DARTMOUTH BIG GREEN JUST COME UP SHORT In the first half, it looked like the Big Green were going to get blown out after the Bulldogs went on a 17-0 run despite the the 15-10 lead Dartmouth had. During halftime, yelling could be heard from the Dartmouth Locker room as Kim was berating his team with the lack of effort on defense on Pettyjohn and Hicks. Shooting guard Beauford was recieving his fair share of criticism for not passing the ball and instead chucking up three after three after three. In the second half, Hicks and Pettyjohn still couldn't be shut down and the help from Bench players like Bachman made the score 45-32. After a timeout Tchana and McGrain began to contribute more and the Big Green went on a 13-0 scoring run that mostly happened due to Hicks turnovers. However, Butch would hit the clutch shot with just 12.2 seconds remaining, making the score 47-45. Foust would have the game tying lay up blocked by Baldwin. To the surprise and anger at many, Kirkland would dash down the court just to hit a uncontested three-pointer. it is reported that the coach berated him for not being sportsmanlike. the Big Green start off the season (0-1) and will face the Air Force Falcons next in the Hangar Challenge.

FALCONS STRUGGLE IN SECOND HALF ALLOWS DARTMOUTH TO ADVANCE IN THE HANGAR CHALLENGE![]() Is Beauford a ball hog? That's what we could see from tonight's game when the Dartmouth Big Green (1-1) defeated the Air Force Falcons 37-24. In the first half, Beauford scored all of Dartmouth's points (7-7 from the field and 2-2 from beyond the arc). Despite his strong shooting, it was plain that Coach Kim was glaring at Beauford for not passing the rock. However, it was obvious in the first half that Dartmouth was not playing as a team. With one player scoring all the points, none of the players seemed to be able to defend the Falcons soaring perfect shooting percentage from the field. when the Falcons surged late in the first half to take the lead by one, Kim's frustration was plain on his face. In the half time interview, we asked Coach Kim what he wanted his team to do to bring the casual smile that he always seemed to wear back during his tenure as Kentucky's head coach. Between gritted teeth, he said, "Defense. The kids aren't playing any defense and it could affect the way the game's outcome comes out as. We don't want a 0-2 start in the season especially in the Ivy League where the overall record is important in the case of a tie in the conference since we don't have playoffs here. Not only that, I want Beauford to pass the ball more. I appreciate the fact that he's a good shooter but he's got to pass the rock. I mean, I saw Tchana wide open a bunch of times but Beauford would just try to play the hero moment." It was obvious that Coach said stuff to fix things in the locker room as in the second half, the Big Green held the falcons to just a mere 6 points. McGrain had 2 big blocks in the very beginning of the second half. Beauford kept on shooting the ball only this time, he was ice cold and couldn't add to his 17 points. He only had 2 assists. Eventually, Kim pulled him out and the effect was immediately seen. Everyone on the team contributed to 20 points without the shooting guard's presence. After the game, Tchana from the Big Green said, "Beauford is a good player. Don't get me wrong. Without him, we would lose because he's the closest thing we have to a star on the team but I wish he would ****ing pass the ball more. I mean I want to contribute and he didn't even really pass. It counts to his assist stats but in reality those two times, it looked like he just lost control of the ball rather than an actual pass." The Dartmouth Big Green will take on VMI (2-0) next in the Hangar Challenge. ![]()

BIG GREEN TOO MUCH FOR KEYDETS The Big Green are now 2-1 after blowing past the Keydets, 61-53 in the Finals of the Hangar Challenge. The Big Green started the game 8-0 and didn't look behind as they took off for the rest of the game. Dartmouth's star shooting guard struggled from the field today but today, everyone on the team helped out. Tchana scored 16 points, his highest ever since becoming a Big Green. Meanwhile, all the other starters were close to scoring double digit numbers. Despite the shooting guards shooting problems, Beauford made it up in other ways as shown with his impressive 6 steals, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. After the game, Beauford said, "I felt great helping out the team in other ways besides scoring. Me and Tchana talked after the Falcons game about the problem I have of not passing and playing team ball so I tried to work on it." When asked about his shooting problem, the shooting guard replied, "I don't know why but my shots just weren't falling. I mean... I was wide open a few times and the shot was just too short. I don't know but I know that I'm going to be working on my shot when we get back home. I was ice-cold all day long." Kim [on his shooting guard's shooting problems] said "Well it's something we need to work on but I'm not going to berate him like I did after the Air Force game. Today, his shot selection was great but just weren't falling in. It was great to see Tchana step up. I think that Dartmouth's stars as of now are Tchana and Beauford. In games like these when both work together, the result is just amazing." Someone from the back asked, "Coach! What about McGrain, Mouton, and McLeod? We have heard rumors that they are called M3 by the other Ivy League schools. What about their contribution?" Kim replied, "Well... McLeod was great but he has to work on playing as a point and not shooting especially because he's not a good shooter. All his points came from layups. Meanwhile, Mouton and McGrain have potential. I mean the two had 17 boards together but the biggest problem I see is the Turnovers for the two. McGrain makes it up with his blocking ability but Mouton tends to get excited and tries to dribble around too much resulting in the turns. They have potential though." The Dartmouth Big Green are 2-1 and will face James Madison (0-0) next. James Madison is the favored team as they are a better shooting team than the Big Green. ![]()
