outside, but not from the inside. In other words, you can see what happens from inside the sphere, but to the outside, it'll seem like a big ball of solid shadow. The sphere has a radius of five meters, and anything will pass through it.

Requim of Spirit: Again, you only need to play it once. This will gradually fill you, and any ally, with energy. After the song has been completely played, your energy will be the same as it would be after a long rest. Playing this constantly will keep the energy at that level, which is highly useful during fights and such.

Prelude of Light: Creates a shining light above your head for as long as you keep playing the song. This light has the potential to blind anyone who even glances in its direction. Because it's above you, you're unaffected as long as you don't look up.

Sonata of Awakening: Summons five Stalchildren who will follow the user's command. These stick around until defeated. It can also be used to awaken sleeping creatures.

Goron Lullaby: Calms down an enraged enemy and cancels out "buffing" spells and the like. On enemies that are already calm, this will make them drowsy, and potentially makes them fall asleep.

New Wave Bossa Nova: When used on a Sorcerer, this temporarily changes any spell into a key spell (as long as it meets the Key Spell rules). If used on a Warrior or Agility, this will temporarily remove the ten-second limit for using consecutive abilities. On an Elementalist, this will multiply their summoning capabilities by two, making them summon an element twice as fast. Finally, on an Alchemist, this cuts the requirements for new potions in half. Newly created classes may specify what this song does for them.

Song of Storms: Prevents and cancels any trapping or cursing spells, the same way it cancels a Blue Bubble curse in MM. It also causes a storm, and makes a Gasha Seed instantly grow.

The first three songs all spawn an element, corresponding with what used to be the three Basic Alchemies. What is spawned can be used by any Elementalist with the proper abilities, even an opponent. The Foreign Objects rule will never apply to these summoned elements when they are not controlled, unless somebody uses the Contamination skill.

It may seem like playing a song for fifteen seconds (or longer) would be difficult in a battle. It is. These songs are probably best used in groups, or when you somehow keep your opponent from attacking.

And I would like to stress once more that the Master Quest re-runs are truly difficult... So make it difficult for yourself when you do them.
