...And that is why I dumped Madden today. I went to play a game this morning and got ultra bored, so I traded in the stupid thing. Had enough for the year. So, I picked up NHL 10 while at gamestop. From the reviews and comments I have read, looks like fun times ahead for me. I dunno, football video gaming got really old all of a sudden. Will I regret my decsion? Only if the new patch turns into a "second coming of greatness" Me thinks that will not happen. I rolled the dice and it's a done deal now. BTW Dawdler-I had enough credit already at Gamestop to pick up FIFA 10 used today-quick impressions later in the soccer forum

very nice DC on the way home I was thinking when should I dump Madden, if the patch doesn't get here before December 1st or when DC trades it in, now I know my solution.I haven't bought NHL 10 because I felt it was NHL 9.5 like many believe FIFA is. I await your impressions on both games

I was really going to wait for the next patch too-But why continue to play something that really doesn't hold your interest anymore? I don't want to wait around for something that is probably just a band aid rather than a curing patch. Except for Rugby 08, I really had no sports games to play that I couldn't wait to play when I got home from work. So a change was due. Plus, the longer you wait to get arid of Madden, the less you'll get for it. Football is over half done, and I am now Edited by DC, Nov 14 2009, 06:24 AM.

Reflecting on Madden 10...Even though I no longer have Madden this year, I had some good times with it. It was sooo close to being a fantastic game this year. With the b/cam-A good call of penalties/the "halftime show" (I can see that improving) and a more lively sideline with decent audience reactions. The pro tak system is good and I see that getting better also. Madden 10 is taking bigger leaps and strides then NCAA IMO. The NCAA franchise has reached a point for me that it will not get better until they do some dedicated work in the off season .They really need to get off their asses and put some real college spirit into it. I thought NCAA wasn't bad this year-It just fell on it's face in many ways-especially in presentation and very little added features. It was NCAA 09.1 and not worth a $60 entry fee. The actual gameplay was not horrible. I liked the running game alot. They deserve kudos points for that It is also quite possible that the boredom factor with Madden is my fault to some extent. I played the crap out of it but spent way too much time tweaking it, and starting over on the season. Any slider tweak over a few points was quite capable of throwing the whole balance of the game off to a point of endless frustration Using my skill helped alot, still there is work to be done EA. When they make the game more like what you see on tv(especially in the presentation dept.), I might play it well into January every year. My big gripes with Madden this time was the camera angles-b/c was good but a little too far away for these old eyes. I couldn't really enjoy the retro jerseys from that far off. Improving b/c: Zoom in more and put in some passing windows like they did many years ago. The zoom angle was alright but felt "boxed in". The standard cam was ho hum(same ole same ole) and the wide camera was useless to me. Here's another idea-Give us a custom cam that could be rotated and or zoomed to any angle. Also,Too bad they didn't have the player lock cam like NCAA did-that was the best feature on that game. I know some didn't like that, but it really shouldn't have been a big deal to just add it in as a option. All said and done-Madden 10 made serious progress this year. It could be a light at the end of the tunnel for Ian and crew. My biggest concerns at this point is-How much more can they do with this old game engine? And, how much more immersive they make the presentation without the gameplay suffering due to time spent on bells and whistles? Again, thanks for the few months of fun Madden-In a way I will miss the game-Only because I am passionate about football, maybe too much-Meaning I could have expected too much from a video game. I didn't hate Madden this year-I think they overhype it every year ,putting it on an imagineary pedestal with features that don't quite live up to what was advertised. One more thought-They are taking longer in putting a second patch together than it would take a snowstorm to find sunny Southern California . Will I be back next year, in hope that they will step it up? Of course. I love football too much to pass on it.......Anyone else care to comment on this subject on where Madden should step it up next time? Edited by DC, Nov 16 2009, 06:39 AM.

Camera angles! Yes!! The standard camera was too low and zoomed/panned too much. The zoomed camera was too close for passing and wide was too far for running. This has a huge impact on my enjoyment. I may have to just suck it up next year but I don't want to have to. |
