Very slow does play harder and it is alot harder to win on that speed, even with a great team vs a team that shouldn't be able to even get close to you. Slow does change the game and makes it too easy to win I played a game where I switched from slow to to very slow on each drive. I scored on each drive on slow and got stopped or picked off on very slow. Why should the gamespeed be that much of a factor? Too many "EA-isms" in this game mess up the sliders-Shame on you EA for messing with things that work.Might be going back to college football llike I did last year if things don't shape up soon. I want to see B/C and what the patch does. Last chance EA, hope you don't drop the ball, because your new football game is worth $40 on trade in right now Maybe I'll join Ted's hockey league later. The suction blocking is ridiculous. I had a situation where the opposing quarterback ran to his right of the tackles and ended up behind my defensive end. Well, wouldn't you know that my DE was fighting a block with the lineman IN FRONT OF HIM. It made no sense. The man with the football is right behind you and you're fighting with someone in the opposite direction? I couldn't understand it. The passing game is much much better. I say that seriously. I used to have problems getting the CPU to make over 60% of their passes (like a real NFL QB), but that's no longer an issue. Guys have real completion percentages and you don't get a bunch of 80 yard passes in the process. The running game still needs work. Like I said, the defensive line is way too strong on the rush. They react too quickly and get to the rusher too quickly. It creates situations that affect a lot of outcomes. It lowers tackles for linebackers because the play is dead before they can get to the rusher. It lowers YPC because rushers can't break the line before being tackled. And it also makes the screen way too effective because the defensive line pushes down too quickly, forcing the linebackers to come in and give too much space to the screening receiver. |

Yep,I've still got 2k5...and was playing it before M10 came out. I know the game wasn't perfect, but damn if it didn't nail alot of the "nuances" that Madden has YET to incorporate. It's nice that 2k5 didn't rely on suction technology to replicate ol/dl interaction, and that when using a lb,you could actually break out of the block in an attempt to sack the qb....you weren't "stuck" to the o-lineman. Another cool thing that seems to go unnoticed.....is the 3-5-or 7 step drop. I really don't see how people were/are saying that 2k5 was overrated,in comparison to Madden and the "details" (imo) there are no comparisons. Madden STILL lacks in alot of areas that were implemented 5 years ago...sad really. I think the problem I have with hockey games,is that I can't name 1 single person in the game .....and for me this is big,as I don't feel the "connection" with the guys. Also,I have no understanding of the rules and such...so this would make it hard for me to enjoy as well. When the demo becomes free for silver members,I will d-load it though....but as I mentioned above, having the disconnect form the players and such,I don't feel that I would get my money's worth out of the game. If I don't pick up Batman,I will probably wait till Forza 3 drops. |

MM, with any sport we have to start somewhere, I'm sure you didn't know all the Steelers players right from the get go, you just have to give it a chance. I think the NFL has more complicated rules than the NHL and I'm sure Ted or I can give you the jist of the rules, its just about being open to a new sport and whatever you do don't listen to Rudy

The difference for me though,is that I've been a Steeler fan for 30+ years,so when it came down to video game form,I had no problems at all knowing any of the players. Hell, before there were any names in football games,I use to pretend they were the Steelers. I never really got into the sport of hockey though....I can probably count on 1 hand how many games I've watched on tv,and this is including the "miracle" of the 1980 Olympic games. I have been to 2 games in person, and it was much better than watching it on tv,however it goes back (for me) to recognition of the players. I tried to play nhl 2k5,and just didn't enjoy it....I will however give the demo a go for nhl10. Don't worry...I'll take your advice and not listen to Rudy .....
