What I think it s**tty is that 2k Football would get great reviews based on being more of a SIM and Madden would get knocked for being more Arcadey. And the reviewers would say that. Now with Madden 10 trying to be move in a more Sim direction you get the reviewers that can't play the same ole huck'n'chuck Madden and now have to treat parts of the game more like a Sim. If they think it's to hard put the game on Rookie. At least the only half assed review of the game I've seen is from Gamespot.com. I think it's an 8 overall, but easily the best Madden "next gen" game that's been put out. And I thought that Madden 09 was a nice improvement over 07-08. 10 is by far a nice jump forward moving the game back more to the Sim feeling. Peter Moore wanted their sports game to start being more like the old mantra "if it's in the game, it's in the game." And that it will take some time for people to adjust. Authenticy is where it's at. If all EA gave us was a sim people would learn to like it and still buy the game in droves. |

Had a lot of fun tonight. Lost a close preseason game to the Jets on a punt return TD with under 2 minutes to play. I drove down to the Jets' 10 yard line but my 4th down pass was incomplete in the end zone. Then started my regular season against the Seahawks and just beat the crap out of them, 41-10. I played a field position game and was able to establish the run. Jackson had 127 yds. rushing and averaged 5 yds a carry. Bulger threw 3 TD passes and 2 INTs. Hassleback threw 4 picks for Seattle, 2 each to Ron Bartell and to Will Whitherspoon. The first Bartell one was as Hassleback was being hit and the ball fluttered into the air. Bartell returned it for 6. The second Bartell pick was of my own doing; I read the play perfectly and beat the receiver to the spot where Hassleback threw. 4 is a lot of picks though and I hope it's not a trend. The other problem is that even with the CPU run blocking set to 80, they still cannot muster much of a running attack. Something's gotta give here. I should be able to figure something out with some more tweaking. I sacked the QB 4 times, which is a nice number. I myself was sacked 4 or 5 times as well. Each QB was under pressure much of the game. The thing about sacking the CPU is that it still takes a long time to get to him; he just holds the ball forever it seems. I am playing on 15 minute quarters with the accelerated clock and a 25 second countdown. Takes a little linger than I would like. I think I may try 14 minute quarter next and see how that goes. One more small complaint: no way to mass sub. So when you are playing a preseason game, it is a pain in the ass. They eventually put in your seconds stringers, but a lot of starters still stay in. Wish they could address this. Overall great fun. I went to normal speed for a while but ended up going back to slow. NCAA is going to give me a heart attack when I fire that back up! Dawdler-I was in the "slider lab" for quite some time last night . Not that I think the game is a mess, it isn't at all. Just the regular naggies everyone else is basically seeing,I'm seeing also. My major points of tweaking are messin' with the runnning game(It's either on great, almost too good or way too weak for me) and the interception thing. I can pick them off like old flies on the wall if I really want to. Pass rush-hmmm-Unless I play as a lineman(As mentioned earlier) the AI qb has until sometime next week to pass-another work in progress. Let's see, the holding thing is really bizarre and must be deemed a glitch at this time. I like holding penalties being called, but not everytime a ball gets kicked. I'm noticing it alot on kickoffs also. Maybe Supersim on field goals? anyone else try that? I'm sure a patch will remedy that. I'd like to see MM's sliders and compare notes here in the future.....Or anyones elses? Maybe a slider forum here? This game just needs some tweaking, not a major overhaul IMO. Right now, I'm going with my own hybrid sliders/12 min. quarters with 15 sec acc. clock. First game, I took the Raiders and beat the 49ers 17-10. It was a good game and I wished I didn't mess with the sliders I had at that time, I think I was dialed in. Thought I could get a little more out of them and made adjustments-Took the Steelers and lost to the Pats 35-21. That game was a little crazy at times and I picked off Brady on ints. 4 times! that should have never happened . In reality, he throws about that many a year.Next game was me as the Packers vs the Vikings-Lost that one 20-10-I couldn't get a running game going but the Viks. walked on me like a path to a discount breakfast bar. Going back in here once I wake up some more and see if I can get my original sliders back. Time to take notes on what I change instead of relying on my "razor sharp" memory-lol.

This is a known issue Nem. Very few holding penalties other than a few specific ones and holding appears to show up way too often on field goal tries from what I've read. |

thanks for the info Coffee, I'm sure you're sliders are going to be good stuff as always. I'm going to try the 12 min 15 acc clock and see how it goes and how does the lock on thingy work again? |
